The Austin Music Foundation's bi-monthly mixer is tomorrow night at Union Park. The Austin Music Foundation have been doing great things for the music community in Austin since 2002, from small educational sessions with industry pros, music industry boot camps, to holding monthly mixers and giving folks an opportunity to network. They have also committed time to increasing awareness of the SIMS Foundation and the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians , two organizations that provide health care, counseling services, and all types of other support for Austin musicians. This may be old news- singer Alan Palomo has left the synth heavy Denton sensation Ghosthustler . After many cancelled shows and equipment failures, I have seen this band play a full set once- at the Gorilla vs. Booze SXSW party with about 200 other people in the smallest, hottest, bluest venue in town. They have removed the tracks with Palomo's vocals on their myspace, but Missing Toof or Panda Toes may still have a few tracks you can grab. Lets hope they find a new singer soon, pour one out [...]

Via Audio, Jukebox the Ghost , and The Lovely Sparrows play the Mohawk Friday the 13th. Jukebox the Ghost (left) is a charming little trio from Washington D.C. who make some seriously upbeat pop. They may seem predictable after listening to 'Good Day', its just so catchy..and cheerful.. but then you sort of love it, don't you?
