I've been having this problem lately, where i haven't been committing to bands. Unfortunately, being a blogger leads to a lot of short winded loves for particular song before moving right along to the next big thing. That's why I'm so excited about Tales of Jenny. Tales of Jenny is not forgettable. In fact, if I could actually find out how to purchase something from them(though it's very
Matador has posted up a new track from the upcoming Pretty Girls Make Graves album Élan Vital , due out April 11th. The new track is called "The Nocturnal House" and I am really, really in love with it. It's dark, ambient, and I love Andrea's voice in this song. This album is going to be a big favorite of mine this year, I can tell already. Plus, I really like the cover art. [MP3]: Pretty Girls Make Graves :: The [...]
I'm going to try to make this an every Wednesday thing, but we'll see. Anyway, I've got some fairly enjoyable one's today, although, isn't any mash-up fun to listen to? Yes. 1.) Bloc Party Vs. The Pussycat Dolls This mash-up is a pairing of Bloc Party's "Banquet (Phones Disco Edit)" from their Silent Alarm: Remixed album with The Pussycat Dolls' "Don't Cha" from their PCD album. Made by Aggro1 . [...]

Phantom Buffalo (formerly The Ponys) is a lo-fi indie rock band from Maine. I recently fell in love with their album Shishimumu which was actually released several years ago here in the States. I don't know why it took me this long to find out about these guys. Phantom Buffalo make lush lo-fi rock with quite the eye for perfect production. Shishimumu , as well as their recently released KIlling's Not O.K. EP , are reminiscent of The Shins and The Byrds, with most songs having that jangly guitar [...]

Cheyenne started out as the musical project of one Beau Jennings, along with a large cast of revolving door musicians icluding members of Ester Drang, Fruit Bats, Starlight Mints, and Sufjan Steven’s Illinoisemakers. Since the release of Cheyenne's first full length I Am Haunted, I Am Alive last year, the band's line-up has become more permanent and now includes Beau Jennings (guitar, vocals) Heath Fisher (drums, vocals), Rob Stephenson (banjo, pedal steel), and Ben Shelton (piano, vocals). On the album, guitars, pianos, synthesizers, lap steel and drums accompany haunting murder ballads and heartbreaking stories of [...]
Check out this super-sweet SKATTERBRAIN animation made by one of my awesome readers known solely as Penguin. That website looks really cool too, I might mess around with it later. See you tommorow.

The new Belle and Sebastian single "Funny Little Frog" will be available on iTunes starting tommorow, January 10th. Here's the catch, it's only going to be available in the UK iTunes store and most likely Europe, too. Sorry Americans, you're just going to have to wait until, the hard copies are released on January 16th, in a smattering of formats . But the band's got a special treat for you! To coincide with the release of the "Funny Little Frog" single on the 16th of this month, [...]
This track appears on the 1994 Smekkleysa compilation Smekkleysa à hálfa öld and is the first song Sigur Ros ever recorded. [MP3]: Sigur Ros :: Fljúgðu Upon hearing this song, you realize more than ever, that My Bloody Valentine's Loveless was quite a favorite of Sigur Ros in their early years. Also, am I hearing things or is that actually some flanger effect on the drums? I think it is. I love [...]

I tend to pimp out Bound Stems around here quite a bit and it was due time I finally saw them live. If you've heard any of their music, you know they use a lot of loops and samples that are very important to all of their songs. Well there are a lot of bands out there that sound like this on tape, but have a difficult time transfering that sound to their live show. Bound Stems are a beautiful exception. The ivy was pretty sweet. Click pictures for larger versions. All photos by [...]
I'm not really sure how to introduce this, so I won't say anything more than this is a delightfully painful mash-up of The Arcade Fire's "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)" and Kelis' "Milkshake." God help us. [MP3]: The Arcade Fire and Kelis :: Neighborhood #5

Okay. It's possible that this may not be as amazing a find as I think it is, but I for one had no idea these were even in existance and I consider myself quite a fan of We Are Scientists. Regardless, I'm sure there are many of you out there that haven't heard any of these either, so for and for you, have a wonderful day and enjoy these! Okay, I didn't really introduce the whole EastCoastPost thing too well in the first post so I'll do it now. I was thinking about it the other day, and I realized I have barely (if even at all) touched on anything from the Maryland(or Virginia, or Delaware). Granted, there isnt much of a Maryland music scene(excluding D.C.), but we do have out fair share of noteworthy musicians. That is the essential purpose of this series of posts. We're more than crabs, people. Kenny Tompkins [...]
I just stumbled upon this gem of a song by a band called Heart Short Hope . Unfortunately all i can tell you about them is that theyre a two piece from Colorado and according to their label, "they'll blow yer socks off!" Honestly, my socks went nowhere, but I do love this song. [MP3]: Heart Short Hope :: Hello Hello
I love Page France, that's no secret. Other Matt really loves Page France, you love Page France, heck, everyone does! Well, assuming that common interest, say hello to your new favorite music. The Broadway Hush are Whitney McGraw and Michael Nau. If those names sound familiar, it's because they are. Whitney and Michael are both in Page France, as well. Except While Michael sings for Page France, Whitney takes the spotlight here. First of all, She has a beautiful [...]

Before Radiohead was Radiohead, they we're On A Friday and very recently two very early demos have surfaced on the At Ease Message Boards. I havent yet had the opportunity to hear the second demo but I was able to get ahold of the three tracks from the first surfaced demo. I went into these songs expecting something very rough and unfinished and while they may not sound so much like Radiohead of today, they are certainly good songs. Get these quick, as I'm not [...]
