I was minding my own business here at work and my wife called me asking me if it was true that Michael Jackson had dies. A quick google search on MJ confirmed that the King Of Pop had died in a Los Angeles hospital after a heart attack. This is one of those days that you'll remember, I think. I mentioned this on Jeff's artist profile but it's always too bad when it takes an artist's passing to make you notice their body of work. I can't say that I even knew who Jeff Hanson was before I received an email from Kill Rock Stars with their condolences. Endless Hallway is a new Los Angeles-based five piece band have completed their debut album, Autonomy Games. Each member took some time to give us their recommendation of what we should be checking out right now, besides their album. Ryan's pick: Yasunori Ogawa. "Quiet Emotion" LP - ambient soundscapey music that restrains itself from becoming too melodic or rhythmic. And the mood is preserved because of it. Drive-By Truckers (DBT) have been making music together for 13 years resulting in 7 critically acclaimed studio albums which could not contain all of the songs written by the band. DBT recently dug into the New West Records vaults, with guidance from longtime producer Dave Barbe, and put finishing touches on a selection of songs that were never quite completed. Legendary rock band ALICE IN CHAINS has signed an exclusive worldwide deal with EMI's Virgin Records and are gearing up for the release of their first new studio album in more than 10 years. The band and producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters) began recording last October at Studio 606 in Northridge, CA and recently finished mixing at Henson Studios in Hollywood. The highly anticipated album is scheduled for release this September. Guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney and bassist Mike Inez reunited in 2005 at a benefit for victims of the tsunami in Indonesia. [...]
