Sleigh Bells played yet another fantastic set last night, this time I caught them at Le Poisson Rouge. Derek mentioned LPR having a great sound system in our interview ( Sleigh Bells: CMJ, The Hype and Beyond ) especially for my favorite song Beach Girls , and I couldn't agree more for those epic beat drops! It was a late night but worth the lack of sleep this morning. Check them out next time they're around kids! Spotted at the show: Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs. To listen to Sleigh Bells, check them out on [...]

I literally just got back from seeing Kid Sister at MTV, it was a great midday break and worth not taking a lunch break at work for! KS played a few songs from her fantastic debut album Ultraviolet ( out now !) including banging party anthems Right Hand Hi, Big N Bad and Pro Nails (sans Kanye.) She was accompanied by two masked dancers and sported an awesome bedazzled Aaliyah T-shirt for the set. Unfortunately I will not be in town for her set at Webster [...]

Wednesday night was my third MTVU Woodie Awards show at Roseland Ballroom and one of the most fun! We had a perfect spot near the artist lounge, enjoying a DJ set by Diplo and catching performances by Death Cab for Cutie , Passion Pit , Matt & Kim , The Dead Weather and more. There was an interesting array of presenters including a ranting Zooey Deschanel, legendary Cyndi Lauper and Leighton Meester, Mary Louise Parker, 3OH!3 dressed like Lady Gaga, will.i.am in a snuggie, a drunk? Pete Wentz, and Janelle Monae [...]

Collectively I've seen Saturday's line up 8 times this year. Peaches: 3 , Amanda Blank: 5 . Amanda Blank was first up and after having seeing her set four times this year alone, it was clear that Amanda was bringing something bigger something better to the stage this time around. Her 45-minute set began after 9PM and included 2 DJ's, a drummer, the obligatory Spank Rock guest spot AND a choreography section with background dancers! Fans were promised a revamped show for the current leg of Peaches' [...]

Last night, after being in the states for less than 24 hours, Friendly Fires played a random private party for Fred Perry at SPIN New York...and you can trust Tastes Like Caramel was there for all of the fun! It was our first time at the venue which played host to a ping pong event with the band providing the headlining entertainment. The party was in celebration of the Fred Perry brand and Friendly Fires kicking off their winter NYLON tour Thursday night in Texas with The Xx. We had the pleasure of interviewing [...]

Last week I caught my favorite Swedish pop band, Peter Bjorn and John 's show at Webster Hall. PBJ hit the stage with an all-star cast that included El Perro Del Mar , Spank Rock , U-N-I , Matt Sweeney and Andrew WK in what felt like a Monday night variety show! The onstage collaborations were great but the duet with El Perro Del Mar for Young Folks was the highlight of the set as well as Andrew WK's puzzling interpretive dancing. [...]

Just a few hours ago Rihanna played London's Brixton Academy for 5,000 fans at the venue AND millions across the word via the live web stream. I watched the stream from the comfort of my computer and enjoyed every second of it! The setlist consisted of 9 new and old songs with special guests Jeezy and Jay-Z. My favorites included the re-worked version of Disturbia , the racy live version of Don't Stop the Music , Hard with Jeezy and the duets with Jay-Z on Run This Town and [...]

It's great to see Kelis back in full swing after a 3-year hiatus since 2006's Kelis Was Here , a nasty split with rapper Nas, and giving birth to her first child. It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since her innovative debut album Kaleidescope ! In the clip below she hooks up with banger-producing duo Crookers for No Security . Crookers' debut album Tons of Friends will be out in March of 2010, and hopefully a new Kelis record will be out soon as well! Check [...]

Yesterday we attended the secret Shakira show in NYC that we wrote about earlier this week. Hopefully some of you were lucky enough to be in attendance, if not the footage can be seen at iheartradio soon! Fans came far and wide for the 5 song show that included She-Wolf, Loba (She-Wolf in Spanish), Hops Don't Lie and Give it Up to Me albeit Lil' Wayne. Shakira put on a fantastic, eccentric and eclectic set. It was a great send off into the weekend post-work, pre-partying. [...]

Sleigh Bells photographed 10.30.09 by anthoNYC Derek Miller and Alexis Krauss have managed to cause quite a stir on the internet, having going from amateurly recorded obscurity to booking sought after gigs and rolling with the likes of M.I.A. and Spike Jonze. Sleigh Bells : What is the method to their mayhem? Who are they? What kind of music is this? These were all questions that plagued us and we decided to get to the bottom of this two weeks ago, the day before Halloween. We met up with the duo at [...]

New York seems to be getting it's club scene spark back with a vengeance! Last Saturday we spent the night dancing until the wee hours of the night on Santos' dance floor to the euphoric DJ set delivered by none other than Basement Jaxx! Fans packed into the sweaty venue for a glimpse of the duo as they spun classic tracks such as Break Away and brought guest vocalists onstage for tunes including Red Alert ! It was one of the best nights I've had in awhile, so much that I only took 4 pictures [...]
Last month Quiet Color upped the bar for our Guest Bloggers by selecting Sleigh Bells as Your New Obsession . Sleigh Bells went on to be one of the most buzzed about bands at CMJ and on the blogosphere! This month we tapped Michael from the fantastic New York and Chicago-based blog Consequence of Sound . Michael selected the Florida rock band Look Mexico as your new obsession for the month of November, what do you guys think? If you like what you hear make sure you check out Look [...]

Remember Plan B ? The hyper social-realistic British rapper made a splash almost 3 years ago with his debut Who Needs Actions When You Got Words , but was overshadowed by the genius/celebrity juggernaut of his 679 labelmate, The Streets. Ben Drew, meanwhile, is no slouch and is really nothing like Mike Skinner at all. He sufficiently succeeds in widening that gap even further by moving away from his unconventional rapping-over-acoustic guitar formula to a retro soul approach. Hence his latest track, Stay Too Long which sees Ben collaborating once [...]
