I must say it's been quite some time since we've heard almost anything from the Ed Banger crew. I have this strange inkling that Justice might well have been struck with the misfortune of sailing off the edge of the earth in their gallant search for a proverbial new world, and even the immovable, longtime members seem to be shying the news as of late. But hush children, I assure you, there's no need to worry; Though it may seem as though our beloved team of groundbreaking artists have hidden themselves [...]

In response to Discodust 's recent update concerning the lack of a better name for the "Future Disco" style of music that engulfs Russ Chimes ' latest endeavor (a remix of Le Corps Mince de Françoise 's track, "Bitch of the Bitches"), I believe I may (with the help of a good friend) have come up with a solution: My people, we shall call it Epiglam. And yes, I could spend a good amount of time explaining to you why I've picked that particular name, but something tells me that simply having you listen [...]

We all know the internet has had quite a large effect on the music industry; Sometimes I doubt that there remains a single soul left in the world that hasn't contributed a dollar to Apple's iTunes at least once in their life, but looking at this massive change from a modern perspective, it's all good, right? Digitalization has allowed artists like Radiohead (and several other open-minded trend setters) to release their work upon completion and without corporate delay. Further, I feel it's safe to say that a fairly large chunk of those of you who are reading [...]

Deepest apologies for having nearly disappeared for almost a week; I'm finally on the mend after a bit of an illness, which, when combined with far too many hours of work, has proven overwhelming. On the positive side of things, however, my lack of updates has allowed me to build up a substantial collection of goodies that have been kept in their cages and away from trouble for far too long. Naturally, approach these tracks with caution; They do like to pounce, and could leave you feeling very confused and unprepared come Monday morning. [...]

If I were to quit listening to, blogging about, and living for music today, I'm proud to say that I would, in fact, die happy, for today I have discovered what I consider to be the most perfect blend of sounds to have graced the many ears on this earth in years. Naturally, you'll have to excuse me if you don't completely share my idea of beauty and finesse in the way of sound, but for myself, and those of you who can fall in love with the sensitive magic of artists like Sigur Ros just as [...]

I just had a rather frightening thought: Am I being unreasonable, or have we actually reached the point in music history where the number of remixes and remix artists outnumbers the number of substantial original works being put out? Either way, the functionality of the music industry has undoubtedly changed quite a lot in the past couple years. It's strange to say that I recall a time wherein a remix was a strange and exciting thing. I suppose it figures, though; We had little more than Basement Jaxx , Daft Punk , and [...]

I'm usually not one with much too say in the way of hip hop, but I must admit that this post (and my life for that matter) have had some real hip hop trends as of late. I made a comment a while back, about the time that Ed Banger's lone hip hop act DSL made an appearance, about how it seems as though France and the US have seemingly begun to swap music tastes (we've handed rap over to them in exchange for gnarly electro), and three months later, I'm only further convinced. Check it out: [...]
If this post were an animal, it'd definitely be a mouse. Somehow, in the last five days that I've gone letting myself become consumed by every possible distraction, I've somehow still managed to stumble across some of the most fascinating, imaginative, and ever so incredibly fresh tracks that I've heard in quite some time. It's almost like finding cheese in a little nook in the wall. I do think that most of us are, by now, probably at least a little turned off when a so called "new" track starts off with the oh [...]

Hopefully your RSS feed doesn't have an alert on it-I'm up far too early to be posting this, and I'd hate to subject all you nocturnals to undeserved daylight exposure, but I'm afraid the spirits of disco have spoken. Digitalism I was recently exposed to Digitalism 's newly released (and quite under-hyped, if you ask me) single, entitled "Taken Away", and have since begun to lose myself in the melting pot of sounds they've crafted. Digitalism has always [...]

So much to say, and so little time. Sometimes I really do wonder whether we're all just oblivious to the little dwarfs pushing the hands on the clock forward when our backs are turned, but I suppose there really isn't much to do about it but whine, right? Shazam I've got to give enormous credit to Discodust for this first find. The guy operates under the name Shazam , and I'd tell you where he's from, but I'm thinking that, due [...]

With a Knack for the Peculiar I don't usually enjoy covering the artists who most certainly don't need any more coverage than they already have, but I must admit, certain situations beg for special treatment. I'm sure we all know by now how remixes involving our coveted Canadian duo, MSTRKRFT , go, yes? See, they were always phenomenal, but as of late, there's been a trend toward more the unusual, which has resulted in a library of tracks that are, at the very least, genre bending. Let's think back. We [...]

Deepest apologies for my having been so sloppy with my posting habits recently. It seems as though "the man" has finally backed me into the corner and forced a "real job" upon my soldiers. Regardless, I feel I owe you, the good people of the disco scene, not one, but two teaspoons of cherry flavored beats, both to make up for the sparsity of my recent activity, and to express my heartfelt sorrow. Love Motel [...]

Alright my children. Whether you're ready or not, it's time to take a break from your nearly permanent, distortion-induced headache and prepare yourself to dive into the world of Sexuality . Not to say that grimy electro and sexuality aren't connected in more than a few ways, but regardless, it's always quite nice to have a few soft waves of poppy pleasure push your buttons every now and again. The problem is, you've probably already assumed I must be referencing something that isn't heavy, and that's related to Sexuality, and hence, "Sensual Seduction" is likely ready [...]

It's quite strange, and to a certain extent, sad, that the fresh, hard-hitting, revolution-starting electro of only a year and a half or so ago has so quickly turned on itself. Nearly everything that, in the beginning, assisted the style in its rise to fame has essentially become it's enemy. Blazing, distorted synths and an overall crunchy sound (perhaps the most prominent facets of the genre) have become a cliche, and despite that fact that last year was praised as "the best year in electro since 19983, the people who are dropping the heaviest beats at this point [...]

Despite the fact that the genre consisting of all the electronic and electro music has assembled much of it's popularity due to the hype around "new and original sounds", it would be foolish to deny the appearance of more than just a few styles that could easily be called generic. Artists like The Bloody Beetroots and Crookers have, since the time of their conception stood fast on top of the sounds and styles that they created for themselves, and though I cannot say that I do not enjoy those particular sounds, they certainly do become [...]

How nice of Classixx to have presented themselves to me so soon after our controversial discussion over JFK 's feelings on the future of rock music. I had a few comments on that post from people who felt that electronic music is totally void of the soul that has kept rock alive for so many years, and though I do quite agree when it comes to a certain few (for the most part, I've never felt much of a connection with trance, or that heavy generic harcore), I think more than a few are going to [...]
Having been smothered underneath the black wave of far too many Justice -fueled "producers" as of late, being allowed to perk an ear toward an artist who pulls off the heavier side of dance in a dignified and stylish fashion is a well deserved breath of fresh . Mr. Miyagi I've been hoping to toss Mr. Miyagi up for a good long while now, but until recently, I was stumped due to the fact that the [...]

I know I've done a lot of eighties revival coverage in the last couple weeks, and I hate to keep poking at a topic that's probably long been dubbed "old news," but I feel that this latest development has once again made a bit of commentary necessary. DatA By now we're all no doubt quite familiar with the distinct post-retro style of Ekleroshock giant, Danger , and therefor it probably isn't all too shocking that the saw-tooth electro label mate, [...]

There's no doubt that nearly everyone that reads this blog is reading it for the same reason: we all end up at the same shows and parties, we all have friends that walk around wearing fedoras, Puma's, rolled up jeans, and shirts with colorful drawings all over them that, for some reason, you just can't seem to make sense of, and most importantly, we all can't resist the lure of a shining, winding, grinding synth lick that's just begging for some foot stomping. But on that note, I think it's safe to say that there are definitely moments where [...]

Chromeo Just a little heads up for those of you that frequently find yourselves engaged in spontaneous dance-offs, break-battles, and foot fights, if you do somehow make it through tomorrow without taking a bit of time off to listen to Chromeo 's latest audio upgrade, you could be at a significantly higher risk for an embarrassing loss: The re-release, cleverly titled, "Fancier Footwork", will not only include the entire slightly less fancy album, as well as a whole bunch of other goodies that may well [...]
