Here at PopWreckoning, we’ve officially hit a level of mail that makes it impossible for us to give full reviews to every band. However, this does not mean we believe that these bands shouldn’t be granted some for of press. It simply means we have to scale it down a bit. Therefore, we have opted to create a feature called Bite Size Reviews, which shall appear several times a week. This feature will contain 5 reviews each under 100 words and links to the albums website, MySpace page or label. We believe this is the best use [...]

Hot off the wires: bad news for KC, but our thoughts are with Bruce: KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Bruce Springsteen canceled a performance scheduled for Monday night in Kansas City due to what the Sprint Center calls a death in his "immediate" family. The cancellation was announced in a statement less than two hours before Springsteen and the E Street Band were to take the stage at the downtown arena. No further information was released, and the Sprint Center said all tickets [...]

Walter Meego is a band from Chicago, Illinois. They've had a few EPs and singles out as well as their first album, Voyager , released last year. The first song off of that album is "Forever," one of my favorites. . Walter Meego - "Forever" "Forever" is a sweet pop song, delivered with a soft sincerity through the vocal chords of lead singer, Justin Sconza . The track has elements of electronic music, but in a much [...]

Them Crooked Vultures - the superheroes of rock trio of Dave Grohl (ex-Nirvana, Foo Fighters ), Josh Homme ( Queens of the Stone Age , Eagles of Deat h Metal), and John Paul Jones (ex- Led Zeppelin ) - have released details of their forthcoming self-titled debut album, due out in mid-November, on their official website. The band plans to tour in support of the new album, with December dates in the UK and Europe and a trip out to Australia and New [...]

I’m not even going to try to pretend that I am some sort of casual “Yeah, I like that 'Walking with A Ghost song'” kind of Tegan and Sara fan or an impartial stringer covering the events of yet another album release. I’ve been a junkie for T&S ever since I stumbled upon The Con via Chris Walla via Death Cab for Cutie about a year ago. After devouring the 2007 critical-darling and its feast of dark confessional lullabies [...]

Though they started in 2002, it would be nearly six years before the world would learn of the beautiful harmonies made this family of musicians. Joshua caught up with The Bridges to see how their debut album Limits of the Sky came about and what's next in their future. Joshua, PopWreckoning: You all started with just Brittany , Natalie and Stacey . Why and how did you decide to get Jeremy and [...]

Although Lawrence has this great reputation as being a center of indie music culture, the audiences can be less than welcoming and rather apathetic. It takes a rare breed of band to get the crowds moving and singing, so you know you’re at a special show when there is an interaction between the artist and crowd. Gogol Bordello was one such show. Apostle of Hustle opened up with what sounded like space age salsa music. The touring duo used a pre-recorded voice to give song introductions and what I dubbed their “space age” [...]

Johnny Brenda’s in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia has gained a legendary reputation for hosting great live music and on October 22nd, 2009 the second floor of the venue delivered all that and more. Drug Rug , a lo-fi indie folk band from Cambridge, Massachusetts opened the show. Upon entering the stage, they were greeted with a respectful applause but it seemed obvious most people were not familiar with this band. During their set, the musicians showcased their talents by trading off instruments and proceeding to play some spectacular indie rock tunes. By the end [...]

October has been a busy month for singer/pianist Andrew McMahon . The Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin artist has been touring and releasing lots of new material. He just announced a partnership with Stand Up To Cancer by participating in its programming beginning in December 2009. The Stand Up To Cancer initiative aims to raise awareness and bring about an understanding that everyone is connected by cancer. The group has raised more than $100 million for cancer research through television events, private [...]

Do you remember when... Lloyd Dobler lifts a boombox over his head beneath his love Diane C ourt’s window, pouring his heart out through Peter Gabriel ’s timeless hit: “ In your eyes The light the heat In your eyes I am complete In your eyes I see the doorway to a thousand churches In your eyes The resolution of all the fruitless searches... ” Experience the iconic film scene all over again (or even for the first [...]

The Main Street Café is a beautiful venue and was the perfect setting for a local show. It’s kind of like a large living room, full of comfortable couches and dim chandelier lights. It really makes the show more personal for fans. Kevin Hanly opened the night to a slightly empty room, however that didn’t damper his spirits. Hanly was well-dressed in a cardigan with his acoustic guitar. No need for a backup band with a voice like his. Hanly’s voice is soft and easy to listen to next to the strum of [...]

My day began with Google maps getting me lost, eventually finding my bus and away I went on a rather beautiful day to begin my Austin City Limits experience. After checking in at the media tent, I made my way to catch the wonderful bluegrass/punk stylings of the Avett Brothers who kicked off my day with a bang, mostly taking material from their recently released I and Love and You (which shall go down as one of my favorite records of 2009). After the close of their [...]

Considering how The Mars Volta 's songs are so complexly intertwined, it would only make sense that the band's ever-expanding family of related projects are bound together as well. In November, two such groups, Zechs Marquise and Free Moral Agents take to the road to show us how this brood continues to grow. Zechs Marquise features multi-instrumentalist Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (who also plays in The Mars Volta ) and bassist Marfred Rodriguez-Lopez [...]

Air 's Love 2 sounds like it could be the soundtrack to a Mad Men episode if it was filmed in space, and the actors' were French. Love 2 is heavier than Air's other albums because the band used live instruments while recording the album. It wouldn't be an Air album if there weren't a few strikingly beautiful ambient songs, some 60s spy tracks, and lounge music. The ambient masterpiece of the album is "Heaven's Light." The other atmospheric tunes [...]
