Inspired by Gold Panda 's 'Miyamae EP' and title track ' Back Home ' we dropped him a quick line in 2009, via Soundcloud, to see if he would be interested in recording a mix for the WeAreBlahBlahBlah mix series. Three years on with a second album 'Half Of Where You Live' having just been announced we had a personal message from the Golden Panda himself, saying; "Hey just got this message. I havent checked this thing for 3 years. Seems like you're doing well! x". However unlike most bears this was not due to a prolonged need to hibernate, [...]

Djrum is commonly lumped into the ' Burial ' imitator type category, and while he does like to dabble in large sweeping undefined brush strokes of sound, complete with crackly undertones, to say he is nothing more than an imitator would be gross misconduct to his music. Having pre-dominately released on the pioneering 2nd Drop Records Djrum has developed a somewhat unsung hero status as his records have largely slipped beneath the industry radar, however we believe his debut LP 'Seven Lies' needs to and should change this general unawareness and appreciation. [...]

Eats Everything has devoured the house seen of late as he's consistently served up the finest in phat party beats. However it would seem Eats aka Daniel Pearce has decided its time to cut back a little and go low fat with his new alias Mange Tout. Mange Tout's first official outing is remixing another rapidly ascending house phenomenon Dusky , and their break through record ' Flo-Jam '. As we alluded to above Eats Everything has taken a more reserved approach to this remix, whilst maintaining a solid dance floor presence, the track as a whole has [...]

Record labels are as prevalent and often as homogenous as the stones on our home town beach of Brighton, a fact that is more true now than ever. Virtually anyone can be a record label owner these days, all you need is an MP3, a name for said label and a platform from which to release your music, sounds good, right. However for us seekers of new music it has got to the point where there is more chaff than wheat, leading to many a disillusioned day of fruitless sifting through the latest, "deep house is big, lets set up [...]

For some Catz N Dogz might be a bit of a new phenomena, for others a well worn pair of comfy slippers, but whatever your disposition Catz N Dogz are trusted purveyors of slick, tight and crisp tech-house type beats, whether it be their own productions or cuts from their own label, Pets Recordings . As you would expect there isnt much variation from a solid 44 pattern, so dont expect wild 'Atoms of Peace Essential Mix' type flourishes, but what you can expect is well thought out seamlessly flowing house beats, that provide the perfect accompaniment to [...]

Maceo Plex joins the eclectic ranks of DJs and producers on the !K7 roster for the first DJ Kicks mix of 2013. This comes off the back of a stellar year for the american who has seen releases on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Hot Waves and of course his own Ellum Audio to name but a few. Maceo Plex has stated that the aim of this mix is to highlight the sounds that represent the future. Ironically he turned to vinyl, the format of the past [...]

Loefah aka Swamp81 is back furnishing his new label with another outstanding release, this time with the upcoming Paleman picking up were Dusky left off. Think talking in class, stealing someones dinner money and standing outside the head masters office and you'll have an idea of what to expect from this EP. Those of you who have been following Paleman for a little will know that two of these tracks, Chapel & Etch, featured on his Soundcloud for quite a while, and like Furrball have been tantalising us ever since. Thankfully the [...]

Another month, another sterling release from Citizen . If you missed his last offering via the ever on-point Love Fever, let us give you a brief synopsis: Citizen creates stripped back, evocative, sublime house music. Heading back to Kerri Chandler’s MadTech imprint, title track “So Submissive” is - if you’ve been to the right discothèque in the past few months - instantly recognisable. It’s a standout track with expertly arranged melodies and a tasteful Jagged Edge vocal flip, all of which flow over a beat that ensnares you body [...]

Nottingham based Grime/Techno/Bass producers Sergic & Lyka have been making a bit of a racket in the last twelve months with their dirty, bass heavy sounds, shaking the Midlands to its foundations. In that same period the duo have also co-opened their own label, Tumble Audio . The label has released 2 Eps so far, Killjoy's 'XTC EP', Majora's 'Boss Key EP' and is now preparing their 3rd self penned Bulletproof EP. 'Bullet Proof' shuffles its way into your consciousness with snappy clicks, machine noises and stuttering snares complimented with [...]

MRSK is a new one to us, and on the balance of this upcoming release on Skudge presents we will be feverishly delving into his back catalogue, post writing this article. Both tracks 'Venger' + 'Image Crtl' have a distinct rave feel to them which naturally appealed to our recent Praga Khan - Injected With The Poison fascination. Although neither track is quite as abbrasively rave as Praga Khan you cant deny its nod to the early mid 902s, all thats missing is an accompanying trippy video. Rave nostalgia [...]

Seb Wildblood has developed himself quite a congreation of loyal followers over the last few years, as his London based party ' Church ' has established itself as a leading light when it comes to forward thinking lineups. Not content with just cramming eager clubbers into their Corsica home, Seb has looked to spread the message further with the recently launched Church record label, and his own self penned productions. At first glance you maybe forgiven for thinking that Seb's label was an excuse for him to get his name pressed on those much coveted black discs, however you only [...]
When creating your own track, the mix down process is both the most debatable and one of the most difficult processes to get right. The reason for this is that there are so many different techniques you can do in order to get all the instrument tracks to sit together nicely in the mix. It can take years to master the mix down process and this can result in a lot of amateur producers losing faith in their work. Myself being an amateur producer with very little knowledge on how to get my projects sounding professional, I thought rather than [...]

Will Saul day......first up we drew your attention to his self penned ' Close ' single / album, this time up its one of his premier signings ' Bicep '. Bicep jumped to the top of the house pile in 2012 with the epic Ejeca collaboration 'You' before launching what has now become a cliched 902s house revival with their euphoric 'Vision Of Love'. Stash is officially their follow up single to 'Vision Of Love' and see's them once again foraging sounds old and new. Lead track Stash builds from a standard [...]

Aus Music's founder Will Saul is currently applying the finishing touches to his debut LP under his 'Close' alias. Getting Closer is due for release via the 'DJ Kicks' home, !K7 Records, later this month. For the more knowledgeable among you, you are no doubt aware that Will Saul has been releasing defining house records since the early 20002s, however in the last few years it has been his Aus Music imprint that has been setting the pace, with breaking releases coming from Joy Orbison, Ramadanman, SCB, George Fitzgerald, Midland, Bicep and Dusky. [...]

LTMDTW are a 4 piece electronic outfit that have a crazed obsession for all things analog. Not the, I'm into analog cause its cool, but a crazed obsession. Simply step into their studio and you’ll be whisked away from the Digital age in a heart beat as a haze of humming transistors and burnishing outboards drape you in a warm welcoming embrace. One Love [...]

Its probably fair to say that some of you reading this may be thinking, who's Move D , dont worry, but if you're serious about your House music we implore you to read on a little further as Move D's vast back catalogue deserves a good foraging.
