"Lost Dream" is a hypnotic, seductive, electronic track that will effectively sway your mood. It's from upcoming artist Digits , the project of Alt Altman, who hails from Toronto, bringing cold textured, effective electronic music with him. He has a voice similar to Owen Pallet, and creates music that can be compared to Hot Chip and Junior Boys. "Lost Dream" demonstrates the beauty that electronic music is capable of when in the right hands. [mp3]: Digits - Lost Dream "Lost Dream" will be on his new EP of the same [...]

Swedish producer Johan Agebjörn has released a new single with Le Prix . It's a airy Euro-disco track called "Watch The World Go By" that features guest vocals from Lake Heartbeat . It baths itself in synth glory, showing off Janne Kask's (from Lake Heartbeat) mesmerizing vocals. Be careful not to get too invested in the track. You might get lost in there. "Watch The World Go By" is the first single from Johan's upcoming new album, Casablanca Nights , which will be released in May. Grab the single below, along with [...]
The Luyas music video for "Too Beautiful To Work" features the band messing around with strobe lights playing with black and white. The effect is visually stunning. If you've seen their live show , you will know that they it has the same effect. It's a cool watch, check it out and download a mp3 if you really like it. [mp3]: The Luyas - Too Beautiful To Work

Jangula are a Brooklyn band who make dance ready rock with big bass grooves that give off an undeniable Joy Division murkiness. Their song "Genji Glove" is just one of their early songs that have got my feet tapping. "Genji" is inspired by 80s new wave, with danceable music backing up deep confident vocals. This is the type of band that would rock your world late at night in a small intimate venue. If your in NYC Monday April 18th, go catch the band at Pianos. They will play "Genji Glove" along with the rest of the [...]

Chicago duo Honest Engines have got my attention after hearing their incredibly strong single "The French Song". "The French Song" is an attention grabbing upbeat rocker. Showcasing a bit of a dramatic flare, the song is just waiting to breakout epic fashion. After a few listens, this song has me raising my eyebrows. Clean focused vocals lead the way, and you won't look back. Honest Engines are relatively unknown at the moment, but on the strength of "The French Song", I don't believe that is going to be for much longer. "The French [...]

High Highs are a Brooklyn-based Australian trio that only have three songs under their belt, but they've all made quite the impression. If dreamy folk music that often treads towards a pop sound is your thing, then these guys are just for you. "Open Season" is the best place to start. It's a warm comforting track that will have you wanting more after only your first listen. It's catchiness will sneak up on you. Next thing you know, you'll be humming aloud to it without even being aware. [mp3]: High Highs - Open Season [...]

Beastie Boys new album Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 is coming out May 3rd via Capitol Records . It's been a long time since we've had some real Beastie Boys music to check out. So it's a pleasure to finally share some new Beastie Boys with you guys. "Make Some Noise" is the first single from the new album. It features a funky beat that's impossible to ignore. The Beasties needed to make a statement to convince everyone that their trukly back, and they definitely succeed with this. It sounds like old school Beastie [...]
![[Listen] Ezra Koenig – Papa Hobo (Paul Simon Cover)](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3344243_lg.jpg)
Vampire Weekend frontman, Ezra Koenig , recorded a cover of Paul Simon's "Papa Hobo" for the soundtrack of the upcoming film, Ceremony (Directed by Max Winkler & Starring Uma Thurman ). It's a warm cover that sounds like it was done during a rainy day while lounging in his apartment. It certainly has a quaint film-soundtrack feel to it, which means he's certainly done the job. A 30 Second clip of Arctic Monkeys' new single "Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair" has hit the internet. It's just enough to give us an idea of what kind of vibe that the boys are working with. From the short clip, it sounds like a heavy single that wouldn't have been too miscast on Humbug. It has drugged out guitars that don't shy away from the druggy desert rock sound that they've been experimenting with. Remember, this is only a small sample of the song, so don't judge it too hard. We will [...]

![[new] Death Cab For Cutie – Home Is A Fire](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3343197_lg.jpg)
(Photo Credit: Jason O'Dell ) Death Cab For Cutie have made another track from Codes And Keys available to stream. It's the album opener, "Home Is A Fire". It's a slow grinding song that uses electronic sounds to open the door towards a dark atmosphere. Sounds like a good way to start an album, to me Stream it below. Here's the music video for "You Are A Tourist" which was made/live streamed last night:
![[new] Gang Gang Dance – Mindkilla](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3340839_lg.jpg)
Today Gang Gang Dance released a mp3/music video for new song "Mindkilla". It's the second song that we've received for their upcoming album, Eye Contact , which is out May 10th via 4AD (hear album open "Glass Jar" here ). "Mindkilla" is a mind expanding journey through the exciting mind of Gang Gang Dance. It's a song that explodes through your speakers with haunted electronic beats. The build up at the beginning is worth the prince of admission alone. This is excellent stuff. Grab a mp3, or watch the music video below: [...]
![[mp3]: The Weeknd – The Morning](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3340525_lg.jpg)
You may have seen The Weeknd around other music blogs and site, as their hype is as ripe as hype can be. It's the project of Toronto resident Abel Tesfaye, who released a free mixtape/album called House Of Balloon s on his website , and it's been getting acclaim from pretty much everyone. I finally gave it a listen, and I approve. It's a modern take on r&b with electronic influences sprinkled in. But don't get me wrong, this is definitely a r&b album. Take the essential jam "The Morning" as a prime example. It's a [...]

Last week Death Cab For Cutie's new single, "You Are A Tourist" hit the 'net and I'm very satisfied with it. A music video is planned, only it won't be done by the old school method. Tonight the band is going to be live streaming the video as it is being made. That's right - there will be a stream of the making of the video, as it's literally happening. It's a live, scripted, single take video that will be streamed at www.youareatourist.com at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Tim Nackashi [...]
Filligar were one of the first bands that I featured on my bands to watch list, way back in December 2008 . They've grown tremendously since then, and it's been a pleasure to watch their growth. They are only going to playing at The Mercury Lounge this Friday. I'm always stuck at school when the band is in town, but hopefully you can catch them play for me. The first person to reply to this post will win a pair of tickets to the show. Just reply below, and if you're first, the tickets [...]

Philadelphia husband and wife duo Reading Rainbow are just as adorable as their new single "Cover The Sky". It's a hazy guitar driven jam that will put your mind at ease, like a smooth plain ride to that destination that you could once only dream of. It will be released as a 73 single on April 11th via Hell Yes! . Stream it below:

Houston, Texas band, Something Fierce, call themselves a power-pop/punk band on their myspace . After listening to "Empty Screens", I would say this description is spot on. They almost sound like a poppier/friendlier version of Los Campesinos."Empty Screens" is a joyful little pop gem that will have your finger eager to hit the repeat button. These guys got a great pop sound that probably translates really well live. This is great, great, stuff. [mp3]: Something Fierce - Empty Screens It's taken from Don't Be So Cruel , the bands new album [...]
![[new] The Lonely Island – We're Back](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3337728_lg.jpg)
I'm playing catch up right now and finally made my way to the new The Lonely Island song, "We're Back". Its a short 2 minute rap that had be rolling instantly. The video definitely makes it that much funnier. I honestly enjoy their raps better than a large majority of rap out there right now. Watch/Listen, below: It's going to be included on the bands new album Turtleneck & Chain which will drop May 10th via Universal Republic . [...]

I'm enjoying this cover of Orchestral Manoeuvres "If You Leave" that The Last Royals did. If the song sounds familiar, you may know it from the 802s film mainstay, Pretty In Pink . The Last Royals give the track a great modern spin. It's a warm listen that will play out your Monday night quite nicely.
