![[New/Live] The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart – Say No To Love](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2141211_lg.jpg)
The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart have been one of the coolest things to come out of 2009. I had no expectations from their self titled record when it came out earlier this year, but it turned out to be a great pop rock record that may be up there in my favorite albums of 2009. The wonderful NYC Taper recorded their set at the Bell House from November 15th. This includes a recording of a brand new song called "Say No To Love". It isn't anything different from The Pains output so far, but that's fine [...]

Having my blog has introduced me to tons of bands. Sometimes if I am lucky enough, I have been able to become friends with members of bands. It is like a dream come true to chat it out with real artists!! One band that I have stayed in close contact with is Local Natives . I have been addicted to their beautiful tunes every since I received my first email about them. It's all history since then! I couldn't just be there friend though; it was time to do some professional blogging! Matt Frazier, the drummer of [...]

If you head over to Beggars Group right now you can preview every song from Vampire Weekend's Contra. You can only hear small, short, snippits, but it is better than nothing. So head over right here , and you can get to know the record a little bit better before it comes out on January 12th!

I am surprised at myself. I don't know why I didn't mention the Blakroc project before this post. I got to stop being so lazy!!! For those of you that are unfamiliar with the project, now is a good time to get educated. Blakroc is the collaboration project of The Black Keys with a variety of rappers. The rappers include somke A-listers such as Ludacris, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Mos Def, Raekwon, and RZA. The Black Keys tone down the dirty garage rock and play more soulful tunes that allow the rappers to feel the soul in their bones [...]
Check out Vampire Weekend's official video for new single "Cousins" below. Like all of their video's/music it is a ton of fun. The band gets iterative with us getting pulled back and forth on a pully playing along to the song. It is simple, but effective. Very funny too!!! I really enjoyed watching this video! Click here to view the embedded video.
Why do the Japenese always get the exclusive Bonus Tracks for every album? Vampire Weekend's Contra will get two tracks. They are Giants (or Little Giant?), and Ottoman. We all recognized Ottoman from the film Nick & Norah's Intimate Playlist. Now it is going to be attatced to Contra as a Japanese exclusive.\\ Watch Giant (or Little Giant) below: Click here to view the embedded video. This is cool, I have been waiting to see Little Giant released officially for a long, long time! They played [...]
It's Wednesday. Hence, the "it's hump day" caption! For those of you that are unfamiliar with the phrase it just means we are getting over the middle of the week, and are halfway to it being over. This week has not been a great one. College is basically being a royal pain in the ass right now. My classes right now are pretty dull, and I had a hard time getting anything good for next year. I feel like with my current selection of courses, I am just going through the motions. Like a mindless troll just going [...]
![[Video] Passion Pit – Little Secrets](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2132561_lg.jpg)
Passion Pit have revealed their new video for "Little Secrets". The song was a ton of fun to see live, and it has become one of my favorite tracks from Manners. Trust me, it is hard to pick clear standouts on a great album like Manners. They disabled embedding (why? such a pain in the arse lol), so your going to have to click one more time! Watch the video for Little Secrets , and please make sure you are not on any form of drugs! This one is NSFA (Not Safe For Acid). [...]
The very kind people at Sub-Pop/Bella Union have sent me an mp3 for Teen Dream 's first single "Norway". They were also cool enough to send me an early stream of Teen Dream , and I have to say it is fantastic. "Norway" is one of the finer tracks on the album, although I don't know if it is "the best" song, but it is pretty damn close. Teen Dream is probably Beach Houses strongest album to date. This is coming from a recently obsessedBeach House fan who has been more than devoted to Devotion [...]
![[NEW] Vampire Weekend – Cousins](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2131517_lg.jpg)
Vampire Weekend are (officially) back! All is right in the world again! I have some college work to catch up on, but how could I concentrate when there is brand new Vampire Weekend to post about??? Vampire Weekend's new single "Cousins" is finally here in recorded form! I can give up listening to Cousins live all day now. Hurray! My roommate will certainly be pleased! If I had to compare it to a song on their debut album, it would have to be "A-Punk". Both are short, quick, pumping rockers. I really adore Ezra's quick chants [...]

Ah, Cold War Kids. How I miss the days of your initial blog buzz. They were practically hailed the saviors of indie rock, with sold gig, after sold out gig. Their debut album was very solid, giving us really memorable songs like "Hang Me Up To Dry" and "Hospital Beds". They came back with album # 2, and it was sadly somewhat forgettable in the end. When Cold War Kids debuted "Something Is Not Right With Me", I was sort of half for it, and half disappointed. It lacked omph. It turned out it was the first warning [...]
![[NEW] Arctic Monkeys – Fright Lined Dining Room](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2127633_lg.jpg)
photo via Adrian Pehrson Why are Arctic Monkeys so god damn good? Can't they just release their singles like a normal band with average b-sides, or just attach some mediocre live performance? Nope, not the Arctics. They have to go release songs that actually compete with their album tracks for quality. Like the new b-side "Fright Lined Dining Room". One word can describe it perfectly: Immense. "Fright Lined Dining Room" may have one of the best bass grooves that I have heard from the Arctics/Nick. It makes me want to go [...]
:Kinema: give an interesting electo/dance cover of the almost already indie classic "My Girls". It is a very clean, crisp, cover of the song. Definitely an interesting take on the song. I don't know too much about :Kinema: otherwise. Time to do research! Visit them on myspace! [mp3] : :Kinema: - My Girls (Animal Collective Cover)
Having his blog has changed my music listening habits. With a blog, comes having a blog email address. With that comes new music. I am lucky enough to receive new music everyday! Not complaining there! Obviously, some days are better than others. I have gotten some pretty good stuff sent to me as of late, with band Morningbell being the latest! (I wonder if the name is associated with Radiohead??) They are a Florida based quartet that just released their 4th album, titled Sincerely, Severely . I have only head two songs of theirs, which [...]
![[new] Frightened Rabbit – Swim Until You Can't See Land](http://cache.elbo.ws/posts/2123815_lg.jpg)
I have been sitting on this Frightened Rabbit track for a few weeks now. I didn't feel the timing was right 2 weeks ago. I finally got some news on their new album, and now my post can be timely! Woo-hoo! Frightened Rabbit are heading into 2010 knowing that they will release their new album The Winter Of Mixed Drinks . This is a great thing for indie music fans. We can only expect great things after their wonderful 2008 album The Midnight Organ Flight . I am excited to hear the new record, [...]
MPP came out almost 10 months ago! Wow, has it really been that long? With their new EP Fall Be Kind coming out soon, the band is still perfectly busying heading into the new year. They are keeping their momentum going with the release of their official video for "In The Flowers". The video, as you expected, is bizzare and trippy, featuring plenty of flowers. It was directed by Abby Portner . Watch it below!! : Click here to view the embedded video.

I am still waiting to hear Animal Collective's new EP, Fall Be Kind . In the meantime, we have the Brother Sport single to hold us over. It comes with a live version of Bleeding, a track off the Fall Be Kinde EP . The live version was recording in California during their tour earlier this year. The live version is extended to almost 9 minutes with echoing layered vocals from Avery and Panda Bear. The song breaks down into trippy/hectic sounds that almost sound like the Smoke Monster from Lost. They also add parts of [...]

Atlas Sound (a.k.a.) Bradford Cox put up a virtual 73 of two new songs on his blog. The virtual 73 features "Doctor" which is a Five Discs Cover, and a new Atlas Sound song called "The Screens" They are both highly enjoyable tracks that should help me soundtrack my boring Wednesday night. I am procrastinating on work, and listening to lazy/chill Atlas Sound songs like "The Screens" doesn't help the process! The Fave Discs Cover is pretty upbeat. Sounds like it could have been a pretty retro track. Turns out that is because they are a doo-wop [...]
Just came across this pretty epic live video of U2 playing "Sunday Bloody Sunday" live at Brandenburg Gate in Dublin. What makes this video special is that Jay-Z himself comes out to spit some rhymes. How cool is that? "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is one of my favorite songs of all time, it is practically a perfect song. Never thought I would see Jay-Z on the same stage as U2. Pretty cool huh! This is a great performance by U2, [...]
