[new]: The National – Sea Of Love

[new]: The National – Sea Of Love After just hearing The National play "Sea Of Love" live last night , it was great to see them release them debut it with a music video. They revealed it during their AMA session on Reddit . The band perform in a tiny room all bunched in together rocking out, along with a kid who does a mean air guitar. It turns out the video is a homage to this Russian song . Don't know how they found that one, but the video rocks, so I'm glad that they did. Enjoy [...]

The National @ Park Ave Armory (May 7, 2013)

The National @ Park Ave Armory (May 7, 2013) Tonight The National played a special secret show at the Park Ave Armory. It was a private invite only show (thanks Joe ) that was a taping for Live From the Artists Den . This performance came only two days after playing "Sorrow" for 6 hours straight . Coming into the show I had no idea what to expect. I figured since it was a free show, we would get a small but sweet set: a bunch of new songs as well as a few of the older classic cuts. That would have [...]

[music video]: Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Mosquito

[music video]: Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Mosquito Yeah Yeah Yeah's have taken an interesting aesthetic on new album Mosquito . The album art is um.. interesting, and now the video for the title track is here and is one you will not be able to forget. It shows just what happens when a mosquito takes a go at your blood, from two different angles. If you hate mosquitos or are squimish at all, this may be one your better off avoiding.

Honeydrum – Hot Star / A Year Of My Love

Honeydrum – Hot Star / A Year Of My Love Honeydrum are a New Brunswick, New Jersey band that tap into a lo-fi aesthetic that may call to mind Ariel Pink. He just released two new songs, "Hot Star" & "A Year Of My Love" and I'm loving what I'm hearing. "Hot Star" a washed out track that feels as if it was forever trapped in an 80s cassette tape. "A Year Of My Love" is a lush track that sounds like a lost dream fading even further to the darkness. Both tracks will appear on a Gnar Tapes/Burger Records tape that will be released this summer. [...]

Cam Allen – Tangerine

Cam Allen – Tangerine My friend Brian pointed me to this excellent track, bluntly saying he wished this is what Wavves had become. It's a track from a band named Cam Allen who just released a 3-song EP titled Talking To Animals . Immediately it hooks you in a on a poppy hook that is built into his slacker garage rock sound. Apparently this is their first release, and that makes "Tangerine" even more impressive. Digging this quite a bit. Download it below. if you're enjoying it, buy his EP for your own [...]

Blur Working On New Album In Hong Kong

Blur Working On New Album In Hong Kong The ever-growing tale of Blur's new album has been a will they or won't they mystery that has eluded us for years. Just when we seem to be inching closer, only for Damon Albarn and the rest of Blur to pull away just as easily. During the bands performance in Hong Kong during the AsiaWorld-Expo, Albarn dropped some major news. He was quoted saying: So we have a week in Hong Kong, and we thought it would be a good time to try and record another record." [...]

Foals / Surfer Blood @ Terminal 5 (May 3, 2013)

Foals / Surfer Blood @ Terminal 5 (May 3, 2013) Not many bands out there are doing what Foals do. Mixing elements of math-rock that makes you rock out and dance simultaneously, as well as creating blissful moments of sincere beauty that will stop you dead in your tracks. They put all of this on full display with relative ease. Many people who were in attendance on Friday night are calling it one of the best shows of 2013 - if not the best. I can't really argue with that. Blondfire opened things with a poppy set that was [...]

[new]: Vampire Weekend – Ya Hey

[new]: Vampire Weekend – Ya Hey We are getting quite close to the release of Vampire Weekend's new album Modern Vampires Of The City . We already heart "Step" & "Diane Young" as well as a bunch of other songs live. One of these is "Ya Hey" which as a live version has slowly been growing on me, which is saying something. Today they have released an official lyric video for "Ya Hey" that gives us a clearer look at the song. There are elements from their debut/Contra here with a more refrained reflective sound mixed with their African [...]

Mozes And The Firstborn – I Got Skills

Mozes And The Firstborn – I Got Skills Mozes and the Firstborn are a young Dutch-band, and the latest signing to Burger Records . Below you can listen to the killer garage rock tune "I Got Skills." Mozes And The Firstborn definitely are a talented group with loads of skills. They instantly draw you in with their laid back jangly approach of old-school guitar rock that belongs in a boozy little garage. It's off their s/t debut album out now via Burger Records .

[Watch] MGMT Play New Song “Your Life Is A Lie” Live

[Watch] MGMT Play New Song “Your Life Is A Lie” Live The other day MGMT played a new song called "Mystery Disease" during a show at Penn State. Now a few days later during their show at the State Thetre in Portland, Maine, they played another new song, this time titled "Your Life Is A Lie." It seems to cut off half-way because the recorder wanted to enjoy the rest of the song as well. Fair point. So enjoy half of a new song from MGMT below.

Wampire – Trains

Wampire – Trains Wampire will release their debut album Curiosity on May 14 via Polyvinyl Records . I loved the album's single "The Hearse" , and now Rolling Stone has premiered another cut. It's "Trains" a rollicking cut about been young and impressionistic about love while waiting for a delayed train. Eric Phipps of Wampire explains: "Trains" was written during a time when I was young and overly idealistic about love. A lady was driving me wild with her strange affection and I was naively waiting for it to 'mean [...]
