Hot Buttered Soul

Hot Buttered Soul I remember growing up in a free spirited house and spending sunday afternoon's trolling through the folks record collection looking for new gems… The big ass headphones, the oversized covers and liner notes, that first crackle as the needle hit the record. It was a ritual. In amongst the usual Hendrix, Zeppelin and Cream album's I still remember finding a record with some cat with a bald head and 'Hot Buttered Soul' in the corner. I remember thinking it was different to the psychadelic covers I was use to so I took it out of it's sleeve and onto the [...]

Stockholm Syndrome

Stockholm Syndrome Sweden is the home of many fine things, particularly its artists and hot Nordic women. Most recently they've produced musicians of such calibre as the Swedish House Mafia who are currently dominating the House music scene worldwide, through to eclectic songsmith's Peter, Bjorn & John . The latest underhyped but overtalented talent to appear on the radar is the uber sexed up sound of Stockholm's own Lykke Li . Her debut album Youth Novels has been on high rotation in the The Hype's playlist for the last couple of months. [...]

Wolfmother no more…

Wolfmother no more… In what is a pretty sad day for Australian live music, it was announced that in the comedown from a massive Splendour in the Grass Bender, seminal nu-rock group Wolfmother have decided they can't be in the same room anymore… This must be a massive blow for already struggling record label Modular , who counted the world conquering, record sale getting and massive festival headlining group amongst its biggest signed acts. You know, if I was making hundreds of thousands of dollars touring the world [...]

Danger Danger

Danger Danger To add to the already big track, Into the Galaxy (as posted below) my good friends over at Trashbags just sent me a new, and even more amazing version of this track. Danger has done wonders to the original, and hopefully we will be able to hear this track more and more out in the clubs. Midnight Juggernauts – Into the Galaxy (Danger Remix) Earlier on in the year he did a remix of Boys Noize's Oh! which blows my mind (I highly recommend you [...]

The Juggernaut

The Midnight Juggernauts are getting the remix treatment lately (and it's about time too). I really love the introduction to the Architecture in Helsinki remix of Into The Galaxy. It makes for a quirky introduction (the guy's voice also sounds like the Moon from The Mighty Boosh). Midnight Juggernauts – Into the Galaxy (Architecture in Helsinki Remix) Grandmaster Flash also did an amazing rework of the track which surprised me as I would have never expected him to do an indie remix. None the less it is right up [...]

Cut Copy Remixes

Cut Copy Remixes I just came across a new Cut Copy remix. Every time I come across anything done by them I get all excited as I don't expect anything but amazing from them. I don't have much else to say on the matter except download it and enjoy it. CSS – Move (Cut Copy Remix) And if you somehow managed to be hiding over the past year and missed these other awesome Cutters remixes you can check them out below. [...]

What Justice?

What Justice? After reading an article on the new range of Justice gear, I was shocked as to how much it all cost. Prices/Range can be viewed here . You must be insane to pay 790€ just for a jacket (regardless of how nice they are). I guess 150€ is ok for the jeans, as it is around the same price as any other label. Although if you're trying to flaunt the label because it is Justice, no one would ever know unless you showed them the Justice For All tag? [...]

Why Don't You Talk Like That?

Why Don't You Talk Like That? The Presets are currently releasing their third single 'Talk Like That' from their platinum album 'Apocalypso'. There have been a few remixes floating around the blogosphere (Miami Horror, Dave Spoon, Jence). My favourite being produced by Jence (one half of the duo DIGITALISM ), giving it a solid digitalism sound. As always Miami Horror's remix is up there too along with Dave spoon , adding his usual house touch to everything he does. Have a listen and and see for yourself. [...]
