On their way towards the albumet "Braided Memos" which will be released April 20th, the duo Sameblod have released the song "Loud" as a first taste. And "Loud" certainly deserves it's name in this bombastic electronica pop. It still echoes in my room and my chair is vibrating from the deep bass. You can follow Sameblod on Facebook and on Tumblr . The first EP they made last year is available on Bandcamp . Loud

Behind the artist name Pro424 you'll find Max Karlander. The name comes from the word project and the name of the Tascam portable studio Max used for his first recordings. He's released two albums so far and the latest one, the EP "Dreams" was released in December; an album with mainly electronica pop fit for the dance floor. The first album "Soundtrack of a Frozen Time", was released a year ago and went in a completely different direction with more chillout and ambient music. You can listen to his music on Bandcamp , on Spotify [...]

The trio Uppgång & Fall ("Rise and Fall") have taken their band name from the song with the same name by Ebba Grön, which you may have guessed. The punk rock they play has less in common with exactly that Ebba album, and more in common with the early Ebba Grön and the original Swedish garage punk. To me they are a little like punk rock in a nutshell: Just pick up the instruments and go, we're going to change this bloody world, be just who you wanna be and noone can miss the message when the [...]

Here is the latest single from pop experimental Fortune Cookies Blues , "Where Is My Plough". This suggestive, dreamy song was created around the sound of falling water drops from a leaking tap and all the chords and harmonies have their origin in the band playing along to this sample, a sample which is still in the song. The band name is a little different and I asked them how they came up with it: Originally Fortune Cookies Blues is the name of a little piece of art music, and this name simply stuck [...]

Här är den senaste singeln pop-experimentella Fortune Cookies Blues , "Where Is My Plough".

Petter Lindhagen calls his instrumental one man band Tired Tape Machine . The name is taken from an album by Smog from 1990, as Petter thought that his first album "Somewhere Safe" sounded a little bit like a tired old tape recorder. Recently he released the album "Between Raindrops", a quite pleasant instrumental experience. It has a filmic vibe, and I easily play images in my mind as I listen. He dives in and out of different genres and mixes them, but without being difficult to access. No, this is very easy to absorb and sink into, with [...]

Josef Kå, hailing from Malmö, released in November their debut EP "Lusthuset", an album that gives me somwhat mixed emotions. The music moves from soft pop ballads to funk pop. The funkier parts don't grab my attention at all as they feel a little too cautious and lack the expression to hook me up, but in the more straight pop parts it works really good. It's at it's best in the two pop ballads you can listen to here below, where their sense of melodies, vocal harmonies and the rather naked sound makes a beautiful combination. Listen on [...]

You can call it acoustic folk punk or Swedish progressive music if you'd like. The band JA! , hailing from Umeå, released this year their debut album "Vi heter ja" ("Our name is YES!"); 8 songs with clenched fists, sing-a-long refrains an Swedish prog melancholy. They call themselves street musicians and the frequent performances in streets and town squares is what has shaped the band's music. The singer Johan Wallén writes: Since May 2010 we have played for thousands of people in the streets. 12 people here, 40 people there, 100 people there and then for 6 [...]

The band name Aerials was invented when Christoffer Franzén was considering different words that described the music that was inside his head: Airy, space, cinematic, melodic. The word Aerials popped up and he felt that it had just the right touch for what he wanted to express. The music he then produced does feel a lot like he described it to himself. There's an airy sound with post rock vibes often running for grand crescendos. He alternates between instrumental songs, that certainly could fit well in movies, and songs with vocals. He tells that sometimes a melody [...]

The last time I wrote about John Duva , a little more than half a year ago, they were just about to release an EP, when they signed with the label Transsubstans . They changed the goal to release a full length album instead, and last month it was finally launched. If you have liked them before, you will hardly be disappointed now. Here they perfect their route to raw, punk-influenced garage rock with lyrics in both Swedish and English, and you can listen to and download the song "Arbetsnarkomaner" ("Workaholics") here below. The album is [...]

The main influence for The Grand New Wrong is the grunge era with the prominent figures Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam et al. And this is also evident when you listen to the band's latest EP "Seconds", which was released last year. "Seconds" is their second EP, and a new single is also on it's way; a single you can listen to on their site . The bass player Björn Granat tells me that the band name had been on his mind even before the band was formed. The Grand New Wrong stands for his view [...]

Normally William Hamparsomian plays and writes music in the band Another Nation's National Anthem . Last year he started writing music on his own and created the project Dream Curtain to have an outlet for these songs. Here it's about a dreamy electronica, somewhat lo-fi and far from the band's guitar driven, alternative rock. He tells that the music is created spontaneouly at the spur of the moment, and that it's difficult to remember what he thought about when he created it, and that applies to the artist name as well. But now afterwards he finds the word [...]

The trio Vidar , hailing from Karlstad, released their debut EP "Yet" last year. They serve an acoustic americana inspired by Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver, with nice vocal harmonies, earthy, simple arrangements and a bunch of good songs. You can listen on their Bandcamp page or on Spotify . Follow them on their site and on Facebook . What Did I Know

Now we in Bus Stop Dreams have released our third single, "Come Together" (and no, it's not a Beatles cover). There are two songs, written by Lasse Thomasson and Pär Enqvist respectively, treating the same subject but from two different perspectives. "A dystopian group cuddle" we call it. The singer on the title track is Andreas Lundgren and on the second song "Let Us Light a Fire" Ulla Wrethagen is singing. You can listen to and download the songs here below, and you can also find these and our other songs on Bus Stop Dreams' music page . [...]

To the department of remarkable band names we can add the trio Sterile Hermaphrodite, hailing from Uddevalla. And the music is also remarkable, which you can hear on their latest EP, "Big Fat Pussy Club", where they serve their own, nice version of stoner rock mixed with punk vibes and streaks of metal. Listen more on their Facebook page , on Spotify or on Wimp . Tangaboy

I'm going to finish this week with some punk, or at least in that direction. It's Sharon , hailing from Stockholm, that has presented som great intense and raw rock on a three-track EP recently, represented below by the slowest of the three songs, "Graverobbers Blues". The band started out about a year ago and was initially named Skulls, a name the members weren't entirely satisfied with. One of the song, "Sharon", is about Sharon Tate and during a dinner it was suggested that it should be the band's name as well, and it was settled. [...]

Calidus , hailing from Norrköping, released their second EP in the Autumn, "Dust & Kerosene". It's four tracks with positive vibes, maybe inspired by The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys, with a rather raw nice sound with a nice rasp to it, and pleasant melodies both from the guitars and the vocals. You can find Calidus on Facebook and listen to the EP on Spotify . Dust & Kerosene

Foto: Lucas Frisk Bergqvist If someone can take over the heritage of Wilmer X ' "malmöitic" rock veins today, it's probably Dalaplan . And then I'm thinking about the Wilmer X that during the eighties toured like crazy and shouted "Kör dig död" to the audience while the sweat poured all over the scene. There's not as much blues in Dalaplan's music, but the more of punk, garage and energy, more than enough for everyone. The five member band Dalaplan was formed from the remnants of Pachanga , which I have written about before. In [...]
