Sebastian Gyllmeister, Martin Engborg andVictor Adolfsson form the band The Cobra Trio and recently they released their first EP, "Cobra Fever". They produce a tight and dense rock, surely with influences from various directions. My first thoughts though, goes to the early seventies with heavy blues rock, some Black Sabbath and a glimpse of psychadelia, but there's also lots of vibes from contemporary rock so I wouldn't call it retro overall. Listen for yourself on The Cobra Trio's Facebook page or on Soundcloud . 1406

Here's a first taste of Hugo Lindmark's upcoming EP, "Bilder som snurrar". You may recognize Hugo from the band Greta & the One Night Stands, which I wrote about before. Follow Hugo on his site and on Facebook . Here's "Smal som jag": Smal som jag

I wrote about Vampyramiden a year ago as they took us out on a lo-fi train trip and partied on a "borrowed train" on their first EP. Now they've released their second EP "Teenage Destiny"; four songs of lo-fi pop you'll recognize from the earlier EP, but this time with stronger songs and melodies I think. Despite the title of the EP they sing in Swedish and the themes this time is about school anxiety and natural disasters. Listen to the album on their site and also meet the band on their [...]

After the solo debut last year with the album "The Denial of Me, Myself & I" Petter Seander now continues with the follow-up album "Til Death Do Us Apart". Petter is mostly known for playing with Kristian Anttila during the last 6 years. I have listened way too little to Kristian to be able to compare the two of them, but it's clear that mr. Anttila participates on the album, which may not come as a surprise after such a long collaboration. Despite the heavy subject the new album is full of energy and [...]

According to Elliot, Projekt Elliot is a lo-fi effort with Swedish (from Skåne) lyrics and expression. Recently he released the three-track EP "Del 1: Äventyr i Lo Fi" ("Part 1: Adventures in Lo Fi"). I wouldn't really call it lof-fi when it comes to the sound; what he's referring to is the simplicity of it all, as it's all about Elliot and his acoustic guitar, no more no less. And that's good enough for me. It's calm and low-voiced, but still it becomes charged in the somewhat mellow ambience. He sings about going your [...]

Shotgun Crackers is back with new music. They released their debut album in Spring and now they follow this with the three-track EP, "Lockdown PT. 13. It seems like they're planning a series of EP:s in the time to come, instead of heading directly for a new full length album. You can listen to the EP on Spotify and on their Bandcamp page . And you can find them on Facebook . Here's the first song "Sinister": Sinister
The Volcano, hailing from Göteborg, has recently released their first self-titled EP. Three songs of somewhat different character, but it feels punk, live and like a real nice gust of fresh air. I imagine that it would be great to see this trio live, which is confirmed when I look at one of the live clips on their Facebook page . You can listen to the EP on their Bandcamp page . All My Friends Are On Pills

The Percivals , hailing from Göteborg, released a couple of weeks ago their second album "The Percivals". I haven't listened to them before, so I can't compare with their first album. But here I find that they firmly takes us back to the sixties' british rock scene when The Kinks and The Who was at their heights, and that they also make some escapades across the Atlantic and give hints of some inspiration from early country rock like in "Man With the View" here below. They sort of squeeze out some of the best parts from this [...]

"Down Down Down" is the name of Gustav Nilsson's first single from upcoming album "Makeup On Letdowns Off", scheduled for release this month. You can listen to and download this sixties'-vibing song here below. You can find Gustav Nilsson on his site and more songs are available on Soundcloud . Down Down Down

When the first song "Silhouettes" starts on the trio Desertsongs' new album, I'm swept into a nice mellow ambience that smells of Autumn nights. This melancholy stays over the entire album, which also gives me the sensation that it's part of a soundtrack to a classic movie drama. Some of this feeling comes from the storytelling in the songs and the singer Minna Bolin's special tone and jazz feeling in her voice. The combination of the electronica sound, with vibes from the eighties, the minimalistic arrangements and the melodies and the sometimes special harmonies, create a [...]

It feels quite different to write this post, to say the least. And that's because Bus Stop Dreams is my own band. Well, not only my band, but also my colleague Lasse Thomasson's and several other members'. My first thoughts was to hand this over to someone else to write about, or to not write at all, but then I thought that this blog is very much about me presenting music I like, so why not write it myself? Bus Stop Dreams is the name of the band and besides me the band consists of Lasse [...]

I discovered Jon Rinneby and his special ability of creating melodies that stick, a couple of years ago . It's hard to put your finger on it but all my alarm signals shouted out that this was a songwriter who had that extra creativity to craft songs that you can't get rid of. That he's not more well-known is just because of that he hasn't put his marketing puzzle together yet. It seems, though, that this is on it's way with his band Turn Off Your Television , a trio that recently released their self-titled debut [...]

Here's a short post about the electro pop duo LCTRISC who have released a new single, "Sunbird". A little different than the songs from their last EP and a really good pop song. And they continue to produce interesting music videos, once again in collaboration with Johan Stolpe. Listen more to LCTRISC on Facebook . Sunbird

"Falla Tryggt" is the name of the band Lys ' debut album, an album that the band's been working on for three years. I think it's very suitable that they release the album now in the beginning of the Autumn, considering the feeling I get from the music. It feels like walking around in a quiet Autumn forest where the leafs have just begun to shift their colour, kicking at some heaps of leafs, dreaming and looking back at things. It's warm, mellow and soft pop with folk and jazz vibes, where the singer Erika Nordahl's soft [...]

Fluru means tousled hair in the the folk dialect in Jämtland, Sweden. The music from the 9 person strong band Fluru doesn't feel that tousled though, but I can sense some ambience from Jämtland. Not that it sounds like folk music, but from the melancholy and the fatefulness that fit well with the picture I have of the big landscapes in the north of Sweden. Another association, which is enhanced by the cello, the accordion, the walz tempo and the harmonies, is that to Leonard Cohen, who also has been an inpiration for the singer and songwriter [...]

One Two Die For was formed in the Autumn in 2010 and consists of members from metal band Centicore and ex pop/rock band Becky Sharp . Recently they released the album "First Blood" which you can listen to on Spotify . It feels like American-influenced pop/rock for the arenas, with indie vibes and some ingredients from Queen. And it's Queen they've used as a model when it comes to creating grand choruses and choirs, which you can hear clearly in "You Kicked My Heart In the Ass" here below. I can [...]

The band John Duva was just about to release their new EP "Vinter" ("Winter") when they a couple of weeks ago signed with the label Transsubstans with the aim to release a full length album in the Autumn instead. So right now, we will have to satisfy ourselves with a taste of that. It's garage rock and some punk, like a messier The Hives, I hear on these songs. From the EP there still remain two songs on their Soundcloud page you can listen to. There's also an earlier album from 2009 available [...]

Bulldog Mack was formed a year ago and this spring they released their first EP, "Stack'em Up". Their inspiration comes from classic rock'n'roll from the sixties and the seventies, first of all from The Who and Kiss, and when I listen to the songs I hear a lot of the last-mentioned in the music. Loads of classic rock riffs are delivered together with a large dose of passion and nice melody hooks. Not much innovation, just plain irresistable rock'n'roll without diversions. They have promised some new songs within short, and to keep track of this you can [...]
