I know I'm super late but I have good excuses. I've been distracted by the Olympics and by my newly purchased motorcycle (super excited!!!) Apparently I'm in a dancing mood this week with quite a few electronic/house/club/rap sounds. Don't worry, there is plenty of indie in there too. Passion Pit - I've [...]

Real quick shout out to Suz and Rosh for commenting that the Jaguar Love song, "Bats Over The Pacific Ocean," sounded similar to "Lost In A Supermarket" by The Clash. I'm impressed that folks know their Clash and I'm happy that other people hear the same weird things as me. This week, we start out rocking, before a quick slow down with some folk sound, coming back out with modern flamenco into a nice dance beat with a little psycho-soul, some disco, and finishing off with afro-pop. [...]
Oh, you know, the usual. Some indie, some rock, some folk, a cover (for good measure), and a little dance beat at the end. The Enemy UK - Away From Here I think you can guess where these guys are from. They remind me of The Fratellis in that I want to punch my fist [...]
A day late, but hopefully still good. This is probably my most "alternative" mix with only one song that sounds electronic/techno and that could be argued. Johnny Flynn - Tickle Me Pink Singer/songwriter from Britain, he is the frontman for Sussex Wit which recorded this record with him but he is the one credited. Fun upbeat song with [...]
A friend suggested that I come up with some way that people could buy the songs that I post every week and I have yet to find a nice plugin for mixwit to talk with iTunes or any of the other major sites, but I did stumble across iMixes. So I created my first iMix for this week's New Music mix. It's not every song since iTunes didn't have every song, but the ones it's missing, you can download from my site. So just click the link at the bottom and if you have iTunes you should be all set. Hope [...]
This week starts off with some indie-pop, moves into some folk/old-school sound, and then finishes off with techno and electronica. A little something for everyone. The Dresden Dolls - Dear Jenny Alternative duo out of Boston that has a heavy cabaret influence. Known more for solemn songs they have opened for Nine Inch Nails and Panic at [...]
A slightly eclectic mix this week. Lots of singer/songwriters but also found some rap, dreamy-indie, power-pop, and a ridiculously produced female artist. Emiliana Torrini - Me and Armeni Singer/songwriter of Italian and Icelandic decent, resides in England. You might recognize her voice from the finale music for Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers . She has a beautiful soft [...]
Ratatat - Falcon Jab This rock-meets-electronica duo is from New York. I'm super excited to see them on Thursday at Slims. This song shows the atmospheric nature of their music. Beck - Gamma Ray I've been a big fan of Beck for a long time and I like the sound of his new record, Modern Guilt. He collaborated with Danger Mouse and I think the relationship has proven to be a good one. Birdmonster - Born To Be Your Man I'm always excited [...]
New music posted. This week there are a few more folk, singer/songwriter tracks than usual, but there are some seriously good dance tracks in here too. I think my must buy this week might be Hot Chip. Enjoy: Dangermaker – All For You Local SF band at the top. This song has been out for awhile (and you can download it off their website for free) but [...]
New music has been posted. In case you haven't noticed, mixwit has implemented a playlist feature so you can see all the songs. Very nice. Pop Levi – Never Never Love English musician who used to play bass for Ladytron and is now living in LA. I like how catchy this song is even though it uses a lot of unusual sounds. Sunset – When [...]
