Of Montreal are one of those ' Pitchfork Bands ' that I've learned to become weary of. For one thing, pitchfork only seems to award good reviews to bands that they can pride themselves on predicting that they'll be 'the next big thing'. I'm talking about the Deerhunter's, Animal Collective's, and Panda Bear's. Don't get me wrong, I love all those groups, but when PF seems to go out of it's way to be different by giving a great album a bad review, I tend to be a little cautious about what I select to listen to based on [...]

We here at Rollin' and Scratchin' have had a bit of a love affair with the UK's Fake Blood this last year. That being said, we haven't heard much from him in a while. We were beginning to crave another remix like a crack-head craves his next fix. Luckily for all of us, the ever so elusive and mysterious Fake Blood has graced us with another classic. We give you his take on Hot Chip's recent, 'Touch Too Much'. Hot Chip - Touch Too Much (Fake Blood Remix) [...]

To celebrate the release of their new documentary 'A Cross The Universe', Justice have taken a page out of Daft Punk's book and released some live tracks from their most recent tour. Sure, it's not as if Justice hadn't been compared to Daft Punk enough, but lets face it, they did share the same manager . Hell, I think Busy P knows a thing or two about marketing stadium electronic acts, don't you? Listening to these tracks sends the same shivers up my spine I got when I was crowd surfing across the Sound [...]

I think everyone at Rollin' & Scratchin' know that I'm an Ocelot fanatic. I just love everything Ocelot does, it's as simple as that. Well this time The Killers song Human gets a much needed remix that takes it from the dregs of contemporary culture (maybe a little harsh for a Stuart Price produced song) and lifts it to a quality dance floor pleaser. It's not as hard as their Pacey Singer remix but that's probably because they wanted to appeal to a wider audience, including fans of the original. It's [...]

A while ago, we got a message from a 20 year old producer in Tokyo asking us to check out his music. After a bit of back in forth with this kid name Ryuto, we sort of lost track of his tunes until one popped up on my itunes this morning. Astrolabe draws from various influences for his productions including fellow Japanese experimentalists, Yellow Magic Orchestra to Mr. Oizo . His sample-laden bleep-house has had me tapping my toes at my desk all morning. Be on the look out for this kids [...]

I woke up yesterday morning to a tasty message in my inbox from Fools Gold Records . In support of the newly launched Bacardi B-live series, Chromeo has teamed up with some of Fools Gold's staple producers to release a couple hot remixes of their latest single, '100 %'. I know, I know...as if we haven't heard enough Chromeo remixes as it is! But trust us, these are worth listening to. You'd think the pairing of Chromeo and Fools Gold artists wouldn't be such a long time coming with A-trak and Dave 1 [...]

Etienne de Crecy may not be the first artist on your playlist, but he can be name-dropped with a tight crew. Having gone to school with the likes of Air and Alex Gopher , Etienne worked in studios alongside Cassius and is no stranger to some of the biggest names in electronic music. Now, with a few releases under his belt and some mighty fine remix work, Etienne can start getting some more recognition on this side of the pond. Have a listen. Am I [...]

This is for all the people that only started listening to Sébastien Tellier because his CD Sexuality was jammed down your throat as soon as you walked into American Apparel. To be honest, I don't really care how people get introduced to good music as long as they truly appreciate it and don't start listening to it because the Creative Director of AA is the pied-piper of hipsterdom. In reality (as opposed to non-reality I guess), this post is not fueled by dumb AA obsessed frat girls but instead by Daft Punk's ultimate electro [...]

Until now, we've only really heard a handful of remixes from Sydney-bred, Bag Raiders . Well, they've finally graced us with a few originals to chew on. The first is their buzz-saw inspired 'Turbo Love' and second their sleeker, sexier, 'Shooting Stars'. For us here at R&S this is a sign of GREAT things to come from these Aussies. Bag Raiders - Turbo Love Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars

Mos Def was one of the first hip hop artists I was drawn to growing up as a white suburbanite kid in Toronto. It was a part of the whole 'underground hip-hop' mentality everyone was drawn to in the mid to late 90's. Shit, if I had known that my favourite so-called 'underground rapper' would move on to star in movies and Broadway productions, I probably would've disowned this Brooklyn-based MC right then and there. But I grew up, and such fickle ideas and fairy tales of 'selling-out' just don't faze me anymore. I mean [...]

In case you didn't already know, Database is the Brazilian dance project by producers Yuri Chix and Lucio Morais, which is heavily influenced by the new Maximal school of Electro House. After having over played their past material to the point of no return (at least for a couple months), I stumbled upon a couple of recently released Database tracks that we have to post. Doing a bit of a 180, these new Database tracks are sample heavy and chalked full of disco fury. Check out 'Burn Me Up' and 'Gotta Take [...]

I miss poutine. For those of you who don't know, poutine is basically french fries with cheese curds and gravy. It may sound gross to some people but as a former hater and now a certified lover, I can attest to the greatness that is poutine. A couple of months ago I moved back to the US and now live in a barren poutine-free land and it couldn't be any harder on me. In Canada it is pretty much assumed that, after catching a late night show or going to a club, your next adventure will be [...]

Alright. So a little while back I posted about Moulinex . Well, now it's time to take a look at his buddy hailing from Portugal, Xinobi . Not only do these two swap remix duties on their tracks, they also work together on their brand new label, Disco Texas . Aptly named label once you listen to the first track "Day Off" which features a driving, disco groove. "Losing Sight" touches on the more recent buzz-saw fad, but still keeps things fresh with some creative vocal samples. Por vous... Day [...]
In response to Christian's post yesterday , I just had to find this scene from 'Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure'. I know we don't usually post movies like this, but this scene is just too damn good to let go to waste. Enjoy Robbie Robb's 'In Time' in this futuristic scene from a classic stoner movie. This really makes you appreciate FutureCop's remix ...

We've certainly gone a little nostalgic on this Monday evening with all the 80's inspired electro tracks we've been posting lately. This time around, we've got swedish retro fiends, Stay Ali , being remixed by Hamburg's FutureFlashes. Check out FutureFlashes' remix of 'Emotional Day'. This track sounds like it should be played in the club scene from Scarface. Pure 80's filter disco. I dare you to not shake your hips. Stay Ali - Emotional Day (FutureFlashes Remix)

Again, I have pure heat to share with you. Our favorite 80's freaks Futurecop! have been watching Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (or listening to the soundtrack) enough to realize how amazing Robbie Rob's classic "In Time" is. I'm actually surprised that Futurecop! didn't name themselves Wyld Stallyns after Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan's fictional band. Regardless, Futurecop! speed up the tempo of the original and then give their 80's influenced electro touch that results in a nostalgic trip that will not disappoint. Robbie Robb - In [...]

Barletta is back, and he's in fine form. This time around he's reworked a track from TMDP's forthcoming self-titled debut album. When you listen to the original of 'Running', you can hear a faint french touch influence a-la Alan Braxe and Fred Falke. Well, Barletta does TMDP justice by not straying to far away from the original, but rather adding a hint of Barletta charm to ready this track as a dance floor killer. Keep an eye out for releases from both Barletta and TMDP in the coming months. Oh yeah, [...]

I guess good things come in pairs. I woke up this morning and to my delight, Sir Bob Rifo of The Bloody Beetroots had emailed me, asking us to post their latest remix for another Swedish Pop Star, Robyn . 'Cobrastyle' takes the Beetroots a few steps away from their usual floor crazy production style, and shows their versatility with this seemingly French-influenced italo track. You gotta love the Globalization of music. In other Bloody Beetroots news, their 'Rombo EP' has dropped and they've also been honoured by Steve Aoki's Dim Mak with [...]

A while ago, I declared Lykke Li as the new object of my affection. Since then, other girls have walked into and out of my life, but Lykke has remained dear to my heart. So, when Keith from AutoErotique (formerly VND/LSM) emailed me with this next track, I immediately became re-infatuated with this Swedish temptress. Have a listen to AutoErotique's remix of 'Little Bit'. This track has big room club written all over it! There's a nice balance between staying true to Lykke's bedroom sound and AutoErotique's mega club production. [...]

Honestly, I'm not trying to make all these posts about Breakbot , but until he stops killing it, I'm going to have to document his his slayings. The latest is a remix of Fatlip's classic "What's Up Fatlip". The way I found out about this song was really weird. Anyone who knows me knows I love 90s hip-hop music. So obviously "What's Up Fatlip" is a big favorite of mine and I've been listening to it a lot lately. This lead to the inevitable thought (inevitable as a blogger/former dj) of why someone hasn't remixed this song [...]
