One of my favorite new artists, Marina and the Diamonds has just unveiled her new video to her single, "Mowgli's Road". I can't believe how much disdain I have toward myself for finally giving in and liking this song. I mean, it's not like I haven't liked almost everything Miley Cyrus has done before (you think I'm joking), but this song I couldn't swallow the first few times I heard it. Something about using the term "tummy" and pretending that she listens to Jay-Z really turned me off. It's a big month for releases, with two albums shining above them all. One is from a returning favorite, and the other is a stellar debut. I think I'm one of three adults in the world who actually admits to liking parts (only parts, okay!) of the High School Musical series. I think it's only because it is a musical. I've been a fan of the musical for a while, but musicals always tend to be either awash in an overdose of saccharine - like HSM - or play a giant (sometimes gothic) drama - like Phantom of the Opera and Rent. I yearned for a musical with a sense of humor about itself. And I sure got one with the brilliant musical episode [...]

Madonna is about to release a greatest hits album called Celebration . I'm really digging the Warhol-tastic album art. After releasing a really lackluster single called, unsurprisingly, " Celebration " the pop legend leaks a new single featuring hip-hop golden boy, Lil Wayne . I've been getting some flack for only posting "mainstream music" by those who don't understand that I appreciate music as a whole. I must point out that so-called "mainstream" music is most definitely important and influential. And I'm not afraid to admit I genuinely like pop music (when it's done well). I don't  have the need to maintain an aura pretentiousness so people will like me. And I do like indie stuff - but only when that's good, too.
