Our boy Andrew is at it again and this time he's released his very last mixtape for 2009. Since this is his last mixtape of the year, he wanted to pour all the funk he could fit into 40minuites of gold and the Heavy Accents SWYF mixtape doest not disappoint. A few highlights include: Neon Indian, Moulinex's Two Door Cinema Club (discover this band if you haven't yet!) remix, Lindstrøm & Christabelle's latest collaboration remixed by Aeroplane, Friendly Fires' house-friendly remix of Phoenix, Chromeo's new retro-future single and Rubix's [...]

This one is just too good not to put up They say you should never try to repaint the Mona Lisa, but when a friend asks it's hard to say no. The Cut Copy boys had a bit of fun with this on a plane from Jakarta a few months back, and we thought you might enjoy it. This one's for Jerry. THE JUAN MACLEAN - HAPPY HOUSE (CUT COPY REMIX)

Finding new artists to bring into the cyber limelight has always been the number one goal of fakeRICH and now thanks to Nicky Savage we have another artist to be stoked on... BITCODE! Bitcode aka Mario Nieto has made a legitimate name for himself as a DJ by winning the Catalunya DMC championships at the age of 17 and at that age of 18 he became Spain's sub champion. Needless to say but this guy know how to scratch! Recently [...]

When I first heard that Pirelli was going to ask Terry Richardson to shoot their calender this year, I almost wished I had two dicks just so I could beat them both at the same time I know I know that opening paragraph was a little vulgar and I apologize for it, but I don't know how else to describe what a double wet dream would look like. It's obvious that cars and girls go hand in hand but this is just too amazing! On one [...]

Usually we leave the FEEL GOOD FRIDAY posts to just PrettyboyPaul because he's much more hip than we are... but this was really just TOO good not to put up Not many artists from Amsterdam make their way to the states, and when they do, they usually make all the kids loose their shit. .Rubix is one of those artists we CAN NOT WAIT too see live!! ALL of his songs are pretty epic.. but this is just ONE of the pure fire that he [...]

This Friday I bring you a CRYSTAL CASTLES video I shot from their secret show in LA a couple weeks ago. Alice Glass is one of my favourites to see live so click below and enjoy the show... From a show in 08 after they got into it with security for throwing a drum set off the stage... Their new LP is slated to drop in April along with an LP with their early Demos, don't sleep. [...]

Cottrell has been going on an interviewing spree lately and his latest interview is with one of LA's fastest rising DJs / Producers.. DJ SKEET SKEET "The interviews that I enjoy the most are the ones I do with my close friends. I have know Trevor "Skeet Skeet" for a minute now and he has always been the same down to earth person, that I met years ago. I sat down with Trev in-between him being on tour with Shwayze, as well as a solo act and he broke down all of [...]

Im sure many of you don't know this but one of my FAVORITE artist / designers of all time has to be FUTURA, his style has been copied by almost everyone and yet he still manages a way to stay ahead of the curve. His clothing line FUTURA LABORATORIES has done some epic collaborations in the past 4 years and the FUTURA name continues to grow internationally. Guillotine caught up with Futura while he was in France for a quick interview of what life has been [...]

Lately all the music I have been hearing has been nothing but junk, seriously NOTHING has impressed me until the one and only Nicky Savage turned me onto Jensen Sportag. Today's Music Monday post was almost going to be about how shitty ALL music has become and that you should just kill yourself now for actually liking the junk that is played on the radio. But you have all been saved by JENSEN SPORTAG!! To be honest with you I really dont know much about this dynamic duo... [...]

Today I post an homage to the Japanese Fashion Dream Team aka the JDM Rat Pack that is Hiroshi Fujiwara (FRAGMENT, SOPH.), Jun Takahashi (UNDERCOVER, NOWHERE), Hikaru Iwanaga (BOUNTY X HUNTER) and Nobu Kitamura (HYSTERIC GLAMOUR). A reocurring theme in all of their designs is the heavy presence of punk rock, especially apparent in Hikaru's BOUNTY X HUNTER line (Mykal's favourite). Hiroshi Fujiwara has grown and his desings have naturally matured to a more casual aesthetic, though his approach can be considered unconventional, much like punk rock itself. His music has changed from thrash to collaborations with mister Slowhand himself, [...]

We don't feature enough "Artsy stuff" on the site and this is our way for us to still stay "artistic"...who knows, we might even buy a couple pieces. In celebration of Juxtapoz's 15th Anniversary, they are throwing a huge charity art auction to benefit Power House in Detroit - a nonprofit charity for low income housing. Over 140 pieces of art have been donated for this incredible cause, and the viewing will be this Saturday in downtown LA from 7-11pm. Visitors will be able to bid for pieces on site. There will be an [...]

Many of you have heard of the ever so energetic Nicky Savage but not so many of you have heard of his new collective entitled FIERO .. much like Anoraak has VALERIE .. Nicky Savage has teamed up with some extremely talented musicians to form FIERO!! FIERO is one of those groups that is just as rooted in DJing as they are musical production. Yes these guys ACTUALLY play instruments and rumor has it that their debut performance is going to be with live instruments. [...]

Alright so I was able to score some Google Wave invites. And I want to give them away! For any of you non-geeks out there; Google Wave is Google's next attempt at trying to change the way we communicate with each other online. Think of it as a Chatroom, E-mail, Forum, Twitter, Facebook (Minus the profile crap), and Collaboration tool all in one. Even though that sounds overwhelming. Once they work out the kinks it should be pretty amazing. (Note: I pretty much love everything Google. I've worked with computers for a [...]

Well not really.. but HE might very well be in love, and love is "the drug" that inspired him to make this remix. One of the reasons why we love PRINCE KLASSEN so much is all of his tracks have got a soulful feel to them. Yeah he's not one of these DJ's / Producers that are pumping out track after track of mind numbing noise but when he does do a remix, he keeps the good parts of a song good and just enhances what was missing. Sometimes its much harder [...]

Last Sunday another musical great passed away after falling down an elevator shaft in NY. Gerhardt (Jerry) Fuchs was one of those people who let his talent do the talking for him. Jerry, was the drummer for such bands as The Juan Maclean, Holy Ghost, the Turning Machine and Maserati. We really dont know much about him, but we do know that his music has inspired many of us as well as many others in so many ways. As reported by the NY TIMES : [...]
After a much too long hiatus.. the ABC'S OF LA are BACK!! and this time Cottrell is pulling out some pretty fish out of the LA pond. This episode's feature is on RAYMOND ROKER the "co-founder" of URB magazine . His chat with Cottrell is pretty interesting so sit back and enjoy. "This episode of "The ABC's of LA" is very special to me because I feel like I got to hear a real chunk of Los Angeles History. Raymond Roker, the editor and chief of URB discusses [...]
