Amanda Palmer--famous for her stint as the front woman of The Dresden Dolls and her recent split from her old label, Roadrunner Records---is at it again. This time, with a short EP of Radiohead covers on the ukulele. Amanda F*cking Palmer (as she is often referred) does not f*ck around with these songs. IN fact, the EP is charmingly titled: AMANDA PALMER PLAYS THE POPULAR HITS OF RADIOHEAD ON HER MAGICAL UKULELE. Get the digital version from her website here . [...]

This post is obviously not an attempt to claim a discovery of Neon Indian or promote something we've all already read/heard/seen quite a bit about. BUT! This is a great remix of Neon Indian's "Psychic Chasms" done by New York band, Apache Beat. For someone who doesn't dabble tons in this genre, I can assure you that this is still definitely worth a listen. It's got all kinds of ethereal moments that take me to a Pink [...]

Andrew Combs would eat Nickelback. On an island. When choosing between them, Ke$ha, and Justin Beiber. Although, he might also eat them voluntarily—it's hard to sa y. That's just something [...]

Living in Nashville is an easy way to come across a lot of musicians with a myriad of stories: In fact, pretty much anywhere you turn in this city you're bound to stumble into someone with an instrument, a sonic revelation, and a story to tell. The musicians I like to find are not only those that capture people with their melodies, but those that have a unique, honest, and distinctive story about how they found their way to Music City and what it means for them to be here. [...]

This Interview will be about the band, One EskimO. -Answered by Jamie Sefton from One Eskimo- EIN: How do you feel like your fan base differs in London and other parts of England and Europe and the United States? OE: [...]

This interview will be about the band, This Will Destroy You . It is also about their new album, Tunnel Blanket . It is also about their show last week in [...]

I hadn't heard of One EskimO until recently, and after I did some research I realized I was a little bit behind the times. Anywho, they played Nashville's 3rd & Lindsley Thursday night (June 17), and it was, despite its high moments, one of the more lackluster shows I've seen in Nashville. Granted, I live in a city where it's nearly impossible to hear bad music at any given moment, but it's still possible to see shows that you'd rather not be at. That being said, unfortunately, this was one of the latter. The band lacked energy, [...]
Anyone that's ever been to Bonnaroo will tell you with extreme passion and relentless enthusiasm that it was, without a doubt, the most quintessential moment of their musical existance. What they will view and reveal as trivial dispensable moments are when they woke up in their tent nearly suffocating, the time they passed out in a field near the Troo Music Lounge, the sweaty guy at Phoenix who could potentially be charged for sexual harrassment, and the way their feet felt on Sunday night around 11:30. So, as a first-time Bonnaroo goer, I will give you [...]

My apologies for being on a week long hiatus, but Bonnaroo will do that to a person. First things first though: Free Energy at Exit/In last Wednesday in Nashville. For the record, these Philly rockers are bonafide rock stars, that is a fact one simply cannot argue wi th. Why? Well, unfortunately for these gentlemen, their stint in Nashville fell on a very musically crowded night: The night of the CMT Awards and the night before the ever-sweaty and always prolix Bonnaroo. Regardless, Free Energy, who oddly enough managed to trapse around Exit/In allll [...]

Free Energy: This interview will be about the band, Free Energy. If you haven't heard of Free Energy yet, it's fairly evident that you've been living under a small, albeit completely soul-consuming, rock for the past few months. These up-and-comers (or at least some of them) self-transplanted from Minnesota to Philadelphia, and in recent months they have managed to catch the eyes and ears of everyone from Rolling Stone to Spin to little old Ear it Now. Some of the members, starting off in the band, Hockey Night, have transformed [...]

I Will Not Be Myself 10. Blood Moon 11. Christ Jesus This is definitely a Deer Tick album. I realize that's probably the least articulate description I could put forth about this album, but some things have not changed. And, one of those things is John McCauley's (lead singer) scratching, howling, and borderline [...]
For any of those brave souls headed to Manchester, Tennessee this Thursday, I thought I'd just give you a brief rundown of those artists I'm most excited to see (and thus, those that you should check out if you get a chance!) 1. Frontier Ruckus: This new-folk outfit weaves clever and GRE-level vocabulary lyrics throughout all of its songs while managing to keep you wildly intrigued by the lead singer's unique voice and the suspender-clad banjo player. I saw them play a short set earlier this year in Nashville, and it was beyond noteworthy. Definitely catch [...]

If you thought Cadillac Sky was just a bluegrass band—you were wrong. If you thought they didn't play electric guitars or dance shirtless around beams on top of speakers—you were wrong. And if you thought they couldn't put on a rock 'n roll show for nearly an hour and a half straight—you were definitely wrong. Cadillac Sky's CD release show Wednesday night at the Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN was a well-rounded, one-of-a-kind rock show. I emphasize "rock" so adamantly because often its easy to meander into a show and expect the pigeon holed reviews from local [...]
Obviously I loved The Tallest Man On Earth before I went to the show this past Fri @ Lincoln Hall, but now i really love The Tallest Man On Earth. To avoid being cliche and redundant with all the Dylan comparisons and lengthy descriptions that nobody will read, I'll just say this: It's amazing that one guy with one guitar can captivate an audience like this guy. He literally needs no support whatsoever. He played nearly an hour and a half set, and only at the end for an encore [...]
Who? Josh Ritter & Joe Pug. Where? The Vic Theatre. When? This Past Saturday. A super epic show. Sold out crowd, all of whom seemed to be completely engrossed in every word Josh Ritter was saying/singing. Ritter clearly loves what he is doing, and he was endlessly appreciative of the crowd--something all fans can't get enough of. He played a smattering of his songs--enough from the new album, but quite a bit from the old stuff. And, my favorite part? [...]
This is a somewhat shameless post; however, if I get to Bonnaroo that means more show reviews, free music, promo packages, etc. for Ear it Now! Wanna help? Vote for the video here. Tracklist: 1. Loxtep 2. Turncloaking 3. Sweet Sister 4. Holler and Howl 5. Flesh And Blood I want to listen to this EP underwater, I've decided. It's just so perky and each melody blends so swiftly into the next strings of vocals and instrumentation that its hard not to want to hear this while gliding around underwater. Annuals, a group of six (5 guys, 1 chick) from North Carolina, have been around for a few years (plus some), and this is [...]
