A while back , I posted Kids at the Bar 's remix of Sleepyhead. Since then I've discovered that these dudes have other awesome remixes. Seriously. White Lies M83 are one of my favourite remix artists, they produce either massive, beautiful epics or bangin' dance-inducing remixes. Battery in Your Leg just got a hold of this new remix of White Lies , Nothing to Give . It's one of those beautiful epics I was talking about. It's very good too, get it while you can. David Byrne has released a new live EP recorded on his current tour. It's called Everything That Happens Will Happen on This Tour , nifty little title there. Three of the tracks are from last year's phenomenal album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today and another track from 1981's My Life in the Bush of Ghosts . I saw Grafton Primary at the East Brunswick club last week and they were seriously good. I was really impressed with the massive sound they produced with just synths and drums. The first sample of The Scare's new album, Oozevoodoo , has been released and it's really fucking cool. As previously mentioned , the album is being produced by Daniel Johns of Silverchair and it shows. The production is very reminiscent of Nick Launay's production on the Chair's last album, Young Modern . Johns apparently wrote some songs on the album too... The Scare - No Money from Savefile
Marilyn Manson Manson has unleashed the first taste of his new album which features the return of Twiggy Ramirez for the the first time in a decade or so. Van She are from Sydney, Australia. The formed in 2005 when all four members independently responded to an advertisement seeking a vocalist for a doom metal band. Sounds like bullshit to me... either way, they kick arse. For some reason unbeknown to me, they call themselves Van She Tech when they do remixes. Take their remix of Feist's 1234 for example. Here's my remix of The BPA's Toe Jam . The BPA (Brighton Port Authority) is a Norman Cook (A.K.A. Fatboy Slim) project which features stacks o' guest appearances, this track has Talking Heads' frontman, David Byrne being all crazy and stuff and Dizzee Rascal doing his pom-rap thing. Heaps cool! Late of the Pier: These dudes look so much like cartoon characters. . Late of the Pier . Wicked name, wicked band. Their debut album, Fantasy Black Channel , is easily one of the best albums of 2008. Triple J reckon that Silverchair vocalist/guitarist Daniel Johns is currently in the studio with Aussie expats, The Scare , producing their upcoming album. The title says it all. Rob Hirst, Martin Rotsey and Jim Moginie, formally of legendary Aussie band Midnight Oil , have formed a new band with Brian Ritchie, former Violent Femmes bassist. No word on what the band is called yet or, more importantly, who will be singing. Ritchie will replace Bones Hillman job on bass so it won't be all of Midnight Oil... not that it possibly could be give the fact that their enormous, bald vocalist, Peter Garrett, is currently the Australia's federal Minister for the Environment and the Arts.
