No Kind Words - The Maccabees The Maccabees have posted a new song from their upcoming album up on their website for free download . The Maccabees told NME the rest of the album is not as dark as this track, so we should not take No Kind Words as an indication of what the new album is going to be like. The track is quite dark, it has a very serious feel to it with thick electric guitars, [...]

Well Now - Jesse Rose DJ, producer, and remixer, Jesse Rose is set to release his next album, What do you do if you don't any day now. I've had to opportunity to hear a couple of the new tracks, and I'll admit, I'm excited! Well Now is the first track getting some airplay in promotion for this release . I was listening to the radio, minding my own business when I heard this funky track. [...]

In this very emotional edition of Cover-licious, I pay tribute to those salty droplets of water that only love could have summoned. The tears of love, the only ones that really matter. Crying - Roy Orbison I had to include Roy Orbison's beautiful original of this song. His powerful voice is so full of emotion in this song that you believe that he was feeling that pain each time he sang this song. There is no other like [...]

Firstly, if you don't know what Songbird is, it is a brand new, very shiny with that new car smell, desktop mp3 player. Integrating the web into the robust player, Songbird aims to enhance and broaden the music listening experience. It's an Open Source effort, built on the Mozilla engine. Give Songbird a try ... I like it! Kalemba feat. Pongo Love - Buraka Som Sistema [...]
At Road 2 Nowhere one of my many aims is to share awesome remixes with anyone who will listen, it's a series I call Mix-tastic! On with the mixes! Animal ( The Crookers remix) - Miike Snow There is little to know out there in the intertubes on this Miike Snow entity. The Miike Snow myspace page is incredibly minimalistic, featuring only a large bunny with antlers silhouette and the myspace the music player, with several fun offerings, including this track, and the original. The [...]
I just got home, and the house is empty... I though Perfect would be here, but he's not. It's feeling a little lonely in our tiny apartment, and I'm not sure what to do with myself. I guess I'll find some music for feeling lonely to, and share it with you! Four Ton Mantis - Amon Tobin The image of the great Mantis weighing four tons created by Amon Tobin's instrumental piece, Four Ton Mantis , is that of [...]
I Got You Dancing - Lady Sovereign After a month away from home, I'm back in step with my usual routines, which includes be-bopping at my desk to Annie Mac's Mashup via the listen again feature. This week she expressed her surprise at how decent Lady Sovereign's new track is... I'll admit, it's a good one, and I'm surprised too! Lady Sovereign is offering this track as a free bonus to fans as we wait for her to put the finishing touches on the new album, Jigsaw , which [...]
I've noticed an interesting phenomenon here in Peru: Latin America has a certain selection of North American entertainment that didn't make it to the masses back home (or at least, I've never heard of them). For example, I watched the film The House of the Spirits last night, it's a star studded (Jeremy Irons, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Winona Ryder, and Antonio Banderas), fairly decent drama from 1993. The Bille August film follows the lives of a Chilean family, ending during the 1973 military coup d'état . I enjoyed the movie because of [...]
Note: I wrote this post, and the next one in Peru this past month, but was unable to post them at the time. I'm now back safe and sound in North America. Needless to say, the New Years show mentioned below has come and gone. I have been in Lima, Peru for the past 2 weeks. I've been having an amazing time! The people are amazing, and I have seen so many brilliant things. I'm sadened to admit that my trip here is already half over. But there is one thing about Peru that is driving me banana [...]
And here is the cream of 2008... in my very humble opinion. 5. Dance, Dance, Dance - Lykke Li The young and beautiful Lykke Li released her debut album Youth Novels early in 2008, which was met with great fanfare through the blogosphere, which had been primed with the early release of Dance, Dance, Dance . In the song Lykke Li claims that her dancing hips lie and she is actually terribly shy. I [...]
8. A-Punk - Vampire Weekend Vampire Weekend hit the scene hard this year. The blogosphere was all over them early this year, then the rest of the world caught on as their became Rolling Stone's newest sweethearts . Even I listed their catch tune, Campus , as one of my Top 10 Tracks ever . The blending of Western and African influences gives Vampire Weekend a unique style that is hard to ignore. Their self-titled debut [...]
11. I'm Not Going to Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You - Black Kids After the flurry of attention these 5 musicians from Florida received from their appearance at the Athens Popfest in 2007, the Black Kids released their debut album in early April 2008 with the upbeat, fun, and slightly gender bending track I'm Not Going to Teach Him How to Dance with You as the first single. The band is touring through Australia in [...]
14. Hometown Glory ( Pocketknife 's Family Faces Remix) - Adele Adele, the soulful British singer, songwriter released her first full length release, 19 , early this year, which was met with critical acclaim and strong sales. The track Hometown Glory was remixed several times; this Poketknife remix is my favourite. Pocketknife's treatment of the beautiful tune brings it a stronger beat that amplifies the rebellious British pride of [...]
17. I Woke Up Today - Port O'Brien The duo from California, Van Pierszalowski and Cambria Goodwin, are not unfamiliar with hard work! Much of the creative efforts behind the pairs two album career started while he worked as a commercial salmon fisherman off the coast of Alaska, and she worked as a Head Baker on land at Larsen Bay, Alaska. Their music reflects the both the hard work experienced by the pair up north, but also the appreciation [...]

As I've mentioned, I'm in Peru and have found little time for the Road 2 Nowhere, but I cannot miss out on my chance to speak out on the best music of 2008, as it was one hell of a year in music! Time constraints are forcing me to write this list in small chunks... Don't miss any of it by adding me to your blog reader ! 20 . Courtship Dating - Crystal Castles Crystal [...]

I am all cozied up with an eggnog latte, feeling the holiday spirit. I'm officially on vacation, and Santa Clause will be coming to town in no time... I just hope that he'll be able to find me this year... I'm heading to Lima, Peru tomorrow! I'm not worried though, he's pretty smart, and I bet he has the best GPS technology available. Hallelujah - Jeff Buckley From Jeff Buckley's critically acclaimed album Grace , found new [...]

I am ridiculously excited for the next Star Trek movie: the beginning of the Kirk/Spock relationship. The trailer is a ride! I grew up watching Star Trek, and hold the Gene Roddenberry dream close to my heart. Space in inconceivably massive. As it is put in the film Contact, if there weren't life beyond our biosphere, it would be an awful waste of space. I hope that one day my descendants will be mingling with individuals from other worlds. Space Walk - Lemon Jelly [...]

I have quite a few new readers out there now, so I thought I'd give this post a bump. I originally wrote this to introduce myself and my music tastes. As I said in my first post ever, this is an ever changing, never stable list... it's more of a snap shot. But, reviewing it now, I still love every track on this list! So here they are: My Top 10 tracks of all time: 10. Alright (Tiësto Remix) - Red Carpet (Hetrix) [...]

Boys & Girls - Blur ParkLife (1994) NME has reported that the quintessential Euro-boy, Damon Albarn , recently announced that Blur will in fact be reuniting in the studio next year. The news brings much excitement, as I have long been a fan of Blur's fun style. I've included the first Blur track that got my attention above . Boys & Girls is a ridiculously catchy track, that I'm sure stirs [...]
