New Music | Jay Z | Ratatat So many tunes. So little time. WHY do they all come along at once? Is it like the birth cycle? Artists get horny at specific points in the year and make music? That's cool. Up next: Noone Ever Really Dies. Oh yes. Also a really cheesy version of Duck Sauce if anyone's interested. Did I ruin it?
New Music | MUNK | The Twelves You may have realised by now that I could sit in a room for years on end with nothing but an iPod filled with Twelves remixes and a crate of Fosters. Care to join me? Fine. But it's BYOB.
New Music | News Of The Ruthless Free on Saturday 11th December? No you're not. You're going to News Of The Ruthless aren't you. Yes. http://www.facebook.com/event. php?eid=111335278933627
New Music | The Bloody Beetroots I'm still not over how good that Crystal Castles tune is. But moving on, some more Bloody Beetroots for you, and it's about time. On that note, can everyone pull their fingers out and make some more music please? I'm looking at you, Virgins, Alex Metric, Cut Copy, Empire Of The Sun & The Twelves, we haven't got all day. Anyway. FFA1985 won't make you laugh, but this will .
New Music | Crystal Castles What better way to celebrate Tom from worriedaboutsatan 's suggestion to remember old music than a bit of The Cure's Robert Smith teaming up with Crystal Castles. Can't say I'm all over the album, but this tune makes me want to be in a muddy field doing big box small box with some random people I don't know. Lovely stuff.
Great dreamy tune from shoegazer-noise rock band Deer Hunter's latest album, Halcyon Digest. If you like this, you should really check out everything they've ever done. Ever. Music related that is.
New Music | Clock Opera | worriedaboutsatan Not only an awesome remix but we're also lucky enough to get some insight into worriedaboutsatan's influences thanks to the boys themselves. I'll shut up now and let them do the talking: Gavin : Musically, we listen to all sorts of stuff- we don't have any particular favourite genres or anything. If it's a good song, it's a good song! I've been listening to loads of Walls and Shackleton lately though, that's some really forward thinking stuff. [...]
New Music | Gramercy Riffs Melismatic female vocals, adult pop-rock... I thought my girlfriend would definitely be into this, but she thinks it's 'squawky'. I think it's Fleetwood-Mackian brilliance from the Riffs' debut, "It's Heartbreak". "Call Me" opens with a particularly strong guitar-based namesame. Loverly. Gramercy Riffs - Call Me
New Music | Lykke Li It's about time we had an update from Sweden I'd say. And nothing like an angry Lykke Li giving us some. Something a bit different and I lllllike it.
New Music | Kings Of Leon I had a long term vendetta against Kings Of Leon after one of their breakthrough tracks back in the day was a clear rip off of Stand Against Your Love. 10 years since I've got over that and thought Only By The Night was one of the albums of 2009 (even though it didn't make our top 10 ). Come Around Sundown is a surprisingly early release, and after watching a tirade against us, the audience, at Reading Festival last year because apparently we weren't jumping around [...]
Second up in the Beck's Shape Your Music Experience - check out the first post for the deal!
Guess the track inspiring this video to win the unique artwork! Beck's continue to explore the hidden elements of music and art with Shape Your Music Experience. Inspired by his favourite download, Melvin Galapon, from the Young Creatives Network, creates a unique light installation by painting on to a glass ball as it revolves on a turntable. And if you can work out what the track he's inspired by is, you could win this one-of-a-kind piece of priceless art. Each day we will publish a clue on the Beck's Facebook page to help [...]
New Music | Boys Noize Why does everything hurt so much? Why do I have to go and do it all again tonight? Why do I do this every weekend? Looking to Boys Noize for some inspiration, and it's coming... slowly... Thankfully I'll be handing over to some guest editors shortly so stay tuned for some elegant and finely tuned prose for a change.
New Music | Miike Snow | LightsoverLA Holy crap, more Miike Snow. Sort of. Just an ambient LightsoverLA remix of Billie Holiday actually, so it's ok. A quick search for LightsoverLA also brought to me an incredibly updated version of MySpace - how did I miss this phenomenon?! Finally they get their act together and I'd thought them missing presumed dead for about 2 years?! Crazy. Never going back but still, hats off.
New Music | Virgin Red Room We'll be heading down to the launch party for Virgin's new regular event Red Room on Wednesday to check out NMB favourites New Young Pony Club . Head over to the site for a chance to win some tickets to the event at Kensington Roof Gardens. And if you do win, you can buy me a beer.
New Music | Plan B He does need to calm down a little bit, Plan B. I think he just takes himself a bit too seriously. That said, all that seriousness does add up to a tasty little number in The Recluse, and Nero takes it to the next level. If you haven't already, you need to check out his latest album , even just as a reference point. For stuff.
New Music | Miike Snow | NAPT I'm not not not not not not the biggest Miike Snow fan. I also might have have to chew through my own ears somehow if I hear another remix of Passion Pit's Sleepyhead. However something about this NAPT remix brings me to nearly doing naked laps of whatever environs I happen to be inhabiting whenever I hear it, which is quite often at the minute. Try it, you'll like it. The remix I mean, not naked laps. Naked laps are obviously awesome.
New Music | GRUM LOOKS LIKE WE'RE STILL SHOUTING. NEW TUNE BY GRUM - ok enough of that - is pretty awesome and nice and chilled for a Tuesday. And anyone with Toto in their list of influences is going to be alright by me. Anyway enough about GRUM I'm off to play some halo.
New Music | UNKLE | Fake Blood Been a while! And by GOSH do we have some tunes coming your lovely way. First up UNKLE, and thanks to FAKE BLOOD, RESTLESS just got a little more interesting. Sorry to throw you in at the deep end after a long break (got stuck in Spain, don't ask). Actually I retract that apology. Something more chilled coming soon...
