their album from last year was one of my favourites. new tracks continues on where that left off.

windmill was all over blogs in 2009 with his tracks ‘tokyo moon’ and ‘plastic pre-flight seats’ . although he has slipped outtasight for some he hasn’t stopped making great music as these tracks off his new album will attest Office Parties by Windmill Atlantic Altitude by Windmill Blankets Fold by Windmill Frosting Homes by Windmill

vacant valley have just released a compilation ‘rough end of the stick’, stacked with tracks from some of melbournes best new bands. including pop singles (who’s debut album was one of our favourites last year ), popolice, the stevens, where were you at lunch and white walls. this shit is good, get on it. POP SINGLES - 3rd person by Vacant Valley THE STEVENS - turpin falls by Vacant Valley

white walls threw out this great lp at the end of last year. they’re calling it ‘doomgaze’ on their bandcamp , though it isnt quite as dark as that might suggest. they’re probably closer to being between the shoegaze of swervedriver and the noise pop of serena-maneesh. either way its good stuff. stumbled across this ace mixtape the other day. it’s got some of the most exciting australian artists being remixed by some of the most exciting producers. how exciting! Half Of It (Mitzi Remix) by YesYou Midriffs (Oscar Key Sung Remix) by Sui Zhen Again feat. Sinden (Frames Remix) by Elizabeth Rose Ocelot (Willow Beats Remix) by Hiatus Kaiyote Bad Friends (Collarbones Remix) by Big Scary Heartbreak (feat. Chela) (Guerre Remix) by Clubfeet

Did somebody say Mozzarella? Aw yeah! Richard In Your Mind at their psychedelic, playful best. Mozzarella by Richard In Your Mind There Goes The Train by Richard In Your Mind

early woman is bjenny montero + hannah brooks + robert bravington. montero has featured on these pages a few times before, this though is definitely a band effort though as the track below demonstrates. damn catchy too. thing i love about melbourne is every time your getting a little bored and everyone seems to be aping after the same sound, a new band pops up fully formed doing something entirely different.

beautiful tune from new melbourne group Sleepy Dreamers - it has a tender vocal and builds really nicely without the percussion overpowering.

Sitting somewhere between Cat Power, Clare Bowditch and PJ Harvey. Ainslie Willis has been for quite a few years now loved by seemingly everyone I know but still not widely ‘known’ and recognised. Hopefully new tracks like Lemon Japan will start to bridge that gap. This one is from a few years ago but remains my fav track.
I stumbled across this record the other day, and was shocked how little coverage its had. She has a Norah Jones vocal and worked with some of my favourite songwriters on this album - Martin Craft (M. Craft, Sidewinder), Ed Harcourt, and Cherry Ghost’s Simon Aldred. The result is stunning and its kind of breathtaking that Kristina Train isn’t a massive star. I cant think of the last major pop release that I heard with such well crafted songs.
koreless is one of the most exciting producers at the moment. and teaming up with sampha as ‘short stories’ will only further propel him into the limelight. this remix is amazing, namely because he actually deconstructs the stems and creates something new rather than simply cutting up the vocal and laying some synths under it.
