Made In Japan have just released their latest indie pop gem, 'What it is'. Bright, dreamy and deserving of lots of airplay. Check out the other tracks below as well; their new album is out through MGM later this month. Been enjoying these beautiful lo-fi tunes from Velcro recently. Perfect accompaniment for beers in sunny backyards, if only Melbourne wasn't always raining. They have a live tape coming out on Why don't you believe me? and are playing one of the last ever shows at The East with Geoffrey O'Connor & Dick Diver on Feb 24. [MP3] Velcro – Curfew [MP3] Velcro – Dreamboat [...]

New single from Tom Williams & The Boat!! This is one of the best tracks of the year so far; his songwriting and lyrics have matured so much. Can't wait to hear their album, definitely one of most exciting English bands around. Our post about their track 'Get Older' from last year is over here . My Bones is available as a free download from their site here . [MP3] Tom Williams & and The Boat – My Bones [...]

Oscar + Martin released one of 2011's best Australian albums; now whilst Martin is doing stuff with The Harpoons (our profile) , Oscar has put out his second EP as Oscar Key Sung. As you'd expect its quirky, soulful and required listening. Tape Voice is available for download from his bandcamp . Zulu Winter have been gaining an insane amount of 'buzz' recently. Presumably because they're managed by the team behind The Vaccines and White Lies. Still, they make quirky pop rock that isn't in the same mould as every other British indie act so the hype isn't completely unfounded. zuluwinter.blogspot.com http://www.facebook.com/ZuluWi nter https://twitter.com/zuluwinter

Been loving the new EP from Göteborg's Happy Hands Club. Out through our old favourites Luxury Records they make catchy electro/indie-pop – truly its not as shit as that description suggests. http://www.myspace.com/happyha ndsclubswe http://www.facebook.com/h4ppy. h4nd5.club https://twitter.com/happyhands clb

This was my most listened to track of January. I've been a fan of Kathleen Edwards alt-country tunes for a few years, but on this new album she's softened a little thanks to production from her dude Bon Iver's Justin Vernon. Such an amazing song. http://www.facebook.com/kathle enedwardsmusic

The always great Sensory Projects are releasing No Zu's debut album LIFE in a few months, this track Fa Foma Fi is the first taste and will take you to the Caribbean and back in 7 minutes. [MP3] No Zu – Fa Foma Fi http://www.facebook.com/pages/ NO-ZU/79966659073 http://nozu.bandcamp.com/

New single from The Harpoons; so damn catchy you need your ears around this now. Their Walk Away/Keep You Around EP is out soon through the always awesome Two Bright Lakes. Walk Away by The Harpoons http://www.facebook.com/thehar poons http://harpoons.bandcamp.com/

Badlands are a new duo out of Malmö, featuring Niklas Tjäder (brother of The Radio Dept./ Korallreven's Daniel), that are making really exciting pop music. The first track to be lifted from their forthcoming Battles Within EP, 'Never Dry Out', has a swirling vocal, shuffling beats and smooth bass hook. http://www.facebook.com/Badlan dsSE https://twitter.com/#!/badland sse

If you remember the track 'By The Shore' from a few years back then you already know how amazing Emma Russack is. Her voice and forlorn stories are to good to ignore. This is the first single from 'Sounds of Our City' out through Spunk! in February. Emma Russack - 'He Was My Family' by SpunkRecords http://www.emmarussack.com

Shweeeet new single from Love Connection. I was a big fan of there first album ( Best albums of 2010 ) and posted about their Pets with Pets collab last year, but this new track is where its at. [MP3] Love Connection – Nobody Knows http://www.facebook.com/pages/ Love-Connection/12096470129599 9

A long time in the making Catcall's debut album 'The Warmest Place' is finally coming out May 4th. With the first two singles converting many an indie kid to the world of pop this release is much anticipated. Even by my father a devout Belinda Carlisle fan, promptly got out the pen & paper when 'Satellites' was played on ABC local the other week. As amazing as these pop songs are I'm sorta hoping she tours with Circle Pit, and they do Kiosk songs. Our Magic Silver white profile is here . [...]

Red Riders used to be one of my favourite bands and I was lucky enough to catch their farewell shows. So its good to see Al and Tom haven't taken long to put more music out. I downloaded their bandcamp demos back around july and have been enjoying them but was surprised to hear it in a korean takeout place last night. It seems triple j have been playing it heaps. So if you haven't heard it here is 2 minutes of garage pop for the pod. [MP3] Palms - Summer [...]

Beautiful debut single from Bree Tranter (The Middle East). Pretty sure she's now playing in Matt Corby's backing band, but imho this is miles better than his emotive faux folk.
