U2 Interview @ Charlotte Roche 1/4
An interview on German TV from 2000. Interesting conversation. Primarily about the making of All That You Can't Leave Behind. Featuring "wonderful Bone-o and wonderful Larry Mullen Jr." in parts 1 and 2 and Edge and Adam in parts 3 and 4. I like the conversation in the clip below about the interviewer Charlotte Roche's favorite song on that album, Stuck in a Moment. part 1 In the beginning of the second video clip (below) from the interview, Bone-o requests the start of a movement to change the pronunciation of [...]

MTV: U2 Fire and Desire

U2 MTv "Fire and Desire" interviews 80's part 2/2
"We intend to make records until people are entirely sick of U2," says long-time ago Bono in clip 2 below. (cough) Friday flashback : This MTV video, U2 Fire and Desire, features interview clips from throughout the 80s, but the main focus is on Rattle and Hum era. Some good sound bites. (Aired as sort of a Rattle and Hum promo originally it seems.) Part 1: Part 2:

Flashback: “Bono, Do You Shave Your Chest?”

Bono chest
This earth-shatteringly important video flashback is from 1998. The very important “chest shaving” question was posed to Bono, apparently, after the "U2 Massive Heeds" (as TFI Friday's Chris Evans called them), had appeared on one TFI Friday episode where the massive headed Bono had chest hair and then appeared on another episode where the massive headed Bono did not have chest hair. Of course, a viewer wrote in to ask about this fake massive headed Bono chest hair drama. So, real Bono answered the question. (Or did he?) Related: What the [...]

dads

dads That's the back cover of the UK version of the Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own DVD single . I was going through some of my stuff and I saw it and it was Father's Day, so I snapped a photo. That photo of the U2 dads makes me sad and happy at the same time. Relatedly unrelated: The official video for the song Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, for me, was a quintessential *almost awesome moment. (See below). It does convey genuine emotion, but I wish hoodie Bono wandering [...]

LET’S GO KNICKS. [LMJ 2009 flashback]

Remember that interview that drummer did that one time in 2009 at that game by some basketball team in some city in some arena? Oh yes, Larry Mullen Jr. interviewed at halftime of a New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden in 2009. I wonder how many Bud Lights Jr. drank before that interview. Totally related: Let's Go Knicks. xo

No Line on the Horizon was not “Finished” ?

U2 - Making of "No Line on the Horizon" (II)
A little late on the uptake on this, I know, but I just read David Fricke's excellent/interesting interview with Jimmy Iovine in the April 11, 2012 issue of Rolling Stone . It was good, and a portion was about his work with U2, but one question and response in particular made me sort of laugh. (Out loud. On a plane. Where everyone else was sleeping. But whatev.) As the head of their record company, what was your opinion of U22s last album, "No Line on the Horizon"? Jimmy Iovine: [...]
