Remember the band with the song that Natalie Portman said would change your life? After 5 years, they're finally back. And they're as good as before, if not better, with this lovely, pop-rock jam called The Simple Song. It simply is great. And it gets better with every listen (at least for me). I can totally imagine jamming to this in a big arena-like place with my cringeworthy air-guitar skills. Speaking of, the guitar riffs here are sick! Welcome back Mr Mercer and gang. Check The Simple Song out below. [...]

So because of corrupt download links, pictures, and a lot of negligence on my part, I decided to start anew in 2012 by deleting most of my original (corrupt) posts. So, this is a promise to my five fans (I know, SO popular) to post a song every day or if not, at least twice a week to bring new music into your lives. Reckon it's a much better option that constantly posting videos with the accompanying 'omg i love this song' to 500+ friends only to have the same five friends like it... [...]
The hipster within (deep deep within me) is secretly attracted to hipster guy in singlet walking with a sense of purpose, down the streets and onto the railway tracks. Romantic fantasy of course ends near the end of the video where they're ripping apart and eating something bloody. I'm just gonna pretend it's cooked pork belly cause I keep thinking of it... Anyway, the song's pretty cool as well. Good to chill to at 2.30am and maybe even at 2.30pm. Check Supreme Cuts out. They have a lot of rad (hipster within me using hipster language) [...]

It's been a VERY long while since I've filled this space. I blame the lethal combination of laziness and a journalism internship. But anyway, as I was walking home today, feeling as though my uterus was about to drop for some reason (too much info I know but I have to vent somewhere, and laziness is preventing me from doing on my 5 other social media outlets), I wanted desperately to listen to a band I haven't listened to in a while, The Chairs. I remember when I first got a hold of their [...]

I absolutely can't get enough Sun of a Gun by Danish artist, Oh Land!! The 24-year old Øland Fabricius has just recently released her self-titled EP and a very impressive video to the first single, Sun of a Gun. The dance-dream-pop track is super super infectious. I absolutely love that this song has a right balance to it. Her strong vocals perfectly complement and balances the dance elements and is not at all underwhelming. Check it out! Oh Land- Sun of a Gun [...]
I'm absolutely digging this track by Young the Giant . I remember listening to this the first time when I was still in the US and then I realised that they were heading down to San Francisco the day I was leaving!! (randomfact101). Anyway My Body is just an awesome rock track. It's one of them tracks that I would love to listen to in a arena/stadium and just sing along like I'm the biggest fan girl in the world. I'm not always a fan of the [...]

I'm really loving Sunset's Moonlight , especially tonight because it perfectly complements the cool, breezy weather tonight. Its hazy, dream-pop mellow feel and fuzzy melody is so appealing because it makes me want to lay in bed, put on my headphones, listen to this song and stare at the random glow-in-the-dark stars on my ceiling. Hopefully, I'll finish my work and this will be a reality soon (the bed seems so inviting right now)! [...]
Cee Lo Green's Fuck You is by far the catchiest song I've heard in a very very very long while. Already a viral hit with 3 million youtube views, I only heard it for the first time this afternoon and I cannot stop playing it. And when it's not playing, it's just constantly stuck in my head. Cee Lo Green 's single off his upcoming album 'The Lady Killer' is him singing to his ex-lover's new (and richer) man. It's an angry song presented in a really vibrant, motown-esque manner and you [...]
I first heard of Secret Cities when Yunxi went to watch them at the Elbo Room back in San Francisco while the rest of us were in New York. I remember she would play their music on her laptop and I imported their album Pink Graffiti into my iTunes. Gave it a couple of listens and really liked it but I kind of just cast it aside for a long while. But today, while I was on the train, an iPod malfunction meant that Secret Cities was to [...]
The new school term is starting tomorrow! I'm semi-excited cause it means I get to use my brand new notebook and the new school term always means a fresh attempt at being organised. But I'll also miss the summer holidays. I already miss my (almost 3 months) at San Francisco Bay Area. So anyway Wild Nothing 's Summer Holiday (ironically) is the tune to start off the school semester with. Wild Nothing is the lo-fi project of Jack Tatum from Virginia. Summer Holiday is such a lovely tune really. I would [...]

I have to admit that when I first heard this song, I didn't know it was in English. I had assumed like most of Sigur Ros ' songs, Jónsi's main project, it would be in icelandic or hopelandic. But after my 5th listen, I realised that there were some words that sounded familiar and got excited at the thought of the Icelandic language and English being slightly similar. Then it finally dawned on me that it was indeed English. [...]
After a 4(?)-month hiatus I'm back. After such a long break, you (whoever you are) would probably expect some changes and improvements to the site, but unfortunately, there are none. Anyway, Kisses is a super sweet, dreamy synth-pop duo comprising of boyfriend-girlfriend (aww) Jesse Kivel (who really gives off some major Jens Lekman vibes) and Zinzi Edmundson. Bermuda is such a bedroom-synth pop song and it's just absolutely perfect for the rainy, cold weather we've been experiencing lately. I'm in school now feeling cold and this song instantly made me feel less [...]

I'm not sure if it's me or the crazy (always fluctuating) weather, but I'm pretty much sitting at my table wishing it would rain so I'd stop sweating like a pig. So thought Mayer Hawthorne's I Wish it Would Rain might be pretty appropriate. And really, even if it is already raining, this would still be perfect! From the laidback, motown vibe to the bittersweet lyrics, it's the one you listen to as you're all snuggled up in bed trying to enjoy the cool weather while [...]

Honestly, the first single from Vampire Weekend's sophomore album, Contra turned out to be pretty underwhelming. But I suppose that's inevitable especially for a band who enjoyed massive success with their self-title debut album. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy the song. But really, what this song has achieved is the need for me to try and include words like Horchata , Balaclava (or the bar at Suntec ), Aranciata [...]

Ever since its release a while back, I've been listening to this album on a daily basis. Islands ' Vapours is essentially my get-ready-in-the-morning record! Gets me in the greatest possible mood with its very accessible, short pop songs with great hooks. My favourite is definitely the super sweet Tender Torture . It leaves me with that fuzzy feeling and as I listen to the lyrics, there's a permanent smile stuck on my face (even if I try to hide it because people in the bus tend to [...]
The Balconies have been occupying a fair bit of my iPod time recently and I've been absolutely lappin' it up. While The Balconies came across as a straight up power-pop trio at first, I've come to realise that they do shift within different genres. From slow jams, to dancefloor tracks to experimental-grunge-rock; and the manage to be effortless successful in shifting within the genres. The trio consists of Jacquie Neville, her brother Steve and Liam Jaeger. Their tracks boast wonderful guitar licks, powerful drumming, catchy pop hooks and just a whole lot of energy. All [...]

I seriously think public transport , especially at peak hours, brings out the worst in people. For me, those murderous instincts tend to take over. The sweaty arms brushing against mine, or people charging past me to make sure they get that empty seat they're eyeing from a distance, everyone just leaning against you, people staring at you unnecessarily- it really irks me. Also doesn't help when a couple is engaging in some PDA, releasing endorphins-being happy and what not, and I'm here barely breathing. It scares me though that I sometimes have [...]
Despite an early morning lecture and a long day ahead, this title-track from Islands' upcoming album managed to put me in such an unbelievably good mood at 730AM. Lovely 60s-pop melody perfectly complemented with a catchy bassline. But more than the bassline, it's the brass section that impresses me the most. The horns are bloody fantastic with its syncopated rhythms and all that. I'm obsessed! I'm entertained, I've got dancing feet, liking the beat, and I'm definitely not complaining. I loved the official video for the song although I did admit it kind of creeped me out at first. But like the album, Veckatimest, it grew on me. And before I knew it, I'm emulating the whole blinking-one-eye-at-a-time. FAIL.This fan made video however is different but I think it absolutely captures the mood and the feel of the song perfectly!! Love it! more about " (Fan-made) Video fro Grizzly Bear's T... I first heard of jj only last night when some random person twittered about their super wonderful track, 'masterplan' . I wish I could find that person twitter feed but damn @johncmayer and others for clogging up my feed (yet I can't bring myself to un-follow them). I then woke up this morning and happened to read i'm waking up to where they featured another jj song, the free download via [...]
