a couple months ago I threw together a mix of old, and new disco that I thought might be interesting. It's nothing that serious. It's still in need of some work, but it's getting there. Also I thought I'd throw in some tracks by sparks from their album number 1 in heaven that was produced by none other than giorgio moroder and has some of the first new wave/electro. There's also a few nu disco and electro tracks that aren't super super new but still float my boat. [...]

Continuity is not something I here that often these days. While software and programming might be making the music process easier (not that easy), it's had some unintended effects. I've been in awe of how much the landscape has changed. The hyper-fast connectivity of the internet and thirst for new music/styles really has made it quite difficult to remain relevant for very long (are artists getting a fair shot?). I've derided the mainstream and big corporate music entities as much as the next person (don't really think they're capable of being saved at this point). [...]

Alright, I thought I'd throw down some more haaarrd tracks. Not really any rhyme or to it. Lately my tastes have been jumping around. Some of them are a bit old, but still hold up well. I haven't had a chance to touch on Feadz (Ed Banger), Herve (the Count of Count & Sinden), or Le Castle Vania (another amazing Atlanta artist) yet but they all really make super energetic music. Also artists like Fukkk Offf , and Proxy (from Moscow) have dropped a couple gigantics. [...]

Yes, there is disco in Texas. As a matter of fact I think it was invented to celebrate after the victory at the alamo by brooke shields . I believe Chuck Norris made it famous on that show of his texi range . Yeah, about that, d.i.s.c.o.texas has actually very little to do with Texas and there may or may not be disco there. It's a label/collective started by moulinex (Lisbon, Portugal) xinobi (Munich, Germany), gun n rose, Bandidos, Double Damage and Cpt. Luvlace. They blend electro and disco exceedingly well [...]

treasure fingers (sorry guys, this one is a monster, but read it- i promise yall will love it!!!) is one of the cats who, as far as im concerned, is changin the game. a member of evol intent (his drum and bass/miscellaneous dj work moniker is the enemy ), and down with KTN , Computer Club & Co. his 40 minutes in the champagne room mix changed my life. I honestly can't go on enough about how utterly perfect this mix is. 40+ tracks in 40 minutes. paced perfectly. [...]

Most likely you've heard of boys noize (aka Alexander Ridha). There's been quite a buzz surrounding him. A friend of mine (John) can't get enough B.N. so I thought I'd do my part (So what if B.N's been blogged to death). His debut, Oi Oi Oi , came out in 2007 but his been putting out singles since 2004. Here's a vid for boys noize's & down . I feel like Electro, in very general terms, has gone in two directions. The first is more disco and poppy [...]

this track is older and it continues to grow on me. its an epic instrumental in the throwback synth vein. symbolone first got my attention on justice 's discarded fabric mix . symbolone is associated with valerie , go figure. i just love the pace. i can imagine a somber, emotional story behind this one. symbolone - love juice [...]

So, Brazil has produced some amazing music (Funk Carioca, Samba, etc. ). I've been interested in it for a bit. The metal scene caught my ear first. My favorite being Sepultura (The early stuff is sick, arise!). To keep it manageable we'll narrow this post to two, Mixhell and Database. So, have at it. Sepultura (which means grave in Portuguese) has been around since the mid 80's. Now fast forward to 2006 when the drummer Iggor Cavelera [...]

Best video I've seen in a long long while. The lights and the synth closeups are crazy! Oh man. I'm really looking forward to Miami Horror's ep Bravado (Nov 15th). Been really diggin this song since I first heard. It was great to see him get success with the Embrace remix. He is an amazing 22 year old DJ from Australia. Almost every track and remix of his I've heard is pretty sweet. Sure he's blown up fast , and garnered mainstream attention, but I still dig it. Judge me if you [...]

today's post is about a local cat. he is So Gold! he does hot, tight bmore refixes of already fiery dance tracks. ive only got a chance to see him live once- but it was great fun! also, he does live remixing- it always awesome to hear a track or remix you know get played and also to hear it evolve as the dj is flippin it right there! (more press: here1 , here2 ) cant wait for the next mpls show! check out his myspace for upcoming shows, and to show him some love! so [...]

Alright its been a bit since I did a thick bmore postage. So, the new Bird Peterson track is floating around, so... try it out. Plus Emynd has some great new stuff thats popped up recently. Lastly I've got some mixes by Dave Nada for mad decent radio, DJ Tameil Dj Tiga's new mixtape, and though it's not that new a great acidy club mix by flashing lights (DJ Ayres, Nick Catchdubbs, and Jubilee). All three are nice as hell. Thanks to Mad decent , DJ Ayres , and fiftyonefiftyone for posting [...]

Italo-disco is great. It full of great synths, and cheesy lyrics. It's a broad term referring to disco music made anywhere but the U.S. and Europe during the eighties. Most of what I've heard has more synths, more funk and silk smoothness. With the new disco craze it's been popping back up in various forms across the world. Check out this classic vid. I discovered a couple months ago this song [...]

I'm a product of the eighties. I remember playing the original NES system at friends houses. The 8 bit graphics were sweet (or so I thought). Does anybody remember the R.O.B. , the power pad or the power glove ? Robots were huge. It's crazy how far things have come. It's great that 8 bit sounds and art have been making their way back into the limelight . One of my favorite bands from the eighties is Newcleus . They came around during the first wave [...]

Well, I just discovered a boat load of electro tracks that I love so I thought I'd share the wealth. No real rhyme or reason to them, you'll probably recognize most of the artists from other posts. It still amazes me sometimes how much music is out there on blogs and how much of it I haven't heard. There's definitely a core group of blogs that release songs that trickle down to other blogs. As a result, many have the same songs at the same time making it kind of monotonous. It definitely makes you wonder how free blogs are [...]

This will be quick. Regardless of who you vote for, this election is important. Please go out and vote. That said, I'm not going to tell you how to vote. This is a music blog and so the focus is on the music. Music is a great medium, so it's not surprising to see election songs (can't wait until all the campaign ads are absent). Even club and electro music. Here are few election themed songs. Some have nothing to do with it. Whatevvvs Imma Vote Obama Way [...]

If a song has been remixed by a ton of people what does that mean? I've been going through my collection looking for songs that have been remixed again and again. The two songs I have seen remixed the most are cut copy's hearts on fire and digitalism's pogo (the preset's this boy's in love was pretty popular too). The originals are perfect on their own and have gained much notoriety. In my eyes both groups have really helped define, and draw me to what I see now as electro (that's pretty important I'd say). [...]

Here it tis, some music to get you in the mood. Halloween on a friday, how can it get better than that? So, to get the party started here is some great stuff from bird peterson, legowelt, evil nine, and DJ Sega. Plus some outstanding disco taste, new and old (stardust, legowelt, kap10kurt, alter ego, rob 3). Bring it. the evil stuff thriller - michael jackson (bird peterson remix extended) the [...]

Alright its almost Halloween. I love eighties horror movies. Back before cgi it all just seemed grittier. Yeah it looked fake most of the time, but it only adds to the experience for me. Vids like hellraiser (original) and They Live (roudy roddy piper!) were great. I love dressing up and getting into the spirit. I didn't used to growing up, but the creative aspect really can make it fun these days. I'm putting together my costume pretty late this year. It's just been crazy busy. Here are some bangers from [...]

My guess is that you've heard of Fred Falke. The remix of PNAU's Embrace he did with miami horror blew up this summer. He's been around for a while. He's another great French electro producer. He and Alan Braxe worked together for a long time and put out some great stuff. The demand for Falke's music has grown quite a bit. His Synths are honestly perfect. It reminds me of summer sunsets on the beach in California. He is one of my fav producers. He got his start as a bass [...]

Armani XXXchange (Alex Epton) is a producer for the group Spank Rock . He along with Chris Rockswell (Chris Devlin), Ronnie Darko (Ronald Rubarth) did some great stuff. "XXXchange studied at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, then briefly the New England Conservatory before decamping for New York and a stint drumming with the indie electronic group Zero Zero, whose 2001 album AM Gold was produced by the highly sought-after DFA camp; he also earned a production apprenticeship at DFA, assisting James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy" (billboard). Spank Rock's album YoYoYoYoYo was released in 2006 and launched their [...]
