Here is The Holiday Crowd's brand new music video for their single "Pennies Found." The video, directed by visual artist Matthew Sitler, was filmed entirely on his iPhone. Order their debut "Over the Bluffs" on limited 123 vinyl, cd or digital formats in the US on Shelflife and world-wide on New Romantic .

I can't believe it's already mid-December and already time for top 10s of 2011. This year has been a complete blur. In putting this post together, I completely forgot about so much music that came out this year. I'm sure it's no surprise that I've reformatted this list numerous times. I have left out some previous top 10 favorites (Digitalism, Washed Out, Korallreven, among others) as their records all kind of lost their spark for me. Top honors this year goes to "Weathering" by Epic45 . I absolutely adore this record! On first [...]
The debut single "Two Rings" from the Ice Choir is officially released today in the UK/EUR through Yesboyicecream and in the US through Shelflife . Here's the official video for the track directed by Ryan Louie. Order here!

Days celebrated their very first US performance this last weekend at the NYC Popfest. The show was simply incredible. As a bonus, they were invited to do a live studio session and interview for Grey Skies at WNYU. Thanks Brian for setting that up. The entire session is available for download below. Enjoy! We're now carrying two new cds from Fastcut Records Japan. The excellent new Kuryakin album "A New Day" and the Suede Crocodiles compilation "Stop The Rain" (previously available on vinyl only from Accident Records). Both are $16 each and available right now in the Shelflife shop .

I recently discovered this hidden gem of a band. They hail from Russia, you may recognize them from their main project Motorama . They are quite tricky though, they offer the album for free from their website , if you can find it of course ;) http://www.shelflife.com/mp3-b in/ytro-sad.mp3

I'm sure it's no real surprise that Caribou is getting my top spot this year. It's been on my highly recommended list ever since it came out in April. "Swim" is just brilliant and seeing them play it live twice this year just solidified my decision. I still joke with the idea that Daniel Snaith listened to a lot of Familjen records and decided to reinvent Swedish disco - but whatever really inspired him to go into this direction, I sincerely hope he continues. As for the podcast, it was again [...]
Soda Shop - Farewell from Drew Diver on Vimeo . In celebration of our first 73 single here on Shelflife, I decided to put together a simple little music video for the A-side "Farewell." This is my first ever video edit and both of us were actually happy with how it turned out. We hope you enjoy it and that it brings a little more life to our first single. Yours, Drew & Maria

Here's the official video for "Divided" from Tears Run Rings' second album "Distance". Laura Watling fans take note as she's on lead vocals on this one. You can purchase "Distance" on cd/digital right now and the LP version is coming very soon - hopefully just in time for the December holidays. And speaking of Laura, her cd compilation "Songs From Dreams" is coming along nicely. We're getting close to a release date, promise! tearsrunrings.com [...]

I figure it's time to share what has been keeping us so busy and away from updating this blog regularly over the past year. Our new Tears Run Rings album "Distance" is finally finished! It's out now in Japan on Quince Records and will be released for the rest of the world August 24th on Clairecords. A limited vinyl LP version will follow later in the year from Deep Space Recordings/Disaster Club. Here's the first single "Forgotten". Download it for free below. [...]
After London Popfest we shot a short session with a production company in Brixton called Blindeye Films . We think they did a nice job! Hope you enjoy! I Can't Decide ( The Brixton Session )

I've been super excited since I heard that Deep Space Recordings was planning to release The Fauns debut LP on vinyl. Well, today is the day! Their double LP version is now available in a lovely gatefold sleeve. I've loved this band ever since I heard their song "Lovestruck" (check out the video below), which has a very classic "Brittle Stars" type sound going on. Of course we picked up some copies for the Shelflife shop, so order one below. [...]

Fastcut Records in Japan have come to our rescue and reissued The Suede Crocodiles "Stop The Rain" 73. For those who aren't already fans of this obscure Glasgow band, you can catch up here on the NoStrings site. The original 73 was released in 1983 and to say it's rare is an understatement. The single typically sells in that $150-200 range when it does come up on eBay (I know I never could afford to thrown down for a copy) and it's evaded me in my many, [...]

I must say I'm super impressed with the Tim and Sam "Life Stream" deluxe edition. It features a wooden box (apparently handmade) that has a painted feather on it done up by the band and includes both the CD and LP versions of the album, a t-shirt, a Tim and Sam teabag, a poster, and a personal letter from the band. Makes me want to do more DIY type stuff with Shelflife. Now I just need to find a place to keep it as it doesn't fit on our record shelves. [...]
