Here's the brand new video from Champagne Riot for their song "Ingrid Bergman" (featuring Northern Portrait frontman Stefan Larsen on vocals). Enjoy! www.champagneriot.com myspace.com/champagneriot

Good news from the Norwegian label Cafe2001 [a record company] . They're offering up a free 5 track download from Remington super 60 entitled the "Winter EP." I still love their first album "Pling20013 and it's nice to see they're back doing what they do best. Listen to Remington super 60 - Sweet Winter http://www.shelflife.com/mp3-b in/sweetwinter.mp3 Download the EP

AJ who was in The Parcels recently digitized these two videos and I thought I would help spread the word. The Haikai TV show was recorded by our good friend Kenji Sekioka for Japanese TV. Shelflife had a segment as well. I need to post that at some point. Enjoy! I must admit I have a pretty decent obsession going on with the Edition 59 Creation reissues. I have most (if not all) of these tracks on cd already (not to mention all the other formats), but there's something special about seeing them as 33 cds that I can't resist. The Vollwert-Records digipak reissue of "Girl Who Runs The Beat Hotel" is absolutely gorgeous (and I don't actually own it on cd). Only 99 copies of that one. Looking forward to the Revolving Paint Dream stuff coming down the pike! [...]
Thieves Like Us debut a new song and video from their upcoming album "Again and Again". Fire wins out over my self doubt. Her blue sea was seeking me. Broken dreams were breaking me. Swam into the deep blue sea. Days were heavy with despair. Broken dreams were breaking me. Cherubs pushed for more and more. Painted hearts on my front door. Burnt my file and I was free. Swam into the deep blue sea. Never went back home again. Yesterday it fades away. Fire wins out over my self doubt. Her blue [...]

Korallreven's "Loved-Up" made my top 20 songs of 2009 and when I heard Fastcut Records in Japan were releasing a 73 of it, I thought I would offer up some copies in the Shelflife shop (while still expensive they're probably $5 or so cheaper than if you ordered direct from Japan - Japanese 73s have always been pricy... I guess they don't like to lose money on them - ha). Anyway, Korallreven is a project featuring Marcus Joons and Johan Duncansson (from the Radio Dept.) - and I think Daniel is part of [...]
Thieves Like Us "Your Heart Feels" live on the French TV show Pigalle . Also, here's a new interview with Andy on The Sound and the Fury Blog . www.thieves-like-us.com

I finally settled on my top 10 list of 2009, so I thought I'd get this podcast done today (it's been exactly a year since our last one, so the timing couldn't be any more perfect - ha). You'll notice in the end Seeland beat out Sally Shapiro. "My Guilty Pleasure" just didn't have the lasting power I thought it would, especially compared to how amazing that Cloetta Paris cd was last year. So Seeland takes the #1 spot. "Tomorrow Today" is a perfect album and one I hope [...]

Champagne Riot has been going through some exciting adventures this year reinventing themselves a few times over (from a solo project - to a duo - to a trio - and now back to a duo). The good news is that they have really settled in nicely with the latest line-up and have posted three new demo recordings on their myspace page. You can listen/download one of our favorites below called "Confessions of a Poker Pro." Enjoy! Their limited edition 1000 series release "Paris and I" is still available [...]
Here's a new video for The Consultants "Snow Fell (It's Night)". The song is off their 2005 debut on Shelflife called "Work From Home." Order a copy here! www.myspace.com/theconsultants band

I just noticed that the Shelflife blog is a year old today! Wow, time sure flies when you're not posting regularly (ha!)... Anyway, I hope everyone has enjoyed our posts over the last year. It's been so much fun sharing the music we love. So let's start "year two" with a preview of a song that Laura and I have been working on called "Let's Go". It's another exclusive track that will appear on her "Songs From Dreams" release, which is very close to being completed (another month I'd say). Laura wants you [...]

Today we're pleased to announce the official North American release of "It Hertz!," the debut album from Brighton's synthpop heroes Katsen . From the moment I heard "Chequered Flag" and "Where Nobody Can Find Us," I was instantly in love. Katsen's sound reminds me at times of a casio-driven version of Section 25's "From The Hip" or the upbeat moments of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's "Architecture & Morality" re-recorded by Altered Images. And unlike many modern synthpop groups today, they don't hide behind their electronics. They [...]

Gasp! "July - October edition"? It's been that long. Oops. I suck. I'm hoping to get with it and start posting on a regular basis again (although I say that every time). We'll see... I've been getting heaps of great new records (even on my "budget"). Here's some that I've been listening to quite a bit. Sail A Whale - Find Me A Boy 73 - Fastcut Records www.myspace.com/sailawhale I've been super curious about Sail A Whale ever since I saw one [...]

Magic Marker Records has made all of us Free Loan Investments fans incredibly happy by releasing their final EP "The Last Dance" on 73. It's pressed on lovely red vinyl and comes with a download code to get all four songs on the single ("Emanual's Song," "BBC," "Bedroom Eyes," & "Anyone Can Dance"), plus a bonus track called "14 Years" on mp3 format. Needless to say this is essential! Listen to our favorite track "Anyone Can Dance" below: http://www.shelflife.com/mp3-b in/fli_mm053.mp3 [...]
