There are so many reasons people are drawn to The Libertines, everyone has their own take on their music. I love them becasue of their uniquely melodic songs, mixed with superb lyrics and their uneveness in playing which I believes creates something extremely special. Because of this, I leap at the chance of finding any secret demos or unreleased tracks. And because they wrote so much, it seems like we will never find all of it, but here are some tracks which I have found and that I find to be the best. Who's Got The [...]

This is Philip, my friend from north Germany, and he is hear to explain about the Blood Red Shoes gig he recently went to: Living in Dresden, a pretty small city in former East Germany, I don't really get to see very many good bands. So, one day I was sleepily cruising the web, when lo and behold, Blood Red Shoes were coming to Dresden! I obviously gathered a few friends and had the tickets bought in less than an hour. Blood Red Shoes were playing Beatpol, a really awesome venue [...]

Franz Ferdinand's new album is coming out January 26, and if you can't wait (like myself), NME have a little preview , with a bit of information and youtube links to the songs. From what I have heard, it seems a lot more danceable, and as I wasn't too keen on the second album, this different Franz is more than welcome. If you want to hear the whole album, but in not such great live quality, go to JP's blog here . Thanks for the brilliant pic, Guy Eppel . [...]

Again, apologies for not posting. Again, I don't how I couldn't find a little time for the blog. Anyway here are two nice, softer songs which I have been listening to recently. Ghosts - Laura Marling I just bought the album from the mercury-nominated singer, and I am deeply impressed. She has been contributing to hosts of other bands (Noah and the Whale, Mystery Jets and The Rakes to name a few) and by herself she [...]

Emmy The Great was the backup singer for the Debut from Lightspeed Champion, so what was I waiting for? Well, it seems almost possible to find a good collection of her demos. What I have found is pretty impressive though. She has a beautiful voice, and though the instrumental sections are not very interesting, they accompany her voice well. Perhaps the best example of her work is My Party Is Better Than Yours. Reminiscent of the dark innocence of youth, the simple language is genius. Her dark recollection and spite works extremely well and is complete contrast to [...]

The initial track, Evil Disco is short and snappy and it fuses an incredibly catchy guitar riff, a delicious bass line and cocky lyrics from the singer; "When she licks her lips and raises her hips, I know we are gonna get it on". They aren't particularly deep but they fit well with the instrumental part of the song and are interesting enough to keep the attention of the listener. Groovebox uses the same formula as Evil Disco with more emphasis on the bass and dirty guitar chords instead of the single note plucking. Resurrection is a slow early Oasis [...]

Just a really, really good track. What more can I say? Jokin' Jay-Z (Remix) - Don Rimini Myspace Buy Don Rimini: Amazon Buy Jay Z: Amazon Posted in Jay Z, Remix

Yup, I like Foals a little bit more than last time. I managed to find some of their excellent singles which are not on the album and now I am hooked once again. I much prefer these singles, they are less poppy and there are a lot more things going on within the tracks. Astronauts And All - Brilliant futuristic sounding song, pounding drums, beeps and bloops and there are some cool lyrics. Yannis talks once again about escapism: "Let's trade all these types of things, for wings." Maybe their best [...]
