hey everybody! sorry for the absence of posts over the past couple of weeks but it seems as though the county of orange has a problem with my drinking habits and sent my poor ass to jail.i'm out now and have to comply with their wishes to stop drinking and smoking for 14months. hooray for sobriety! i'll hook you up with some music tomorrow, just thought i'd check in with you and give you a heads up. until tomorrow......

for this one i'd thought i'd take you back to blackalicious ' nia album. if you never heard of blackalicious you're  severely deprived of some good hip hop. the group consists of an mc: gift of gab and a dj: cheif xcel, they started to colab while attending uc davis in northern cal, released a couple of eps before debuting in 1999 with this fine peice of craftsmanship, nia. the album could be labeled conscious hip hop due to the non gangsta/positive lyrics and image of the group and falls into the same category as jurassic 5, early black [...]

oh happy day! the rock gods are smiling upon us! the time has finally come for me to rock out to new crystal antlers !!! yyyyeeeesssss! the album finds the crystal antlers where they left off  with their ep, only this time there's a little more to each song other than a balls out rock track. they experiment with some layered sounds, the organ is heard alot more than their previous work, a few more down tempo songs. johnny gets to show us a more soulful side to his voice and take it down from 11 to like 6 [...]

at first listen i passed off the yeah yeah yeahs latest album as a journey to somewhere i didn't want to go but after a few listens (and coping with the fact that its not the wild & woolly album i was waiting for) the songs have grown on me. yeah its electro, yeah its milder than taco bell sauce, yeahs there's a lacking presence of rock guitars and drum kits, but its still catchy with the hooks and vocals and its still karen o. will it make the top of '09 list? we'll have to wait and [...]

photo from shannon corr if you've been looking for some music that will melt your face off then i got what you been looking for with triclops! . this band hails from the sf/bay area and is comprised of members of the bands the fleshies, lower forty-eight, bottles and skulls, and victims familys, all well known in the sf rock scene. the band came together in 2006 with johnny(vocals) and christian(guitars) finding the perfect players (larry on bass and phil on drums) to complete their weapon of mass destruction, they have since put out 3 [...]

so i was listening to david bowie today and was wondering which is the better album, the rise and fall of ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars or aladdin sane?  both have some timeless bowie tunes on them. while ziggy stardust might be more well known, aladdin sane reached higher on the charts. here's a little wiki info on both of the albums along with some samples: the rise and fall of ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars 1972 [...]

no reunions here but....... remember how good this band was? i got their first ep today and it's fuckin great. i played out "youre a woman..." so much the cd is now a coaster (actually packed in storage with all my other shit) but the "heads up" ep is great. i like the electro bits added in and sampling is a nice touch. another band who i wish i could have seen live. i had the chance but didnt go due to lack of funds.....but god damn it! if you dont have this ep buy it. google that [...]

this video isn't the best quality but its a first look at the murder city devils  2009 reunion making its way down the west coast. tickets are sold out for the l.a. shows at the glasshouse and henry fonda, but if you're creative i'm sure you can rustle up some tickets. i'll post better quality video when it becomes available but for now thanks to this guy for the vids.
