I think this is a first. Two covers by one band, not remixes. Way to go guys! Another plus is that they only record Christmas music. The first is a fun acoustic cover full of hijinx. It would seem that just a hint of the magic led them to do a more proper cover soon after that, thus version two, which is a little more difficult to classify. So we're past the 200 mark. That should count for something, right? Looking back to when we crossed the 100 track mark , we were right around 7 hours of music. Now, at 200 tracks, we're at about 14 hours. What does it all mean?? Here's something nice: Whitney from USA Today's Pop Candy featured us again this year! And she even supported our long-time dream about a Shatner/Aguilera "Last Christmas" duet! (I know that sounds silly on paper, but seriously can you imagine how awesome that pairing would be?) [...]

This is electronic, a bit chiptune-ish even. It's not fast like many of the electronic versions we've posted; it's slow, steady, confident. It sort of reminds me of that Knife song, Heartbeats. Strap in, here we go: We received this version the day after we ended our postings last year, so we didn't get to add it to the count until now. It was brand new when it was sent to us, so it's had a year to mature and here's what we think...it's great! You could probably call this pop and dance, though those terms aren't mutually exclusive. Well, well, well. I'll bet you thought 192 was the best we could do. You thought to yourself, "These guys are freakin' awesome, but I doubt there's enough steam in the 'ole Wham-wagon to go one more round." Well, you're partially right - we are awesome. And to be honest, we were pretty Whammed-out after last year. But not enough to falter in our duties to you, our dearest readers. Like the US Postal Service, our holiday promise of a month full of "Last Christmas" still stands.

Well, I must admit, I'm impressed. We haven't updated since the day after Christmas and we're still getting visits, comments, and even a couple new versions of "Last Christmas" in the ole email inbox (thanks also goes out to those who, in the spirit of giving, gave our inbox buttloads of spam).

So, there you have it. 192 versions of "Last Christmas." But what have we learned from all this? Well, we've learned that people really want to dance to "Last Christmas," and that the song can be sorta fun. We've learned that people around the world love this song, particularly people in Germany. But what is the appeal of romantic rejection at Christmastime? What about the heartbreak and forlorn love discussed in the lyrics? The speaker reminds us frequently that he was denied by his would-be-lover on the day after Christmas. The repetition [...]
