Brilliant track, phenomenal interpretation. Lifelike spins an intricate web of echoes around this track giving it an ethereal quality to compliment the synth strings carrying the melody as lead singer James Rushent's vocals add a driving force which propels the track nicely. The Drums sound like Robert Smith's (the Cure) younger brother singing with the bassist from Vampire Weekend channeling the Beach Boys with an indie filter live on Venice Beach. And that, my friends, is a recipe for indie-surf pop confections glistening like wet rocks under the sun! Do yourself a favor and check their Myspace page or their official band website page. Yesterday I turned on my CD turntables to do some mixing (which I hadn't done in far too long) and was pleasantly surprised by a song that had fallen off my radar. It took me a second to identify the track through the bass thumping, and it turned out to be Santi's "L.E.S. Artistes" remixed by Left/Right . Dope intro! This song has really great playability and flexibility in regards to messing around on the DJ decks... Crank da bass! Santigold - L.E.S. Artistes (Left/Right Remix)

I honestly don't know what to say or how to feel about this song. The intro and climax are phenomenal. The melody is nearly coma-inducing in its euphoric jaunt, but then it all goes... BLAH! The melody is so fierce and then Ingrosso just lets it die after the climax. It's like two completely separate songs mashed into one, and it simply does not make sense to me. Why would he build up such an engrossing and beautiful track to just let it saunter off almost as if it was meaningless? Don't get me wrong the beat it transitions to [...]
I think I can safely speak for the majority of the indie crowd when I say that Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" has been spun enough times to span a lifetime and that it's essentially become a completely clichéd "emotional" indie pop confection (well, not so indie anymore, but hey we had it first). In fact, it's almost to the point where the song has been stripped of all of its endearing poignancy and significance... but the vocoder-ladden track has been getting a resurgence, at least for me, via several cleverly done remixes. [...]
Check out Matthew Dear on Myspace or MatthewDear.com I'm feeling both inept and unwilling to categorize or apply words to this song. Just listen to it. It might change your life. Matthew Dear - Deserter

This song delves to the depths of ethereal expanses. Channeling all the positive vibes that emanate from the core of your being into a sonically bombastic wall of sound. It defies space, time, and gravity in its epic journey towards the center of consciousness. Unity. Under the big bright yellow sun... Fatboy Slim - Song For Shelter
Rafael Lenz killed this remix! I know there about a million and one remixes of Phoenix's "19013, but Rafael is steering ahead of the pack with this disco edit. I don't know how no one else has picked up on this one by now - it's gold! It's driven by nice crisp percussion and a thick bass line and layered with dreamy synths here and there. Jammin'. Check out Rafael on Myspace Download + Listen: Phoenix - 1901 (Rafael Lenz Remix)
Yesterday I was listening to some classic Death Cab For Cutie via iTunes shuffle, and the thought crossed my mind - I don't think I have ever heard a Death Cab remix - so I went on a hunt for some remixes. After quite a few searches I had only turned up with two quality remixes: "Marching Bands of Manhattan" and "Brothers On A Hotel Bed". Both of which were pleasantly surprising... Marching Bands gets a club treatment from dance artist Blake Jarrell whose remixes and bootlegs are fairly tough to come by according to several [...]

Drum n Bass at it's finest - Sigma's "All Blue". Classic D & B percussion line with a great vocal hook and backing melody. Can't get this one off repeat... Sigma Myspace Sigma - All Blue
Gregor Tresher's "A Thousand Nights" electro-house track, with a minimal-tech influence creeping throughout, has been one of my most played dance tracks since I came upon it last year around this time. It was Spring and I was still in college. I was on my way back to college from Chicago with my friend Zoe and she had had a Ministry of Sound CD. I popped it the deck and sifted through the songs until I came to Tresher's song, and it was love upon first listen. I managed to make a colossal mistake though... I only superficially listened to [...]

You cannot possibly listen to this song without maxing out the volume on your speakers, and lets hope they're not tinny-sounding Macbook speakers... Lets hope that you're either flying down the freeway with friends or tearing up the dancefloor. Rave on and prosper. Stars On 33 - I Feel Music In Your Heart (Kris Menace & Lifelike Extended Remix)

Swedish electro-pop darlings Lo-Fi-Fnk (pronounced Lo Fi Funk - Myspace ) surely know how to craft a synth and effect-ladden song. I feel like I'm in a stop motion music video every time I listen to them... and that's a very good thing. They're currently rounding out a set of international dates (damn, just missed seeing them in LA). The massive sound coming from Lo-Fi is actually the product of just two people - Leo "Olja" Drougge and August "Benni" Hellsing - and they are currently releasing on Moshi Moshi and La Vida Locash. Check their official [...]

Ahh, here's a little ditty that I've been jamming to for the past few days. It's by a group call Solus ( Myspace ) and it is so funked out - you can lose yourself in this mystical psychedelic goodness! Check out and purchase their other work here . Solus - Now You're Here

I am really loving Dan Deacon's latest effort Bromst . It truly is a piece of exquisite electronica - an ethereal journey through various soundscapes and moods. This record carries a an accessible sound and illustrates Deacon's art quite well. Buy @ Amazon Buy @ iTunes Dan's Myspace Dan Deacon - Of the Mountains
The Toy Library ( Myspace ) caught my ear as I was perusing through various ambient/experimental/soundscap e/electronica related Myspace pages (I could literally spend hours just bouncing from page to page - there's so much phenomenal music out there!). There's a very comforting lull in the music he (Rob Glover who is part of Epic45 , an equally impressive group) creates. Dreamily lush sounds slowly combine and culminate to invoke a sense of hynosis in the listener. The Toy Library - Cat Green Bike vs The Toy Library [...]
A.C. Newman does a wonderful rendition of A-Ha's "Take On Me". The track swirls, spins, and twirls about in a transcendental fashion - swimming in it's own delicately crafted and truly majestic aura. Myspace & Official AC Newman Site AC Newman - Take On Me (A-Ha Cover)

The iTunes Genius feature is actually really great for making playlists - even with some obscure tracks such as little known remixes or rarities; however, it still has quite a ways to go in regards to its catalog of known or recognized artists/songs. I've decided to post a bunch of tracks that iTunes compiled after I turned the Genius feature on... it's great for finding stuff you haven't heard (depending on the size of your library) or haven't listened to in a while. It's also key for just throwing on some music for a short period [...]

I've been looking for Spring, which is hopefully just around the corner... it's been fairly nice/warm lately, but I don't know if it will last. Here are some great indie remixes, a Daft Punk acoustic cover, and an original. All very highly recommended. Music in line with Spring I think...
