Upgrades and Bug Fixes to Jetcomx

Upgrades and Bug Fixes to Jetcomx I just wanted to make it known that numerous bug fixes and subtle changes have been made to Jetcomx. Hopefully things should be running much more smoothly and efficiently around here, especially with the upgrade to the latest Wordpress version. But, some of these new changes that have been implemented may have caused a few new problems to spring up. If you think you've found a bug/error/problem somethere on the site, don't hesitate to let us know. That's all for now.

Throwback Thursdays: The Perfect Sh*t Storm

Throwback Thursdays: The Perfect Sh*t Storm Insert feces where appropriate. A lifetime of media consumption rarely makes up for the years wasted in front of a screen—for every episode of Freaks and Geeks, we had to sit through Punky Brewster , and for every John Ritter there's a Dane Cook waiting to riff on the profundity of hamburgers and bees. But sometimes the karmic slot machine flashes cherries and rewards us with a perfect shit storm. By "perfect shit storm" I mean a perfect storm of shit, filling our eyes and ears, courtesy of any given celebrity [...]

Joshua Allen Harris and his Amazing Inflatable Garbage Bag Street Art

Joshua Allen Harris and his Amazing Inflatable Garbage Bag Street Art Who ever would have thought that a combination of garbage bags, subway grates, and tape would be capable of creating some of the coolest street art that we've ever seen? The installations of Joshua Allen Harris, a New York City based artist, have made waves within the street art community. Using the aforementioned items and a dash of creativity, Harris amazes New York City pedestrians with his inflatable garbage bag sculptures. When securely fastened to a subway grate, the bags (which look like trash) fill with air from the passing train below and take their shape. A few of his [...]

Commando vs. Rambo: A Political Ad Primer

Commando vs. Rambo: A Political Ad Primer Schwarzenegger scoping out the 2008 DNC In Mark L. Lester's 1985 action film Commando , Arnold Schwarzenegger as Colonel John Matrix kills eighty-one people in ninety minutes. Eighty-one bad guys, most of them thin-mustached South American mercs hired by a deposed dictator. Eighty-one bad guys, a few of them former U.S. special ops badasses. Eighty-one bad guys, killed by machete, M16A1 machine gun, circular saw blade, grenade, Desert Eagle pistol, claymore mine, knife, steam pipe, and splintered chair leg. I miss those analogue action movies of the 80's, the ones where [...]

JackThreads: Get Your Daily Street Fashion Fix

Think of a few street fashion places that you know of. What comes to mind? Maybe stores like Urban Outfitters and American Apparel. Maybe you're familiar with Boston own KarmaLoop. You might even know of places like DigitalGravel, JohnnyCupcakes, and 410BC. Alright, imagine a world in which these stores only sold one kickass item each day, instead of an overwhelming heap of mediocre stuff. Now imagine that the one kickass item was 50% off or more, every day. This is the concept behind JackThreads , a relatively new online street fashion boutique based out of Ohio. [...]

A Few Awesome MRI Lightpainting Pictures

A Few Awesome MRI Lightpainting Pictures I've always been amazed by light graffiti and lightpainting. Jetcomx did a feature on both light graffiti and laser graffiti in the past. Take a look if you haven't seen them. Anyway, I think its time to showcase some fresh new light graffiti from a group known as M::R::I . They utilize long exposure times and wide-angle lenses to create the majority of their works. The vibrancy and creativity of the pictures is what really draws me in. Thoughts? MRI creates the Virgin Mary using [...]
