In our second installment of Remix Fridays, we've got some old stuff and some new stuff. From Biggie and Tupac, to Vampire Weekend and Imogen Heap, everything is pretty tight. I've had all of these remixes in constant rotation over the last 7 days or so. Check 'em out:

Mos Def and The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach Ohio blues-rock duo The Black Keys are currently hard at work on a hip-hop/rock side project known as Blakroc. The idea for the hybrid project actually came about after rapper Jim Jones and Roc-A-Fella records co-founder Dame Dash approached them. Featured on the upcoming album are some of the biggest names in hip-hop, including Mos Def, Wu-Tang's RZA & Raekwon, Q-Tip, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, and more. They've been producing a series of weekly webisodes that have been generating a ton of hype. Take a look at [...]

Devendra Banhart and Animal Collective It's been a good past two weeks for Phoenix. First they performed on The Tonight Show , then they were featured in a Cadillac commercial , and finally they were remixed by Friendly Fires . Now, two new Phoenix remixes have surfaced. The first is by Neighbours and avant-folk singer/songwriter Devendra Banhart, while the second is by none other than Animal Collective . The combination of Neighbours and Devendra Banhart put a unique spin on their edit of "Rome," and manage to turn it into [...]

Of all the music that we showcase here on Jetcomx, I would have to say that emo is probably one of the least represented genres. Why is that? Maybe because emo was so 2002? Well, not really — in fact, it's alive and well. Earlier this year, Sunny Day Real Estate, one of most influential bands of the emo genre, got back together after being on hiatus since 2001. Emo fans everywhere have since rejoiced and dug up and dusted off their old copies of How It Feels to Be Something On and [...]

So I just came across the soundtrack for the upcoming Spike Jonze flick Where the Wild Things Are . Jonze selected Yeah Yeah Yeah's frontwoman Karen O. to help make the soundtrack as reminiscent of childhood as possible. I find this notion a little strange, since the Yeah Yeah Yeah's are more known for being in your face, off the wall, and quirky. They aren't known for their huge child fanbase. From their Imeem Profile: Inside Karen O is a Wild Thing – as singer for the Grammy-nominated Yeah [...]

This week in Mixtape Mondays, we have Church League Champions from Pac Div (aka Pacific Division). If you're not familiar, Pac Div is a three-man rap group out of Southern California. They're somewhat new to the rap scene, having released their first mixtape Sealed for Freshness back in 2006. The success of Sealed for Freshness caused major players in the hip-hop world to take notice, including Pharrell, The Roots, and Snoop Dogg. Consequently, they amassed a large internet following. Church League Champions is brings a uniquely 90's rap sound to [...]

Atlas Sound aka Deerhunter's Bradford Cox Keeping it short and sweet here. I just really like this track off of Atlas Sound's Logos released earlier this month. Atlas Sound is the name of Deerhunter frontman Bradford Cox's solo project. Spin magazine described 'Walkabout' as the following: Bradford Cox's blissed-out fantasy of an Animal Collective song playing on a merry-go-round at Panama City Bead in 1966 Pretty accurate, I'd say. It goes really well with rainy Sundays and the-end-of-fall [...]

I come to praise Patrick Swayze, not bury him. He was our B-level action star with romantic credibility, and we forgave him for Dirty Dancing and Ghost because he gave us Roadhouse and Red Dawn . The martial arts crossover was inevitable-execs don't see any difference between ballet and kung fu — and the expressionless acting worked for each Swayzean archetype: the greaser bad boy, the misunderstood rebel with a heart of gold, the mourning husband, the stoic bouncer, and the post-apocalyptic warrior. Did I say post-apocalyptic ? [...]

Just came across these new Banksy pieces. For those of you who are Banksy fans (which is probably everyone), you won't be disappointed. His stuff is still as poignant and insightful as ever. My favorite has to be the fox eating the Colonel's head — talk about irony. [Via Wooster Collective ]

Remix Fridays is a little segment that we're going to be posting each and every Friday here on Jetcomx. I've been wanting to do this for a while now, since I always come across so many good remixes that need to be listened to. These are posted on Fridays because, well, that's the start of the weekend which usually has parties, and that's prime time for blasting killer remixes. In the inaugural Remix Friday, we have some some classics that have been remixed. These include some Biggie, Tupac, Rick Ross, Michael Jackson, Passion Pit, Jack Peñate, Kanye West, [...]

Okay, so maybe this isn't exactly a music video per se — it's more like a montage of some exotic vacation that just so happens to be synced up to Washed Out 's sleeper hit jam "Feel It All Around." The high-def video was created by filmmaker Chase Heavener , who just so happens to own an amazing camera (Seriously, the video looks amazing). The euphoric, chill song and happy, leisurely vacation footage go extremely nicely together. Washed Out's latest album Life of Leisure sounds like it could have been put together by a [...]

What to you get when you take Conor Oberst, M. Ward, Jim James and Mike Mogis? Oh for Christ's sake, you must be living under a rock if you didn't know that the answer is Monsters of Folk ! How to describe this collaboration... Monsters of Folk is a glorified sort of hillbilly rock that leaves room for a little class and a lot bite (I mean, they are monsters after all). Since Tuesday, the debut of their self-titled album, I've been listening to this collection of 15 tracks on repeat to get [...]

I t beats me how it happened, but America has developed this ridiculous propensity for blood-sucking entertainment. Without decent explanation, I can't bring myself to see the Twilight movie nor do I want to read the books. But the soundtrack for New Moon (the next movie of the Twilight trilogy) has just been finalized, and the track list has really got my interest. It features brand new singles from big names like Lykke Li and one-of-a kind duets from not only Bon Iver and St. Vincent but also a [what [...]

It's been quite a while since there's been some art featured on here, so I figured it's time for a change. I just stumbled across a couple of sketches by David Choe , a pretty accomplished artist/muralist who has done pieces for retailers like UPPERPLAYGROUND and brands like RVCA . Oh, and he was also the guy that was hired by Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg to paint the walls of their Palo Alto headquarters . Pretty awesome. These particular mesmerizing sketches were inspired by three different women on the New York subway. [...]

Mixtape Mondays are back! My name is Greg from GregsHipHop.com and I'll be runnin' this wonderful corner of Jetcomx from now on. If you ever wanna get at me I'm Greg@jetcomx.com. I'll be back here every Monday so enjoy. Diary of an ATL Brave is the first mixtape project by Atlanta native Donnis and dropped back on August 20. I didn't get the chance to give a listen until almost a week later on a plane back to the east coast and I gotta say I listened to it three times through on [...]

Last night at the grand opening of RVSP Gallery in Chicago, a star-studded line-up of artists performed including Really Doe, GLC, Mr. Hudson, Consequence, Big Sean, Common and Kid Cudi. Cudi's set was pretty epic, and it included familiar songs such as Jay-Z's single "Already Home," "Down & Out," "Pursuit of Happiness," A Tribe Called Quest's "Buggin' Out," "Day 'N Night," and "Make Her Say." If the free show with Cudi wasn't enough, surprise appearances by both Consequence and Common nearly blew the roof off of the place. Check it out.

Swedish indie-pop group Miike Snow (no, that's not a typo) just released the music video for their hit single "Black and Blue." Miike Snow's sound has been described by professional music critics as "A-ha meets Animal Collective." I personally like to think that their sound is more of an offshoot of Passion Pit's. The band's lead singer/songwriter Andrew Wyatt even sounds a bit like Passion Pit's Michael Angelakos. The guys released their self-titled debut album back in May of 2009, and on it was "Black and Blue" and " Animal ," a song that went on [...]

Last night Jay-Z performed "Empire State of Mind," a track off of The Blueprint 3 , on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross . He put on a killer performance with Bridget Kelly , who took over Alicia Keys' role in the song. To be honest, Bridget Kelly's voice sounds nearly identical with Alicia's, so it's really tough to discern the two. When I saw this for the first time, I was fooled into thinking that it was Alicia Keys herself. Anyway, watch the video. [See post [...]

For everyone out there who's going to be in the Philly area this weekend, go and check out the Kia Soul Collective . It's a free three-day music festival that will feature a number of great acts, including Popo , Amanda Blank , The Drums , Francis and the Lights , and MGMT . When was the last time you went to a free music festival that actually had a decent lineup? There will also be a number of DJs there including Paul Devro, Sammy Slice, DJ Sega, Nick The V, Dirty [...]

Just stumbled across this creative piece not too long ago. Conceptual artist Brian Rushton Phillips has made public a sequel to his recent series "The Conceptual Representation of Extortion in the Mind of Someone Canadian" which is a comment upon Canada's federal and Ontario provincial governments' US$9.5 billion bailout package for General Motors Corp. Entitled "The Conceptual Representation of Extortion in the Mind of One of 16,865,766 Canadians", Brian Rushton Phillips' project juxtaposes 96 of his personal checks with the GM brand and Rich Uncle Pennybags, a familiar metaphor for capitalist failure. Like Phillips' previous [...]
