Cool new feature for you

Thanks to Aquarium Drunkard I've found out about a marvelous little script that will allow YOU to listen to the MP3 links I post just by click on the little blue play button next to the link. Check it out, it works marvelously. You can still download the MP3 by right-clicking and selecting "Save Target As" in Internet Explorer or "Save Link As" in Firefox. Opera users should be able to figure out how to download a file. Tech snobs.... The script is PlayTagger , by del.icio.us . [...]

I am a product of the Google Generation…..

Damnit, I'm already not happy with Google Music's performance. When you search for albums or song titles there are no results, and reasonably well known bands sometimes fail to return any results, such as Death From Above 1979. Now I'm going to have to actually go to a website and get information. My god has Google really spoiled me this badly? I'm complaining about having to click an extra three links to get album art.... I am a product of the Google Generation.....

Google Music?

This may not be a new feature, but I submitted a tip to BetaNews.com anyways. I went to google an artist this morning and when the search results returned they had a Google Music return which had database information on the artist and all of their releases. The first search returned it for the artist Feist, and I checked String Cheese Incident and Umphrey's McGee, too (two searchs that I do a few times a week) and they both have a new result for Musical Artists. This is a pretty badass feature, since I will never have [...]

NonMusic Recommendation

If you happen to like photography, art, or computer backgrounds, you can get completely Free-Access, Royalty Free, Stock photography from www.sxc.hu. I used a photo of an oak tree from this site in the production of the BurningOak.com logo in the upper left hand corner of the site. The photo is here and at the bottom of this post, and many thanks to Pacco and check out his other photos for a cool shot of Cherry Blossoms and an Ice Block. Most images are 4megapixel quality minimum, and work great for computer backgrounds. [...]

Keller Williams’ Grass

As posted on Keller's site and reported by JamBands.com and LiveMusicBlog.com , Keller Williams' new release Grass will be released January 2nd on CD. However!!! It's available for download now from DiscLogic , and you can check out 30-second samples of each track. The album is actually being released as Keller and The Keels, Grass . The album features some great cover's, including Beck's "Loser", Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall", The Grateful Dead's "Dupree's Diamond Blues" ( Lyrics and song history ), Tom Petty's "Mary [...]

A sampling of my iTunes library….

I sat down to the computer today and got into a music discussion with my friend tom, at which point he asked me to recommend some music. Tom has very good taste in music, but not necessarily a huge background. I was in an excessive mood, and these are just a taste of what came out (sorry about formatting, but that's 4 pages of AIMtype, I'm not in the mood to edit that): zlot: what are some of your other favorite albums? BurningOak: oh tom BurningOak: you've opened a can of worms [...]

50 Cent Gets a Little Funky

Some jerk went and mashed up Queen's Greatest Hits and 50 Cent's most popular songs..... and it sounds kind of good in a wierd way. It's not the cleanest sounding mashup I've ever heard, but it definitely is good enough to have appeal. It's worth checking out, regardless, just to see the album images get mashed up. http://members.home.nl/visionx /

Site Coming Together…

Alright, well the site is finally starting to come together. I finally have a working "What-My-iTunes-Is-Currently-P laying" feature, which was nearly impossible to get working. Also the subtitle underneath "burningoak.com" is currently displaying random lyrics from a file of mine. They're all currently Grateful Dead lyrics, seeing as those are the best lyrics, period. Some more Wilco, Dead, and Ryan Adams will probably make it into the mix, too. I'm trying to get the calendar up and running for concert schedules, but I'm having server problems with it and yadda yadda, it's coming one way or [...]

I can hardly type this… Q#$%!@#$^@#%^#

I love seeing these people hurt themselves. Let's all give a round of applause and watch as the Music Industry gives two helping hands to themselves as they dig themselves deeper and deeper into their grave. The {words can't explain how dumb these people must be} buffoons at The Music Publisher's Association have decided to pursue legal action up to and including jailtime against websites featuring lyrics and guitar tablature. As if these people didn't have enough to worry about figuring out a way to sell something that people won't buy any more, they continue to bite [...]

Wanna get creeped out and want to dance at the same time?

For those of you who have listened to your Spoon album so much this year that it's hit 53 plays on iTunes, check out this Just-As-Badass-Yet-More-Mellow track from Greenskeepers . Apparently the tracks been around for a long time, but I just heard it on 107.1 for the first time so screw all y'all. Also it was on Grey's Anatomy recently, too, at the end of November 2005. For those of you who haven't heard it check it out here: Greenskeepers - Lotion If you've seen [...]

Two Phish Shows For The Ages

I spent the evening downloading two infamous Phish shows from 1994. I have some links to the torrents for those of you who want to download them. Both are darn good quality and classic shows. The first show is June 26, 1994, commonly referred to as GameHoist, since the entire first set was a full Gamehenge followed by the second set, which was a full runthrough of the album, Hoist, minus Riker's Mailbox. The entire first set is really a little audio journey, and it's definitely not your average Phish show. [...]

Finals Week Concerts in Chambana

Alrighty here, we've got two or three highlights that I'll be attending for sure. 12/15 - The Infinity Room , The Modey Lemon , The Apes , Fireflies - Canopy Club Basically, we've got four solid, relatively unknown rock acts coming to Canopy for an even more solid $5. I've heard of The Apes awhile back, and I think these bands have visited before, but I have yet to make it to one of their shows, so I'll be in attendance Thursday night hopefully. [...]

Chronicles of Narnia Thoughts

So I went to see The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe tonight. It was good, definitely a good adaptation of what I remember from the book. If you'd like a good interpretation of the Seven books in the series being representative of the Seven deadly sins, read " Narnia and the Seven Deadly Sins ." Also here's a link the the 9-minute "supertrailer" for the movie, however apparently it has a few spoiler scenes. In my opinion the Christian imagery was one mark short of overbearing, but I was [...]
