Summer Camp is in the process of returning to Chillicothe , IL, after a rather hasty goodbye. Google releases Google Music Trends , a feature that uses their Google Talk software to track users' music listening habits similar to Last.FM and combines it with a trends-like approach. Nothing spectacular, but amusing, I'm sure I'll try it out once I've got my computer up and running again. New Monsoon will be hitting the Canopy Club in Urbana, IL, on October 11th. Other upcoming shows include The Lovehammers, Treologic, [...]
I've been moving and getting set up at my new place recently, regular posting should begin soon when I get the internet back. Until then, keep checking out the sites linked on the right side of the site, they'll have good stuff for you.

It's about time I took a second to share some of 10KLF's music with you rather than just babbling about it and telling you where to get it. I decided - like Summer Camp - to start off with some Family Groove Company, seein' as they're one of my favorites and all. Sadly John and I walked in during the closing notes of "New Speedway Boogie" at 10,000 Lakes on Thursday, which happens to be one of my favorite Family Groove Co. live tunes, and one of the very few Grateful Dead covers that I consider better than [...]
Just a note to the artists/labels/whoever that may have me on their mailing lists, my physical mailing address has changed. Head to Contact Information for more.
A little something here by Vince Herman, The man behind the magic of Leftover Salmon and Great American Taxi. Here's him with some other guys discussing improvisation and The Everyone Orchestra and some other crazy stuff. From the 10KLF Mailing List: Relix's Cold Turkey podcast came to 10KLF and captured this 10,000 Lakes Festival improvisational song created on the spot by Vince Herman during a backstage interview/song session. Download it now and some of Cold Turkey's other 10KLF podcast features including interviews and songs with members of SCI, Railroad Earth, [...]
Burning Oak has been spotted at the movies theatres. I got an email today from Rich at Cable and Tweed , check it out: Hey Kane, Caught Clerks II today, and saw your name during the closing credits! I was shocked to see somebody I recognized up there. Nifty. - Rich You can catch "Kane from BurningOak.com" in the credits of Clerks II as a result of the Clerks II MySpace Contest . [...]
Arrrfhhhhghghh... What's the deal 10K tapers? It's like four days later and I see 5 shows uploaded. It's not the irregular speed that's bothering me, it's the possibility that they just might not be uploaded at all. And that would be horrendous. Anyways, check out the 10,000 Lakes 2006 download page for links to SCI, Mike & The Duo, Keller Williams Incident, Cornmeal, and Umphrey's McGee. UPDATE 4:30PM Wed : Raq's late night is now available. UPDATE 11:42PM Wed : G.R.A.B. [...]

Like I said, Pepper has released a track from their upcoming album, No Shame . The song is titled "No Control," and you can check it out on the band's MySpace page . It's got the distinct Pepper sound, but definitely has some new feeling in it. No Shame will be the band's first studio release since Spring 2004's In With The Old .
My review of the second day of 10,000 Lakes Festival is now up and available for your reading pleasure. Check it out here .

Just a quick add-on to yesterday's post about Pepper, I got another email featuring the album artwork for No Shame , which is set to be released on October 3rd on Atlantic Records. The artwork is a slight departure from the band's first three studio releases and DVD, all of which feature a similar theme. It does, however, feature the skulls logo tatooed on the hip of the woman on the cover. That logo has shown up previously on the In With The Old cover, though you have to look realllly close in the palm trees. [...]
There's a great article about formerly-local favorite Alan Vasquez on JamBase.com. Make sure you check Alan out if you're in the Colorado area anytime soon. Bob Dylan's Modern Times , coming August 29th. Read up on JamBase. Facebook is giving away 10 million 25-track samplers on iTunes during the next 10 weeks. Not much info on how to cash in, so keep an eye out.

I just recieved this mailing list update about 2 minutes ago from Vegoose. Turns out the initial artist announcements will be made on August 2nd. This seems late, last year most were announced during June/July it seems. Speculation abounds, but so far only Galactic is confirmed for the festival. I'm guessing to see the likes of Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, The Mars Volta, STS9, Gnarls Barkley, Steel Train, Matisyahu, and moe., but these are all guesses based on some suspicions of mine. They're also running a big contest for free tickets [...]

The Rolling Stones announce another leg of their A Bigger Bang tour . "Tour promoter Michael Cohl says ticket prices will be about 10-15% less on the upcoming leg, with an additional $20 discount for students. As-yet-unannounced "young, contemporary opening acts" are promised, according to the band." I think I might be checking out the Soldier Field show this October 11th, this actually sounds like a decent deal for once. Pepper has a new release titled No Shame [...]
1300 miles, 5 days, and 4 tanks of gas later, we're back. The sun was in full force this weekend, the glowsticks were flying, and the crowd vibes were the best of any festival I've seen yet. The entire weekend culminated into a full 4 hour G.R.A.B. set as many expected, including a nearly 30 minute fireworks display while the band jammed out to The Who's "Who Are You?" and an encore of The Beatles' "Get Back." There's plenty more to talk about so let's start at Thursday. After pulling into Detroit Lakes on Thursday afternoon, grabbing beer [...]
