Lil Wayne - I'm Single (Renaissance Man Bootcut) Weezy and Renaissance Man kinda outdo everything that I love about SALEM in one fell swoop. The eerieness is maybe a bit more heightened in SALEM, but the angsty relationship rap, the sparse, echoey percussion and the stellar buildup make this one more reason reaffirming that the hybrid, definition-less way dance music is moving is nothin' but fantastic.
M ore of a "mutant disco edit" or "final edit" than a full-on remix, Jacques Renault speeds the record, keeps the infectious staccato piano, reverbs the deliciously cheesy space disco vocals around the room, kicks up the drums, and voila, a floor burner. Azari & III - Into The Night (Nicolas Jaar Remix) via xlr8r WOAAAH MAMA! This is serious. If the Wolf + Lamb free-ep of re-edits from Jaar somehow didn't sell you on this fantastic downtempo house revisionist thing, then this track should do the trick effortlessly. Love how the buildup is so slight and non-immense, but how the whole time you're just effortlessly sucked in.
