Yeo! This week AU Magazine is descending upon Gigantic to bring a little extra love to the club. There's going to be a photographer down taking snaps of the crowd for the next issue of the mag, plus there will be some sweet AU badges and free back issues on the go too. We'd like it if there were as many peeps down representing as possible. Comment us up if you'd like to slip onto the guest list. Get in on the action, muthaflippas!

The more politically or news-aware folks out there will know that the budget was announced today, and near everyone on the planet is being bombarded around the face and head with the words 'credit crunch' and 'recession'. Coincidentally enough, the following track popped up while listening to my iPhone on shuffle. I thought it would be a good track to post, plus its had a good few plays at Gigantic . Anyone out there got any other suggestions for 'credit crunch' related tuneage? Comment us up! Gang Of Four - To [...]
Last night seemed to fly by. Was good fun indeed. Most hilarious part was Stephanie losing her shoe, yet sticking around to continue dancing (and hopping) for the whole night. Luckily the missing footwear turned up at the end. It was a bit like Cinderalla, only with less pumpkins. And Princes. And wicked sisters. Another highlight of the night was being berated by a Polish girl for being 'too edgy' and not playing enough stuff they knew. I took this as a bit of a compliment, to be honest. She still danced all [...]
KITSUNE MAISON 7 - 'THE GRADUATE' FW09 COLLECTION TEASER Uploaded by MaisonKitsune Found this wee video via Pedestrian.tv . It's basically an ingenious method the ultra hip French label Kitsune have came up with to promote both their clothing lines, and their new Kitsune Maison 7 compilation. I mean, who doesn't want to see models take their clothes off and on? Also, on a local NI angle, Two Door Cinema Club are one of the bands who have their music used, which [...]

I don't know why, but every time I think of vultures images of The Jungle Book flash through my mind. Talk about childhood imprinting... Anyways, classic animation aside, 'Vulture' is actually the new single from gender-bending, avant garde songsmith Patrick Wolf . It's a collaboration with industrial favouring noisenik Alec Empire . They're actually a great pairing, and this is a great tune. I caned 'Accident And Emergency' (off his last record The Magic Position ) at Gigantic when it came out, and still drop it now and again. Maybe this tune will [...]

The nod for this post has to go to Kim , who was the first person I know to play Passion Pit . She's been playing them at Gigantic for the past few months. Now Radio One are pimping them out across the daytime airwaves, meaning that they're probably going to reach mainstream consciousness dead soon. I asked Kim to pick out her favourite track, but she couldn't make up her mind, so we've thrown up a load of songs plus a few remixes for good measure. Let us know your favourite and it [...]

Woo! After a quiet period over Easter there are going to be plenty of updates this week, starting with Golden Silvers . It was actually Stu from Panama Kings who name dropped these guys to us first, and then coincidentally we came across their single 'True Romance' a few days later. Their debut album, also called True Romance, is out soon on the routinely awesome XL label. For some reason the track 'True Romance' is called 'True No9 Blues (True Romance)' on the album, but never worry about that, it's fuppin' great whatever title you [...]

The And So I Watch You From Afar machine is rumbling right over the face of everything right now. Their debut album is getting caned by everyone, everywhere. They're touring like muthatruckas, and they're even gracing the cover of AU Magazine this month. It doesn't stop there though, oh no. They're even dominating the Gigantic dancefloor now. Not literally the band members, but rather their track 'Set Guitars To Kill'. It got its debut airing two Fridays ago, and it's already a firm favourite. We weren't sure if it was going to [...]

Yeo! Check out this poppin' fresh remix that Two Door Cinema Club have done of the Panama Kings track 'The Angler'. We have much love for both the PK's and the Two Door and they both get a fair bit of dropping at Gigantic. In fact, some of the best responses we've had in the club has been when 'Children' is played. Though, to be fair, sometimes the band members are in the crowd, and it clears them off the floor. If it was me, I'd be singing along to my own songs, while air drumming [...]

Have been dropping Rye Rye in the club for a weewhilem and busting to see her live SXSW was the ideal opportunity. When she makes it onstage she has a hella hot DJ lady in tow, plus two dancers. Her DJ takes the mic and asks if anyone is a fan of Baltimore club music. Hell yeah, let's go. Rye Rye then bounds to the front, and her male/female dance duo bust some serious moves in the background. Her lyrical delivery is flawless, and while she might have a wee way to go before she really [...]

It's time to take a trip to a darker place. Defintely one of the best live band I have seen in a very long time, and someone who I cam back from SXSW raving about are The Paper Chase . I have their previous album Now You Are One Of Us and it's absolutely brilliant. Their soon-to-be-released album Someday This Could All Be Yours Vol. 1 is equally fantastic. It's a concept record where every track is about a different natural disaster. Genius. Onstage they come across so dangerous, vital and inspired that [...]

The blog has been a bit neglected lately on account of myself being off galavanting at SXSW . As a result, Im going to make some regular updates over the next few days of bands who rocked my world in Austin, Texas. First up we have Tigercity . I've actually been digging their record since last year, but this was the first time I'd saw them live. They totally didn't look anything like I expected them to. At first when I saw the bearded, shaven headed guy and the other longhairs setting up I thought it [...]

Yeo, Kim is opening up the Gigantic Club shenanigans tonight, so she gets the lead song choice for todays blog. Her pick is 'Solid Gold' by The Golden Filter . It's a breathy and spacey piece of throbbing electro-pop, not a million miles away from the likes of Ladytron . Is it a coincidence that Kim has major love for the 'tron ? I think not. The Golden Filter - Solid Gold Speaking of Ladytron , I just found this [...]

The new Yeah Yeah Yeahs album It's Blitz has found its way to our ears, and it's absolutely brilliant. Been digging it pretty much non-stop for the past few days. Quite dancey and a little bit spacey in places, it's full of good tracks. I haven't been able to get the opening song 'Zero' out of my head since I heard it. Expect to hear it in Gigantic this week, and I reckon a few of the other songs will be getting an airing in the club too. Here is 'Zero' for you to [...]

Posting up the Jape remix yesterday reminded me that I promised to blog Pull Tiger Tail 's 'Animator' as well. It's an old school Gigantic anthem now, we've been playing it for years. It still gets a wee play every now and again 'cause it's well splendid. Not too sure what PTT are up to these days, they had an album all ready to drop but then some sort of record company / management fall out meant that it never surfaced. Apparently the band have it back now, hopefully they'll spill it all [...]

This tune has been kicking around for ages, but it still drops like a muthaflippa. I know Stuart Gilmore is quite fond of playing it too. It got another airing in Gigantic on Friday night and a good few people came up asking what it was, so I figured it was worth posting up here so people could get to know it better. It's the D.I.M. remix of Jape 's 'Floating'. This song is from his first album, but his most recent record Ritual is an absolute must-buy as well. Go [...]

Wow, it's been a while since the blog has been updated. Got swamped by a massive deadline, but we've reached the end of the tunnel and can finally see the light. We promise that there will be lots of new music in the next few days for you to sink your teeth into. To get back into the swing of things we have simply superb track from Dan Black called 'Alone'. It got dropped in the club a few weeks back, during Kim 's birthday celebrations. There were already people on the dancefloor and I [...]

We're gonna take a break from all the electro shenanigans to drop this nugget of post-punk quality courtesy of Navvy . Sure, it borrows heavily from The Fall , and they're not shattering the mould or anything, but it's a damn good tune. Their debut album Idyll Intangible will be out in March, make sure to pick up a copy. We've had a listen and it's great. Navvy - Navvy

Another quickie update here, as was promised earlier in the week. This time in the turn of the ultra cool Chew Lips to get a plug on the blog. 'Solo' is a dose of electro-pop tastiness that wraps an almost lo-fi beat in a sultry vocal and satisfying bleeps. Jimmy Devlin is also a fan, which is a high recommendation. He literally gushed about their live show, so we're guessing he fancies the singer Tigs . Who wouldn't though, eh? Looking forward to the album from these folks dropping in 2009. [...]

Yes, The Virgins totally rule. I just discovered their self-titled debut album and it's flippin' great, sort of what The Strokes would sound like if they went disco. They've been tipped as a band to watch for 2009, and it's easy to hear why. Four separate people requested them on Friday night, which is a really good number of shout outs for such a new band. There are a load of quality tracks on the album that will definitely get a spin in the club, choice of the moment is 'Teen Lovers', which is posted here [...]
