I keep posting all these Daft Punk mash ups but its prolly cuz people cant stop sampling them. But here is something I've actually never heard before... a female R&B singer flowing over a Daft Punk beat. Its actually kinda beautiful and makes perfect sense. Wonder why more groups don't lay female vocals over more Daft tracks. Jazmine Sullivan - Dream Big Daft Punk - Veridis Quo Here's the video I saw on VH-1 Soul. If you don't have VH-1 Soul, GET IT! The best music [...]

Electrik Red is a new female R&B/Pop/Hip-Hop group that has had me floating for the past month or so. My favorite part about them so far is how dirty they are, which I was not aware of til recently. They're not scared to curse or talk about fucking a dude... which is refreshing in the overly bubbly pop music world. Britney and The Pussycat Dolls definitely aint saying "Nigga We Fuck You" in their song. Its something I really needed to hear. I love Nelly Furtado, Fergie, and Gwen so I was real hyped to hear some new females [...]
MC Hammer - Cant Touch This (1990) Dir. Rupert Wainwright Hammer dont hurt em. Hammer was like Kanye, Timberlake, and Usher all rolled into one. Dude could dance, his music was mad catchy and the ladies all loved when he took off his shirt. This was after Hammer tried to get all hard on everybody. Literally. He came out with his video for "Its All Good" (yes he started that phrase), where he dresses up like a thug and tries to look all hard. Then he made this video where he wears some leopard [...]

Fresh off their #1 spot on Hypem.com (thanks to the fans for all the support) I'm bringing you more new tracks from Italian fidget-house DJs Blatta & Inesha. Last time I posted tracks from these guys I got so many hits that the server almost crashed. Keep it up. We really appreciate all the love. And we will definitely get some more tracks for you guys before they get here to LA in August. The first track has a really cool sample from "Bangbus." Every guy my age has seen Bangbus. And if you dont know what it [...]

The Prodigy are one of the livest bands you will ever see. They are pioneers of Electronic Dance music and have been around since the early 90's. They first caught my eye in 97 when their sick ass video for "Breathe" was nominated for MTV's "Video of the Year." They came to LA on Wednesday for the first time in at least 4 years. And the bill was stacked with DESTRUCTO and The Glitch Mob opening the show. The Prodigy have what a lot of new dance bands are lacking. A real live presence. There are two [...]

My internet has been FUCKED UP recently. So its taken me a few days to do this post on my dope ass weekend. But it was a sick weekend. Pat Mahoney from DFA and LCD Soundsystem joined Hercules & Love Affair at the Avalon for Control Fridays. It was a super dance party and the DJs actually played vinyl for once. Next week Tiga will be stopping by and other LCD member James Murphy will also be there. Here are some track to get you thru the week. LCD Soundsystem [...]
Daft Punk - Around the World (1997) Dir. Michel Gondry I'm back with one of my favorite groups of all time and undeniably the best dance group ever born...DAFT PUNK! They have a deep catalogue of amazing music videos and have worked with some of the greatest directors in the game. The first time I saw the "Around the World" video (above), I knew I had to follow everything this band ever touched. And they have not disappointed once. Here is their very first music video. It had people talking because it was back [...]

I was recently in the mood for some Joanna Newsom so I popped in one of her old CDs and that shit really hits the head of the heart. I realized I had never given her any love on GB so it was about GD time. I first heard this odd, child-voiced, harp playing songstress back in 2004 thanks to one of my favorite radio DJs, KCRW's Chris Douridas. Out of California, Joanna is somewhat of an acquired taste. If you can get past her voice (which I actually love), you will hear some very inventive and vivid [...]
Me and Casey sat down (figuratively) with smoothest new indie rock band out of the UK.... Bombay Bicycle Club . Their sound is real melodic, and is perfect to get your head boppin on a Sunday afternoon. Check out their myspace page and get acquainted with your new favorite rock band: jack steadman - vocals and guitar ed nash - bass suren de saram - drums and me (jamie maccoll) guitar and vocals It says you guys are from the United Kingdom on your Myspace. Does that go for all you? [...]

Joesph Ashworth & William Green are the DJ duo "Joe & Will Ask?" Their sound is a combination of Drum N Bass merged with Hard House n Trance. Combined like a snow cones different flavors. They are London based, and seem to be travelin the world living my personal dream job of DJ'ing all over the world = ). Hopefully Key and I will catch them this summer on our Music/Movie Adventure through Europe. Enjoy.... Joe & Will Ask? - Surge (Uge!) Joe & Will Ask? - Monster [...]
Matt and Kim - Lessons Learned (2009) Dir. Taylor Cohen & Otto Arsenault **WARNING: ALL THESE VIDEOS CONTAIN GRAPHIC IMAGES AND/OR NUDITY. NSFW** I saw the new Matt & Kim video (above) on MTV2's "Subterranean" last week and it got me thinking about all the other inappropriate music videos I've seen over the years. I love raunchy and graphic material. You see it all the time in movies but because of TV standards most musicians steer away from that kind of material in their music videos. This Prodigy [...]

Golden Bloggen regular Coin Operated Boy has sent over some new tracks. An original production and a remix of a track by new indie super group, Major Lazer. I like this dude because he has his own sound, which is refreshing in a sea full of faceless electro producers. His stuff sounds like something you would play to get hyped for a big intergalactic space battle, like the one at the end of Star Wars IV. Coin Operated Boy - Heart in Mouth Major Lazer - Hold the [...]

Everybody knows Kid Cudi's "Day N Nite"by now, but some of you may not have heard his album "A Kid Named Cudi" yet. It was an independent release and most (maybe all) of the beats are previous works. Some of the borrowed beats from the album include Blah Blah by blah and Blah Blah by blah. His track "Kudi Get" steals a very unique beat from the late great-est.... J Dilla . Check out Kid Cudi's version and the original Dilla track which samples Quiet Riot's "Come on Feel the Noize." [...]

I just got the new lineup for the HARD Summerfest and this shit looks ridiculous. If you like Electro, Hip Hop, and House there is no other place to be on August 8th but at the Forum in Los Angeles. HARD is bringing yet another sick concert to my hometown of Los Angeles. It began with the HARD New Years show with Justice and 2 Live Crew and continued last year with the infamous sold-out HARD Haunted Mansion. Last year's Summerfest was great with N.E.R.D. and MSTRKRFT, but this year's show looks to dwarf last years. Underworld are [...]
Royksopp - What Else Is There (2005) Dir. Martin de Thurah Royksopp - what else is there So after a hard week of dance music and Hip Hop I'm going to slow it down with some chill electronica. I love electronica music because it is such a broad genre. There is not much new electronica these days. The new stuff seems to be mostly New Wave or Electro, but fear not, I will bring you the classic Electronica jammies today and I'll be delivering some new heaters in MP3 form this week. [...]

So I recently re-posted some old exclusives for those of you who were paying attention, but today I have some BRAND NEW SHIT to share with y'all. Fresh off the presses. I received some new tracks from Italian producers Blatta & Inesha today thanks to Casey. They sent me a dope ass Telepopmusik remix as well as a very hyped Mixtape. I'm gonna warn you this is some hard shit. They have that heavy Italian bass sound that I love so much an d first found with Bloody Beetroots, Crookers, et al. But theres something else about [...]

Growing up I used to hate girl MC's. I thought they sucked and I later found out most of them didn't even write their own rhymes. Which is the equivalent of lip synching in Hip-Hop. But recently girls have been breathing the most life into my beloved dying genre. Acts like M.I.A. , Amanda Blank , and Santigold are leaders in the game, regardless of sex. But I would of course also add Chicago native Kid Sister to that list. She's apparently still working on her solo debut album....HURRY UP ALREADY. But Fools Gold [...]
Depeche Mode - Wrong (2009) Dir. Patrick Daughters Depeche Mode was one of my favorite rock bands growing up. They were one of those bands like Fleetwood Mac and the Beatles where you constantly hear their songs everywhere as a kid and dont realize that it was theirs until years later. They've been around for almost 30 years. If you dont know their material Im sure you will recognize a few songs from their videos [...]

Montreal born DJ/Producer Tiga James Sontag has been rocking dancefloors for quite a while now. His album "Sexor" won the Juno Award for dance recording of the year in 2007. His sound in my ears is more Electroclash. He is also A member of the DJ duo ZZT who had a few Jams last year that I was diggin! His new album just dropped April 27th Titled 'CIAO!' Buy it or go get hyped at one of his shows! He will be in LA the end of May for all my Lala Land Electro Heads! See Yas There [...]
