The UK's FrYars is Ben Garrett, a 19 year old Londoner and his ambitious songwriting has earned him comparisons to artists as varied as Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright, David Bowie and Lloyd Cole. Chairlift plans to release their Columbia Records debut, Does You Inspire You , on April 21st. The album has been re-mastered and features two new tracks. The first, "Dixie Gypsy" was produced by Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear, and is more psychedelic than the band's previous ventures. The video was filmed at Sycamore Elementary School in Kokomo, Indiana, over the course of just one day in December 2008. It includes over 60 props which were mostly bought from flea markets and vintage stores. Inspiration came from Max Fischer, the character from the Wes Anderson favorite "Rushmore," who participates in so many extra-curricular activities that he flunks out of school.
