[Image: Hobo Gestapo ] Today has been a slow day for news. It seems that the only thing going on around these parts is the free MSTRKRFT show . I won't be able to make it because I already made plans to go laser-disco bowling with some friends. I hope I don't get any gutterballs. [Image: The Cobra Snake ] German prodcers ULTRNX have been on my radar since last year when they they won the Digitalism Remix Contest . It appears that they've been working hard since then and have put together a number of banging originals that can be found on their myspace. Most recently, however, they've released a remix for True Pseudo's track "Freaking Me Out". This is an epic remix, with huge distorted synths and glitched vocals. I only have a sample for you, but you can get buy the full track over [...]

In support of their debut album, "X Marks Destination" [ Amazon , eMusic , Beatport ], Manchester's top dance-rockers, The Whip , recently embarked on their first full North American tour. Finishing up the southern leg of the tour last night in Atlanta, the foursome is traveling to NYC for a three-show run this week. They'll be working their way westward at a breakneck pace over the next three weeks and will finish with two nights in LA at Spaceland and Cinespace. If you share our sentiments then you'll be looking forward to experiencing the UK's prized [...]

[Image: Misshapes ] Our favorite duo from Rio de Janeiro, The Twelves , recently released a remix of A-Ha's "Take On Me". This track really sounds more like a cover than a remix, because, although The Twelves use the original vocals, the instrumentation is all their own. They've also slowed the song down a bit, which makes it a much more pleasant listen. In all, this is an excellent interpretation of a classic track. A-Ha :: Take On Me (The Twelves Remix)

[Image: Dance On Party On ] I don't know why I've slept on this until now. Last week Villains turned an excellent remix on Lykke Li's track "Little Bit". It builds with crisp vocals over sweeping synths and plucked strings from the original. When the build up peaks a thick bassline enters to compliment the melody of the verses and chorus. You'll definitely want to put this one in your playlist. Lykke Li :: Little Bit (Villains Remix)

[Image: I Can Teach You How To Do It ] The Golden Filter have worked their magic three times over on Polly Scattergood's track "Please Don't Touch". They also provided copies to three of the top music sites - Pitchfork, Stereogum, and Gorilla vs. Bear. The Golden Filter also have three members. Coincedence? Yea actually it probably is. [Image: Rony's Photobooth ] Check out "Die" the newest track from Trash Yourself and The Toxic Avenger . It opens with a collision of synths that give way to a minimal backbeat, a clean bouncy bass, and breathy vocals. This sound doesn't last long, though, because at 1:05 a distorted bass is introduced that propels the song through grimy peaks and glitchy tweaks. Trash Yourself & The Toxic Avenger :: Die Also, check out the Kids At The Bar remix of Trash [...]

[Image: The Culture of Me ] This is a post for the great albums, concerts, bands, and blogs that have made the first three months of 2009 an exciting moment for culture and entertainment. First up are two of my favorite institutions out of NYC: The Golden Filter (pictured above) are gearing up for what is sure to be a huge year for them as they tour with The Presets this Spring and, I suspect, will be on the bill for countless festival dates this Summer; and The Culture of Me [...]

[Image: Hobo Gestapo ] Designer Drugs' newest remix sees them incorporating elements of dreamy disco into their sound with Annie's track "Antonio". The usually banger-oriented group uses a bouncy filtered bass and high sweeping synths in this remix to compliment Annie's pseudo saccharine vocals. Check out Designer Drugs as they make their around the world with shows in Seoul, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Tijuana, San Francisco, and more . Annie :: Antonio (Designer Drugs Remix)

[Image: The Cobra Snake ] Sidechain's latest remix sees him chopping up the vocals from, Swedish pop idol, Gathania's track "Blame it On You". The man form Barcelona is currently preparing for an European tour with the Buffetlibre DJ's , which I'm hoping means that he'll have a few more remixes for us in the next few months. Gathania :: Blame it On You (Sidechains Remix)
The current issue of Mixmag (April 2009) is stocked with the excellent Disco Balearica mixed by Aeroplane . Hemingway is from Toronto, Ontario, but his myspace tells us that he's currently living in New York - finishing a degree in Film Production. He describes himself as a complete beginner and aspiring expert and admits to being a recovering myspace music addict. Furthermore, he adds that some people think he's rather tall. Its nice to see a DJ/Producer being so open about who he is and what he's like. Perhaps, more DJ's will begin to leave the masks at home ( re: Bigstereo ) and allow a more intimate glimpse into their personalities. The [...]

[Image: The Cobra Snake ] So, this post isn't actually about DJ's Aoki , AM , and A-Trak . The fact is, that I couldn't find a picture of the three producers whose music I am posting, but I did find this picture of three heavy-hitters sharing some DJ secrets over a Macbook Pro. This photog comes from last night's Star Trek Dance Party at LAX hosted by Banana Split and BPM Magazine , which makes me wonder how Cobra Snake gets these pics up so fast? Anyways, maybe someone should [...]

[Image: I Can Teach You How To Do It ] Party season has officially kicked off with the start of the SXSW festival in Austin, TX, this past week, and the club music scene is gearing up for its annual celebration of life, liberty, and dance next week in Miami with the Winter Music Conference and the Ultra Music Festival . We at B&T, however, are currently in flux and are too busy moving from one large metropolis to another. As a result, we will not be able to attend either event. [...]

[Image: Hobo Gestapo ] New from Designer Drugs is the DATAMIX04 METAL . I definitely recommend giving this a listen considering its the latest piece of work from the most consistent producers in club music. However, I'd also recommend it if only for a glimpse at some new DD material. Don't forget to check the Designer Drug's myspace for details on upcoming shows. DESIGNER DRUGS DATAMIX04 METAL 1. [Image: 7 Days is a Weekend ] This isn't new, and it definitely isn't undiscovered, but it feels appropriate today. Actually, I feel like this song is appropriate every day - I might even start putting it on every morning when I wake up. Solid Gold - The Golden Filter from golden filter on Vimeo (dir. by Moop Jaw ) I usually don't comment on videos cause I think they speak for themselves, but I'd just like to point out that this combo of music and video gives me the chills. **Bonus** The Golden Filter :: Solid Gold (Russ Chimes Remix)

I'm a big fan of everything Binary . So, I was elated to find two of their latest remixes by Fabian and Nightwaves in my inbox today. I was even more excited when I saw that they had remixed Phoenix's first single, "1901", from the upcoming album "Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix". These tracks are both great re-interpretations of the original. Fabian's remix features a crisp bass that compliments the vocals nicely and slowly builds until 1:20 when a filtered synth arpeggiates into a disco-frenzy. Nightwaves, on the other hand, utilizes an echoed guitar riff [...]
