April 20th sees the return of the mighty Art Brut . Their third studio album 'Art Brut Vs. Satan' has been produced by Pixies front man Frank Black and from what I've heard so far, takes us back to their trademark sound found hidden in the depths of 2005's 'Bang Bang Rock & Roll'. Eddie Argos has still got his charm, his storytelling vocal style is one that I thought would lose its novelty four years on. But when I hit play on this album, I was taken back to that time, it has a [...]

I continue with my 1000 minutes..for those of you who are are wondering what I'm talking about, check this out . After some sound advice from the creators of this project , I've decided to slow my 1000 minutes down abit. Why? Well, once I've run out of the designated minutes, there's no turning back, no editing. That will be it. After discussing the idea with my girlfriend last night we decided how interesting this would be, looking back in a years time and picking out the tracks that I've changed my mind about. I like [...]

With the festival season looming, its time to scan the line up's and make a decision on where you'll be heading if you haven't already. As always, my heart lies with Bestival and if you're contemplating it too then how about I give you an example of an artist playing that should be high on your must watch list. James Yuill released his brilliant debut album 'Turning Down Water For Air' through Moshi Moshi last October, if you don't own it yet, I suggest you hook yourself up with a copy, here . Packed [...]

I was doing some blog browsing recently when I came across a project that truly inspired me to think long and hard. The project is called '1000 minutes' and it has been created by the boys over at Tympanogram . The writers of the blog, Andy and Dave have started an ongoing list project in which they choose 1000 minutes worth of tracks they would fill an mp3 player with if they were stuck on a desert island with only that to listen to. The rules are simple, they're not with each other, so they can't share [...]

Bloc Party have got to be one of the most remixed bands around. The band themselves clearly embrace this as they are now set to release their second remixed compilation. In 2005 we saw the release of their critically acclaimed debut, Silent Alarm, shortly followed by the brilliant 'Silent Alarm : Remixed'. Now, four years on we are told of the forthcoming release of 'Intimacy : Remixed' a collection of reworks which make their 2008 release more suitable for dance-floors than the original indie anthems. 'Intimacy : Remixed' is released on May 11th this year [...]

Annie releases her next single 'Anthonio' on May the 4th through Pleasure Masters. It doesn't quite reach the standard of her last release 'I Know UR Girlfriend Hates Me' in terms of instant pop brilliance, but its a grower for certain. To wet your pallet, heres a remix by Designer Drugs ... Annie - Anthonio (Designer Drugs Remix) (Direct Link) (Alt Link YSI) LINKS Annie's Myspace Designer Drugs [...]
Breakbot has won me over again with his latest remix. 'Extraball' is the best track on Yuksek's 'Away From The Sea' if you ask me. Although, saying that, as soon as Amanda Blank's vocals drop on a track I'm sold. So, who is Breakbot? A Parisian of course, where else would he be from?! Breakbot is the King of the mellow mix, master of the slow jam. The man you would put in charge to create a soundtrack for a lazy summers afternoon. The man is pure brilliance. Yuksek [...]

Example and Don Diablo = Dreamteam. Or so it seems if their new collaboration is anything to go by. So what do you get when you mix the best MC to ever come out of Fulham (that I've heard anyway) with one of the most established DJ's/Producers around at the moment? Don Diablo - Instant Replay (Feat. Example) (Direct Link) (Alt Link YSI) That's what. A tune and a half. While we're at it...Don Diablo recently remixed an Examples brilliant 'Girl [...]

Personally endorsed by A-Trak , Klever is certainly a DJ not to be messed with. You should see his trophy cabinet. From the age of 20, Klever entered himself into almost every DJ competition there was going proving himself as a an outright genius turntablist. Anyone who has witnessed Klever live seems to confirm the statement found on his myspace biography. He moves crowds in every direction from his roots of crunk, booty, and hip hop to the sweaty sounds of electro, dance-rock, b-more, new-wave, hard rock, and anything worthy to make you rock with finesse. [...]

The first remix has dropped for the feel good track of the summer and it comes from the man you'd expect, Don Diablo. This is my second post in relation to The Chemical Brothers' "Swoon" and I've got a pretty strong feeling that it won't be the last, right now, I can't imagine it ever becoming stale. The Chemical Brothers - Swoon (Don Diablo Remix) ( Drop IO ) (Alt Link YSI) x
