Yeasayer's debut was a flat-out folk album. With abstract vocals and tragic concepts, the album drifted steadily from song to song with irregular flutterings of acoustics on top of a bed of intense drum patterning. Their new approached, who many will be convinced is Merriweather Post Pavillion-influenced, is an electric affair with a continued sense of darkness. Few tracks, including their incredible single 'Ambling Alp', have more of a party intent, as we hear the band stylishly slip into avant-garde pop a million times more coherent that Animal Collective. 'Odd Blood' is one of a [...]

Summer Camp's cover of the Flamingos' 'I Only Have Eyes For You' is possibly one of the deepest and most solemn sounding tracks since Lykke Li's goosebump performance of 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' . The hauntingly distorted vocals of the seven sweedish singers sound incredible over their lethargic organs and live drums. Bands like Summer Camp and Beach House are making the organ like way cool. Sooner or later every blog in virtual existence will post about these amazing Sweedes, so [...]

One of our favourite publications/magazine/blog/new media 'bit of everything' kinda shit, Platform , had an absoulte brainwave when they asked Ernest Greene of Washed Out to create a mixtape for them. After creating one of the best albums of 2009 and one of the strongest Lo-Fi/Psychdelic LPs of all time, Greene effortlessly blows out a twenty minute blend of perfection. The mixtape, initially based on Greene's recent marriage, features magical cuts from other musical saviours, Toro Y Moi, Arch M and Osborne. If his wedding was as heavenly as his mix suggests then maybe we won't give [...]

The brilliantly innovative series of 7s from Fader and Southern Comfort reaches its eleventh release this December with a ghostly combination of SALEM and Tanlines . Head to the site now to bag yourself 1 of 500 copies of the 7"Vinyl. SALEM are amazing. Stream: SALEM - Babbydaddy. Stream: Tanlines - S.A.W. Sample MP3s for 24hours & support artists by [...]

As a last minute attempt to catch up on some of 2009's best music, we bumped into 'Belong' by Pitchfork/ GvsB faves Washed Out . Along with the likes of Neon Indian, Toro Y Moi and Memory Tapes, Washed Out are pioneers of the minimalist/lo- fi /psychedelic craze that's spread itself from hipster to hipster this year. Their debut single 'Feel It All Around' was the summer anthem of '09, leaving us full of love and spaced out to da max. Confident, swagger like vocals hop and skip through a fuzzy field of bells, [...]

They're back! 'Lost A Girl' is the first single from NEW YOUNG PONY CLUB's second album! Due out February 2010, their sophomore album entitled 'The Optimist' will feature their chilling new single, available for free download on the website as of today. Whether or not they'll match the success of their delicious debut 'Ice Cream' is yet to be seen, however their plans to play at the NME awards next February suggest 2010 gon be huge for NYPC. Awesome. Sample MP3s for 24hours & support artists by buying their material.

This is the direction we want to see Animal Collective go in. Heavy drums and repetitive chants. It's raw and noisey. 'I Think I Can' closes out their incredible 'Fall Be Kind' EP and pretty much their year long reign as best act of the year. With new AnCo, Kid Sister, Lady Gaga and Beach House taking a leak, we've been more than satisfied this November. But as all the blogs gear themselves up for their Best of 2009 lists, this November seemed a little rushed. Let's take a look back... If you're depressed about not being able to see any of the magical Hot Chip/the xx North American tour then you might be pleased to know that Hot Chip are streaming their brand new single, "One Life Stand", on their myspace . Actually, on second thoughts, the song's a little melancholy so it's probably no good. Take a listen to it anyway and prepare yourself for the album of the same name out Febuary 8th on British label, Parlophone . Stream: Hot Chip - One Life Stand Sample [...]

I know some people that say the Maccabees are the greatest band ever. These people irritate me. The Maccabees are like water. No one actually "loves" water, it's just alright init. Roots Manuva is a little better, maybe tonic water? Still kinda dull. I'm sure trillions of people disagree with my water analagies, but either way, take a listen to the Maccabees/Roots Manuva collab above. They've taken the Maccabees track, "No Kind Words" and added some Roots Manuva. Surprisingly, it works really well. Sample MP3s for 24hours & support artists by [...]
2009Playlist This track came out earlier this year along with one of our favourite electro albums of the year. Moderat is a collaboration between two DJs from Berlin and in short, their lead single "A New Error", is a brooding piece of intense electro like nothing else before. Official vid above: kinda cool at first but then it gets boring. MP3: Moderat - A New Error Sample MP3s for 24hours & support artists by buying their material.

Last week mummy diva, Kelis, debuted her fantastic new single "Acapella" on her official website . Produced by David Guetta, the track rolls with the current trend of pop influnced by House music with huge synths and sparse beats. It's good. It reminds me of Simian Mobile Disco a little. Can't wait for her Boize Noize/ Diplo/ Switch produced album! Take a listen to the track at her site and make sure you send her a tweet telling her how much you love her. Joy Orbison is like 3 months old but has quickly become one of the hottest names in music right now. His mind numbing dubstep is some next level shit; it's life changing like jesus was . And although he'll probably never recreate anything as insane as his debut, " Hyph Mngo ", his latest release is still an incredible creation of hypnotic claps and taps and ringing synths . Available now from Orbison's myspace ; we're assured 2010 will see [...]
