True Pseudo , once a Drum and Bass group, are a welcome addition to the electro/dance punk genre. Think The Rapture but grittier. The band out of Orange County, California, recently released a new EP on Chicago based Calamity Jane Recordings . This 3 track EP features their single 'Freaking Me Out' and remixes by Nadastrom and ULTRNX . The remix by Nadastrom is full of fidgety glitch house, smooth synth and a great vocal sample snippet. This will be a dance floor destroyer. [...]

Last night I actually sat through a little bit of American Idol (it was Michael Jackson night, OK?). I was lucky enough to see Allison Iraheta perform Michael Jackson's Give Into Me. Allison nailed it, I applauded, then quickly changed the channel before Randy Jackson could barrage her with his terrible slang . Looks like he lost weight though, YGB! She really reminds me of Pink with talent, or, a modern Melissa Etheridge gone slightly punk and very unpolished. Side note, Michael Jackson's Give Into Me was [...]

This this kid is on fire right now. After releasing his first EP, Bleep on Etage Noir Special , this 18 year old has earned the respect of Boys Noize and The Bloody Beetroots . Dirty Disco Youth already has a shit-ton of remixes out, more on the way, and there is no doubt he will be a force in the electro scene. Be sure you check out the spring 2009 mix which previews some new material from this beast from Hamburg. His recent remix of Super Chichi by French producer Night Drugs [...]

Barcelona's Sidechains is getting featured on more and more music blogs....and rightfully so. He's effectively captured the musical sensibility of the 80s New Wave, updated the sounds and blended it with French House. The music straddles the line between cheesy and epic, without ever going too far in either direction. Below are my three favorite tracks, but anything by Sidechains is damn good. These three jams are bound to be summer classics, and I think this Spanish producer is gonna blow the !@#$ up pretty soon. Sidechains has recently released a free EP [...]

I can comfortably say that Philly/Brick City Club music is my favorite style right now. And no one does it better than the Brick Bandits . This crew is pretty big, but most of the well-known work comes from DJ Sega , DJ Tameil , Tim Dolla , DJ Tiga (not the one you're thinking of) and Dirty South Joe . Not only are they responible for some bangin' ish, but their music has fostered a lot of the new dances the Myspace/Youtube kids are doing. Future posts are gonna give you a [...]
I'm a huge fan of music videos, especially late 80s and early 90s rap videos. Every week The Boombox Incident is gonna post a favorite. They're not always gonna be rap videos, but they will usually be older. Music videos get pulled from Youtube often, so we'll try to find reliable links and fix broken ones as often as possible. This first post features Wu-Tang Clan's Da Mystery of Chessboxin'. I love the old Wu-Tang videos. Not only is it a bunch of dudes just chillin' while someone rhymes, they tend to spend a lot of time in [...]
Blogland, Let me take a moment to introduce myself. Remember when Big Tigger still hosted Rap City untill R-Kelly had a hare-brain idea having him featured on a track ? He would always bring in the wackiest guest DJ's and they would have a 2-3 minute long introduction with about 10 different aka's and most of the time they were just phrases and not actual names? Well; "It's yo boi 'Kyle' aka 'Outty' aka '1/2 of iFamous' aka 'Watchout for your girl' aka 'Your DJ's favorite blogger' aka 'roll up the rim and win' aka 'She seen [...]
Hey everyone, this is my first post. It's more of a test really. There's gonna be a lot more to come. The blog is still a work in progress, but I'm gonna launch anyways. There's two other people involved with this blog, and you'll hear from them soon. Chyeah.
