We are so excited that The Golden Filter debut is on the verge of being released; as it's been a long time since we found out about them, got enthusiastic about their mysteries, brought them to one of our parties and became life-time fans of Stephen and Penelope 's project. The duo made available on their website the first official release of Voluspa - to be released on the 26th of April via Brille (home of The Knife and Good Shoes ). [...]

OH-oo-Oh-oo-Oh We all know how catchy single syllables repeated can be when used in a song. But for Wild Beasts , 'catchy' doesn't do justice to what their dulcet vocals crooning "Oh-oo-oh-oo-ohhhh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh" does in this lengthily named 'We Still Got The Taste Dancin' On Our Tongues'. I gotta say, for some reason the video makes me giggle a little bit, with it's four horizontal protangonists floating into the snow and fields and sky; and the noble steed running in slow motion and all... Don't get me wrong, [...]

Thieves Like Us If there is one decade who's influence never ceases, its the 80s. Although sometimes this might kill any sense of originality from the new reverbers, occasionally there's a combination of old and new that works flawlessly. The American/Swedish trio Thieves Like Us has been on both sides of this game - sometimes you can hear too much of a resemblence of the band they took their name from (*New Order*, just in case you didn't know) - but with their new single, 'Never Known Love', [...]

Lemonade is back with a refreshing new sound. The trio from Brooklyn is releasing a new EP at the beginning of March as the follow up to their immensely enjoyable self-titled debut album - and by now we hope you know how the internet world works. If something is going to be released next month, you can have the whole deal now (or at least the tasty bits). So what about listening to this flavorish mix of influences that is their new single right now? Just check the video below (you can also download the [...]

Danny Sangra The scope of Danny Sangra 's mad skillz is seriously enviable. Truly of the multi-media, multi-talented breed, Danny Sangra's work spans everything from film, illustration, collage to knitwear and all in between. Further more, he's not just a dabbler, or even a jack of all trades; London based Danny in fact excels at all the mediums he manipulates and embodies the ultimate in a modern, multifacted young artist. From videos for Metronomy to designing prints for Louis Vuitton Homme and tees [...]

On To The Next One (I even made a gif) I've been obsessed with Jay-Z and Swizz Beats ' super bad ass 'On To The Next One' since my friend Michael (incidentally, who's track 'Drop Down', is currently on the latest Skins trailer ) dropped into Sydney for a few gigs and tipped me off to the awesome video which I've been playing incessantly since. I'd heard whispers of a Justice sample in the track but didn't pay very much attention to [...]

Charlotte Gainsbourg photographs by Kurt Iswarienko Taken from latest issue (#107, the art issue) are the photos from a feature editorial spread on 'France's favourite daughter', and that of virtually royal creative blood, Charlotte Gainsbourg . Gainsbourg is coquettishly gamine and the eternal ingenue even at 38; captured flitting about the Chateau Marmont in LA. The last couple of years have been somewhat of a roller coaster for Gainsbourg; but the result is a full length [...]

Sheer, sheer goodness - as I love me anything black and sheer. And the latest R. Groove collection delivers all that and more. Designer Rique Gonçalves burst onto the Brazilian fashion scene in 2007, and has since been a rising star. Producing one of the most interesting collections in the Fashion Rio season, he's been collecting numerous awards for his work since he debuted, including what's considered the Oscars of fashion awards in Brazil: being named Breakthrough Fashion Designer (alongside Alexandre Herchcovitch who received Best Menswear Designer that year) in 2008. [...]

The xx & These New Puritans on tour For all those outside - as well as inside - of Europe crying blood tears about not being able to catch this most heartbreakingly amazing double header of both The xx and These New Puritans TOGETHER on their absolutely gruelling tour schedule around Europe, the best consolation we can offer you right now is that Domino are giving away 'Orion' as a tissue to dab your eyes with. [...]

via Disney Roller Girl Let's take a trip back to the 80s, or perhaps just over to the Eastern Bloc in this freshly dug up footage of Marina and the Diamonds and Gonzales on Estonian television, performing this super pretty, incredibly wholesome (but not without a lick of tongue in cheek) orchestral rework of Marina's new single, 'Hollywood', as concocted by Gonzales who tinkles the ivories with white gloved hands. The video is complete with fade ins and overlaps of Marina and her tastefully [...]

Tanlines photograph by James Ryang We are loving True Panther Sounds right now! Responsible for putting out gems such as Girls , Lemonade , Hunx and His Punx and now, Tanlines , True Panther are cultivating a great little scene of music. Coming through on the 9th of March is Tanline's super ace debut EP release, Settings. And True Panther are releasing the hooky track 'Real Life' PLUS the remix by [...]

Dev Hynes is such a chameleon. He was a noisy teenager in Test Icicle s, then an excellent modern folk singer, then his voice did a nice turn on the electronic lines of Basement Jaxx 's 'My Turn' - not to mention all his one-release-garage-rock projects - and now he's decided that it was time to cover the King of the Rock. In order to celebrate the release of his second album under the name of Lightspeed Champion ( Life is Sweet! Nice To Meet You., out on the 1 st [...]

Backstage @ Alessa Being a musicky kind of person, the Alessa show made me smile - it was bright, upbeat and a little bit shambolic in a sort of happily rock and roll way. Alessa was full of fun pieces destined to draw comment from even the most fashion blind of people. With prints that were verging on cheesy in a 90s kinda Blossom -esque fashion haphazardly cut and pasted together, made up of flowers and musical instruments amongst other things, as well as colourful vinyls made [...]

Dan Black Dan Black is getting his American release at the beginning of February which can only led to one thing: re-re-re-releases! But in this case, for several reasons, it might be a good idea. First of all, he never got the exposure that he deserved and (I'm skipping to the final one) he is receiving lots of new remixes. 'Symphonies', that track that used to be called 'Hypnotise' and had Notorious B.I.G. lyrics, is the first re-release in a pack with three new remixes (and [...]

The melancholic cyborg It might be released only on the 26 th of January, but Beach House 's Teen Dream is already considered one of the strongest albums of 2010, knowing that Sub Pop is treating the release like it should: a winner. So when you buy the album you get a DVD with a video for every one of the 10 songs. And if the video for its first single, 'Used to Be', is anything to go by, we might be facing the most beautiful packet that [...]

Crookers I've never been a fan of Crookers , but apparently this new album, appropriately called Tons of Friends, is going to be good and, erm , well, starred! The Italian duo are stepping away from the chainsaw type synths and are working on a new mix of techno and electro sounds that can get super heavy, but manages to remain away from that bleeding ears kinda noise. Come with me on a journey to listen to all the released songs from this album...I can guarantee you that they are [...]

Claudia Simoes really appealed to me with her cool and casual yet sharp collection. Not too serious; with bright colours and graphic prints, a strong but none too exaggerated shoulder and a good horsey platform boot, Claudia Simoes hit all the main spots enough to satisfy cool urban girls with things to do and people to see. I felt like the colour ways and the panelled shapes on some looks gave a vague nod to Herchcovitch's last women's collection with it's rich purple, deep orange and shiny blueberry. Coupled with some slick optical [...]

18 centuries dresses, beautiful deserts and girls... You know where this is going right? Food fight! This might be one of the biggest videos clichés ever, but don't you wish you were part of this? Oh yeah, this video is for the Acid Girls ' single 'Lightworks', released back in September. The song is a mediocre electronic number (meh) but it does get better with the video - almost like an eccentric ad. And as I am being mean already, they could've used a bit less reverse on this one. Acid Girls - Lightworks [...]

Bradford Cox If you can find a reason not to love Atlas Sound , you, my friend, are living a poor sad life. Or maybe you are too happy to... Either way, you lose. Unfortunately, you can't listen to Atlas Sound at a normal club night otherwise people would gloom their way down, but this might change now. That's because this French duo called Cracks are sharing with the world their edit for the track 'Shelia'. This introspective number was mixed with [...]
