I hate to say it, but I have two hours of Matt Pond PA on my iPod. That's two fucking hours for those unaware of how many minutes are in 2 hours. Crazy, right? The past decade the indie world was littered with animal bands from Animal Collective to Grizzly Bear to Sea Bear to Sea Wolf to Wolf Parade to the Antlers, etc. etc. Apparently, the deer are now taking over. You got your Deer Hoof, Deertick and Deerhunter--the latter being my favorite deer band. Have i heard the album? Not really. Do i really know this band's music? No. What do I know? Another sign of the Apocalypse or just another example of American ingenuity (in tough times, no less)??? That's right, this is sandwich that replaces a bun made of flour, sugar, eggs, yeast, salt, etc. with one made of fried chicken. Between these chicken "buns" you got your obligatory healthy stuff like two slices of cheese, bacon and sauce (to bind that shit together). The Annuals are North Carolina's finest band, hands down. Well, actually, i can't think of any other bands from N.C., but this is tuneful with vintage keyboards. It's little bit emo but damn if this shimm ain't catchy. check it out.
