To truly bring out the 'fresh' in Fresh from the Post, this week, we're featuring an artist that exudes tons of energy from both her songs and her performances. We go off the our beaten path of rock-pop, into Fresh from the Post's less traveled area of electro-dance, in our one on one talk with Malaysian disco dance pop artist, Ze! Can you tell us how did you started out? I started gigging about 10 [...]

I don't love you migraines. Sorry to disappoint, but this post won't have any new music (but I did manage to update the lyric of the day). It'll only contain a snippet of explanation on the absence of posts for the past few days - which can be attributed to my debilitative migraine. Since almost passing out at a bathroom stall in The Bay at downtown Vancouver a few years back (and luckily being saved by a corageous Jones New York employee named Patricia) - I have taken my migraine attacks seriously and have been taking frequent [...]

This is my attempt at making some sort of art in our weekly album cover feature. I wanted it to look like a rainbow, but didn't have enough rows for it...so a multicolor stripe was the end result. Three primaries and green. It ain't that bad. The music from these albums are better though. There's more to check out if you go clickety-click on them too.

We take a break from the usual List Addicts Fridays to make way for some amazing stuff from Buffetlibre . If you haven't heard the news yet - Buffetlibre and Amnesty International Catalunya has teamed up to form the first music atlas on the web. Called PEACE - it's a project that unites artists from all over the globe in support for Amnesty International . The site offers a compilation of over 180 unreleased songs from your favorite artists from different parts of the globe. As a sampler, we've got [...]
Just because I'm craving for some Kick-Ass - Chloe Moretz, Clark Duke and McLovin in The Soft Pack 's new video of Answer to Yourself is our Video of the Week.

I am a Lucky Soul fan. Indeed I am. From the first time I heard 'Lips Are Unhappy', I instantly got hooked - all the more with a full listen to their debut album The Great Unwanted . Ali Howard's sweet soothing vocals, partnered with 60's style upbeat soul, was the just the right combination that felt like drinking fizzy lifting drinks to remedy a drowning heart. So imagine how elated I was to know that the group was releasing another full length, and that I had the chance to get [...]

To ease in to the new week, we start with our new-ish weekly post - We (heart) album art. And to further reiterate that yes, this is a database - we've got 16 albums featured that have one common theme. For this week, it's one of mankind's top favorite things to exploit: animals . We here at The Indie Music Database, love animals (especially ones of the corgi kind) and it's no surprise that our favorite indie artists love them as well. So don't [...]

And we're back. Apologies for the unannounced hiatus there. It just tells you how truly 'indie' this website is, since basically, there's only one person running it. And when that said person flies home because of a family emergency...everything stops. It's kind of hard going back to the swing of things after the death of my dad, but remembering how he turned me on to music at such an early age, and how much of a music junkie I am - I just couldn't stop right? My [...]

On our late Fresh from the Post this week, we have Brooklyn based band All Night Chemists . All Night Chemists is fronted by NYC musician, engineer and producer Len Monachello He's one of those play-20-instruments-well-and-a lso-engineer-while-having-a-sa ndwich kind of guys. He plays almost every instrument on the band's new album 'Meet Me Again' and has written, produced and performed almost every song himself. We had a chance to get a Q and A with Len to talk more about his music, sample a couple of songs and marvel how Sesame Street can [...]

Ack! Another new weekly thing! I don't know why I torture myself in putting up weekly recurring posts even though I rarely post them up on time. But this one you'll love (I hope!). Though it may not seem so, we are actually an Indie Music Database (hence the db search section at the top). As I work towards getting our database beefed up, I encourage you to browse through the many artists on the site by this weekly album post. If you guys are anything like me, album covers always pique my interest whether or not I know the [...]

To anyone who's ever cared to read the About Us section of this site, you would know that part of the reason why I made this site was for my son Paolo - who loves indie music, as well as surfing on the net. Another cool thing about him is that he's autistic. When I say cool, I don't mean to take autism lightly here - believe me, we've had our ups and downs with his condition, but to borrow Dr. Temple Grandin 's words (who's a famous autistic person herself), it's also a gift. [...]
You've probably been living under a rock if you haven't heard of Merton, the funny piano improv guy on Chatroulette. I wanted to put his first video up as Video of the Week the minute I saw it because : one, it's hilarious and two, it's music, and funny music to boot. But then I figured, since everybody's probably seen it, it would be a better idea if I had something else with it...like maybe a Q and A. So in the off chance that I could get some information about the mysterious piano improv guy, I send him a [...]

Ian McGlynn is no stranger to The Indie Music Database. If you had a chance to check out our 25 Indie Songs of Christmas last year - you'll definitely remember him for his magically nostalgic Christmas song ' Listen to the Choir Sing '. In this week's edition of Fresh from the Post, we got a chance to check back with Ian and got to know more about his music, sample a couple of songs as well as talk about a new project just under his sleeve. [...]

Happy is when I see cute kitties lounging in toilet bowls. I just love four day work weeks right after Spring Break - it just brings out the 'happy' in people. Here now is your lyric of the day recap - "Summer love is a scam. But I can't help dreaming of summer romance." Summer's The Worst by Michael Leviton "I can see why you'd pick them over me. [...]

The Friday list comes on during Saturday again. I blame it on the migraine - which has slowly been killing me over the past years. Migraines aside, in this week's list, we go a bit spiritual ( I think ) - since it's Lent, and something in my Catholic upbringing thinks this is going to be fun. Today, our featured artists will be ones that have songs that have a Christian bent or have that unique Christian influence. But don't let that turn you off though - these artists are more than your run-of-the-mill Christian bands. First [...]
In honor of the release of the new Scott Pilgrim movie trailer, our video of the week is of the song that started it all. It's 1997 all over again with Halifax all-girl band Plumtree and their single Scott Pilgrim . To those who don't know it yet, the popular graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O'Malley was inspired by this little old Plumtree song. Of course this post wouldn't be complete without the trailer for the upcoming movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World that you can check out [...]

In this week's edition of Fresh from the Post, we sample a bit of Manila electropop with Techy Romantics . We caught up with the Techy Romantic's Dondi Virrey and asked him a few things about his group's brand of music... Just to give us a background about the band - how and when did the Techy Romantics start? Techy Romantics...the name came from an invite I saw in the Internet. It captured the concept of the kind [...]

Some people really can't appreciate the authenticity of kid-drawn robots . In any case, if you were one of the few who did, I extend to you my warmest and deepest thanks. Otherwise, face the wrath of Cat-robot. Feel his evil death stare upon you, his fierce hell claws just waiting to pounce. You might want to watch your back. I kid you not. Here is the recap - "Sometimes I think that I'm bigger than the sound" [...]

Not counting last week's robot T-shirt design post (since it wasn't even music-related), it's been a while since I've posted a Paolo related music post . If you've been keeping tabs, the last song he got obsessed with was Who Left the Lights Off, Baby . Now, I'm happy to report that this has changed. It was hard pry him away from his fixation on the Guillemots , but I have finally succeeded :) Not only that, I also lowered my burnout rate on songs that Paolo listens to repeatedly, by [...]
I've always loved La Blogotheque 's Take-Away shows. There's always something grand about impromptu live music in places where you don't usually get to see them. Of course, when I heard that they got The Rest performing one of my favorite songs, I just had to post this up as video of the week. The video above is The Rest at Coney Island, performing Modern Time Travel. If you like what you hear, you can also check out their Book/EP called The Cried Wolf, which is available here :)
