SpeakerJunk AKA Herve & Trevor Loveys free samples pack!

SpeakerJunk AKA Herve & Trevor Loveys free samples pack! The mighty duo that got me into bass-driven house music, and I'm sure they did the same for a lot of you out there too, are giving away all their trademark sounds in the latest Loopmasters pack. No matter how much it's slandered now, the pair pretty much created 'fidget' house on their own. Their tracks were the soundtrack to the first 'proper' house party I ever went to and still remain in my CD wallet today - for those special moments where you let loose and frantically flick through your CD's looking for that party-fuelled bass-inspired tune. [...]

The Shoes - Stay The Same EP (Oct 25th Southern Fried)

The Shoes - Stay The Same EP (Oct 25th Southern Fried) The Shoes have been locked in dark rooms applying the finishing touches to their debut album due this spring. The French dynamic duo have been calling on all the friends they've met on their travels over the last few years to help them realise their musical dreams. Its some guest list..and is testament to the contagious enthusiasm and er....'joie de vivre' that Guillaume and Ben always bring to their dj sets, remixes, live shows and late nights that this stella crew jumped at the chance to feature on the debut album. Esser [...]

Kid Kaio - Broadway EP

Kid Kaio - Broadway EP Kid Kaio is one of my favourite artists of the past year, every release, bootleg and remix has been incredible and always using sounds that I've never heard before. Admittedly, he's done bootlegs of songs like Estelle's 'American Boy' - but even then, after every remix I've heard of that song, his is still the best. He blends house and techno like it's milk and coffee, he adds elements of hip-hop and breaks to every production and comes up with some of the funkiest, most jackin' party tunes you ever hear. I like to think [...]

LL02 - Jon Curtis

Hi sorry again for the mini-break, it's been Fresher's week here in Sheffield so I've been DJing my butt off while working full-time 9-5 everyday. But 'nuff excuses. I recently bought a web-host and a domain and I'm currently reworking this whole site into something more exciting. I was thinking of ideas the other day after slowly realising how the music blog culture is slowly falling on it's arse. A certain Jon Curtis gave me a nudge in the right direction and with so, recorded me a mix - I figure I'll make a feature out of this. [...]

Disco of Doom

Disco of Doom Since ' Sex Face ' literally just exploded out of every clubs speakers in the past couple weeks, I thought I'd share more talent from the creators of said tune that got charted by Brodinski and plays from the best DJ's in the world. Disco of Doom have been floating just under the surface since as long as I can remember, one of those production duos that you think 'their time should come soon'. Well, it finally has. Their biggest release to date, ' Sex [...]

M.I.A x Riton

M.I.A x Riton I'm so glad this has finally been let loose for free, this 're-rub' by Riton has been a staple in every one of my DJ sets lately. It's a remix of M.I.A's latest big hit, 'XXXO' (which sticks in your head for days). It's a perfect mid-setter just down to those brilliant vocals coming in at about 15 seconds in, it perfectly coasts along the back of the song before (that's you have chosen the right song to mix into). I don't think a lot of [...]

Dinosaurs With Guns - Homework Remix

Normally I don't really share remixes that have come from competitions, firstly because I get sent hundreds upon hundreds of them from producers who have claimed the free stems and secondly because remix competitions are (stupidly) always held on songs that just shouldn't be touched. ' Dinosaurs With Guns' is one of those great productions that just shouldn't be touched, unless it's by a phenomenally good producer. In this case, it's been touched by a pair of phenomenally good producers. So, I'll share. Homework exploded onto the scene last year [...]

Camel

Just been sent this brand-spanking new freebie from Camel , just as we were wondering where the funky tech-house connoisseur had disappeared to. This clearly means he's back in our faces, after having a great succession of remixes for the likes of Mowgli, Malente & Dex, Yankee Zulu, Matt Walsh etc and already classic originals like Dada and Zig Zag . He is part of that corner of house music where the Deadfish (obviously) and Made To Play kind of music likes to hang out. That funky, boppin' and bass [...]

Hey Today!

Hey Today! - Strange (original mix) LL34 preview
You must've heard of Hey Today! by now right? They've been closely associated with the elite of electro for some time now. The likes of Erol, Tiga, Boys Noize and Busy P have included their songs in every one of their sets for the past six months. DJ and Live duo Raik Krause and Robert Nickel who share studio rooms with Digitalism in a Hamburg-based world war 2 bunker, have already had releases on Turbo (with a Busy P remix included), Bang Gang and Kitsune . They've [...]

Major Lazer - When You Hear The Bassline (Tony Senghore Remix)

Major Lazer - When You Hear The Bassline (Tony Senghore Remix) I know this remix has been hunted down for a long long time now, fortunately I have been given permission to share it at last! Tony Senghore from Sweden has been producing for most of his life and has one of the most diverse discographies I've ever seen, but each production has pushed the boundaries to the limit and has found new ways to make people 'shuffle their tired feet'. His latest work includes the likes of remixes for Brodinski , Para One and Nouveau Yorican . His [...]

Clouds Interview + EXCLUSIVE NEW TRACK!

Clouds Interview + EXCLUSIVE NEW TRACK! So I just caught up with Liam from Scotland's newest exports, Clouds . I've met Liam and the other musketeer Calum a couple of times now and I tell you they are ridiculously humble for people who are about to be thrust into electronic world stardom. In a matter of a few months these two have gained more attraction from the biggest labels in the world, than a superstar producer has in their whole career. And they're still teens (just). It's fully deserved [...]

Manare - Quiet Riot EP (Top Billin')

Manare - Quiet Riot EP (Top Billin') I first heard a Manare tune in one of r'kid Mele 's mixes. I immediately needed to know who it was and what it was. Turns out it's Riot Kid's alter ego, Riot Kid being part of the Youngunz imprint with his Speakeasy EP. I'm not sure whether he's completely ditched this alias or not, but he seems to be moving in the right direction with this latest release ' Quiet Riot' EP on Top Billin' . The EP comes with [...]

Arveene & Misk - Eavesdropper (Bang Gang 12"s)

Arveene & Misk - Eavesdropper (Bang Gang 12"s) What a treat to hear from one of the artists that I have loved from the beginning of my electronic saga, Arveene . An email popped in my inbox today to talk about the Irish electro lord's latest single with Misk, that's just been released on one of my favourite aussie labels Bang Gang 12" (the owners of which, used to curate the greatest mixes of all time, if you haven't ever listened to 'D is for Disco, E is for Dancing', then do so, now). If [...]

Most talked about track of the week.

Justin Martin & Ardalan - Mr Spock
I listened to Justin Martin's essential mix all week on my way to work which included this (I memorised the time it came in, so I could skip to it), heard it on Jaymo & Andy George's show who have dubbed it their 'essential new tune' and Justin's coming to Sheffield with VonStroke on the 28th of this month. We'll see if I can make it out after my huge Club Pony the night before though... Check poster over there! -->

LOL Boys - 123 EP out now on Palms Out Sounds

LOL Boys - 123 EP out now on Palms Out Sounds The next release on Palms Out label, already been one of my favourite blogs for a number of years - it's fast becoming my favourite label too. One of my favourite release's of the year was POS016 with Dubbel Dutch's 'Throwback' EP. That release was UK funky, tech, breaks and all sorts mixed into a catchy, hook-filled goodness. I still play all three tracks out every time I DJ. So for POS019 Palms Out have L.A based LOL Boys , who have already worked with Teki Latex [...]

Simian Mobile Disco - Nerve Salad & new Mix CD

Simian Mobile Disco - Nerve Salad & new Mix CD Right, so Internet back, let's get straight to it. I've been trawling through just shy of a 1000 emails and although I got slightly dizzy at the amount, this particular clearly stuck out above the rest. It's perfect timing to receive an email showcasing Simian Mobile Disco's latest news. A couple of weeks ago we had our festival in the city called Tramlines , for one of the three nights Club Pony had SMD come to play. My god they slayed everyone in [...]

Sorry..

Sorry.. Louis here, I've just moved into a new house with no internet connection until the last week of july (ish). This makes me sad, if it makes you sad too, I'm sorry. Such a shame when I've got so many things to share and tell you all about - it's all happening in Sheffield too, what with Tramlines festival next weekend with the likes Annie Mac, Toddla T and Simian Mobile Disco to name a few! I'll be DJing the SMD night on the Friday with Club Pony and again on the Saturday with Riton + super secret [...]
