"Dan Aykroyd reveals that all the original cast have now signed on for Ghostbusters 3 , including Sigourney Weaver, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson. Apparently Bill Murray, who holds a one-fifth controlling interest, was very reluctant at first, not even willing to read a third draft of Aykroyd's script. Aykroyd would like to see Ivan Reitman or Harold Ramis direct, wants to introduce a 'new generation' of Ghostbusters, and believes they could be filming the new Ghostbuster movie by winter." Judee Sill's life was brief, but her music lives on and has influenced countless artists. I was turned on to Judee's work after hearing Fleet Foxes Robin Pecknold cover "Crayon Angel" at several Fleet Foxes shows last year. A sampling of artists will be paying tribute to Sill in a new collection titled Crayon Angel: A Tribute to the music of Judee Sill. The album will be released Sept. 22 on American Dust Records. I'm really bummed that Robin's version of Crayon Angel won't be included, but there's plenty of other great artists appearing on the compilation including [...]

Amazon has opened the floodgates on its Kindle publishing. As of this week, emerging blogs (like this one) can publish alongside the corporate big boys. You can check out The Color Awesome for Kindle on Amazon.com here or load it directly from your Kindle with their amazing WhisperNet service. So, if you don't mind reading blogs on a device that makes them appear chunky and ugly, then sign up! If it were up to us, we'd make it available for free, but Amazon sets the price for subscriptions at $1.99/mo. (publishers get 30%) and hopefully [...]

When it comes to all things music, I'm often jealous of my city-dwelling friends. Not this weekend. The Record Man in Redwood City is holding their annual parking lot sale this Saturday and Sunday May 16 and 17. They have over 1,000,000 albums. Have you ever seen a million records in one place? There will be 30-40,000 LP's @ $1.00 each! . Make the effort! Here's the info: Legendary Parking Lot Sale Saturday and Sunday May 16 and 17 You don't want to miss this! [...]
Good things come to those who wait. Case in point: Underworld are playing The Fox Theater in Oakland on August 7th. You can pick up tickets in a presale that goes on until 10am tomorrow. The password is "volpe". No press release, no hype, but it appears from their myspace page that they're doing a short North American Tour before heading back to the other side of the pond to play a half a dozen different European festivals. 8.6 the joint las vegas usa 8.7 fox oakland [...]

Au Revoir Simone 's Still Night, Still Light is set to drop next week. Can't wait? You can stream the whole album right now via their Myspace page . I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but love what I've heard so far. Twinkly, breezy, sweet little pop songs, just perfect for these breezy spring days. Not convinced? Well, starting next Tuesday, you can click over to Amiestreet.com and purchase the album for a whopping $0.00. Yes, free! Like all Amiestreet.com tracks, the price will start at $0.00 and increase up to $7.98 [...]

Regular readers will notice Erik Blood 's name being dropped here and there. Erik is one of the dearest friends I have in my life. The day we met we knew we would get on well. For years, Erik has shared pretty much every demo from his band, The Turn-Ons and his own material. It's always a thrill to be the first person to hear some of his crazy and usually spontaneous pop gems. Erik recently sent me a new song called "Jet Inside You". It's an early demo for a new album - I won't tell you [...]

If you're in Seattle this Thursday, May 14th, you have no excuse for missing this! Dumb Eyes will provide audio and visual goodness. You'll provide the party! 9 P.M. - Close @ The Bus Stop , 1552 Olive Way E.

For years I've been watching Subterranean on MTV2, and before that, the original MTV alternative/indie music video show 120 Minutes . While YouTube has lessened the impact of video shows like Subterranean, I still like to tune in each week to see a handful of interesting indie videos. Much like Sirius XMU's "Download 153 playlist, I don't understand why these playlists aren't archived online, so I've taken it upon myself to do so. This week's Subterranean was hosted by The Silversun Pickups. My favorite video this week was "No One Does it Like [...]

No, I'm not going postal on Bigfoot. I'm shipping my six-year-old off to the grandparents and then I'm flying north to help Phil celebrate his Birthday and then I'm headed to the Gorge to photograph the Sasquatch Festival for three days. I'll be photographing for one of my favorite guys, Ice Cream Man . We're even going to try some new toys for live blogging and photo coverage from the festival. My shooting schedule is quite ambitious, 10 bands Saturday, 14 Sunday and 16 on Monday. I'm most looking forward to The Doves, M83, [...]

Have you ever day-dreamed about what your own version of "a perfect music festival" would be like? My version would be small (like Treasure island ), in a beautiful natural setting (like Rothbury ), with a luxury hotel within walking distance (like Lollapalooza ), musical acts and shows till the wee hours (like Bonnaroo ) great organic food, yoga and massages during the day, and childcare available throughout. Well I'll be damned. Wanderlust has come amazingly close to my "dream festival." Other than the child care, it's all there. A boutique, three-day [...]
It's Mother's Day. What have you done for *your* mom lately? I almost peed my pants when I first saw this on SNL last night. Justin Timberlake is one funny guy. The cameos by Susan Sarandon and Patricia Clarkson are the icing on the cake. Hope you enjoy! Full Lyrics after the jump. Mother Lover Lyrics Andy Samberg: Oh dang.. Justin Timberlake: What is it dawg? [...]
I know my mom needs one of these. How about yours? Another great commercial from SNL.
