Willy Moon x Wu Tang

Willy Moon x Wu Tang Willy Moon has been busy in the studio writing and recording new WORD material and Wu Tang CDs have obviously played a part of the studio atmosphere given this new free download available this week. Wu Tang Clan's 'Ain't Nuthing Ta Fuck Wit' has been introduced into a gritty alternative rock rendition... Check it.

Lovebirds (Reximed)

Lovebirds (Reximed) Nottingham-based Winding Road Records, home to Dutch producer Lovebirds, have commissioned a spate of remixes for what was easily the biggest dance/house track of 2011 and a couple of them are outstanding. Given Winding's particular tastes and large filofax of producing talent, the two featured below are from Swiss Matt Prehn and Brighton man Scott Diaz, are do the huge track a lot of justice. Want You In My Soul (Matt Prehn's Stripped Soul Remix) Want You In My Soul (Scott Diaz Funk Excursion)

Rhye

Rhye New music debuted on The Fader this week from an elusive new act which goes by the name of Rhye. It's absolutely lovely.

Bonobo + DELS

Bonobo + DELS As the official release of the Black Sands Remixed album approaches, we've been treated to the video for Eyes Down featuring the UK lyricist DELS - which was easily on of the most exciting tracks on the LP. DELS' powerful bars on the unexpected pregnancy of what sounds like his sibling changes the outlook of the song completely, but given the opportunity he's chosen to portray an emotional subject and that's massively inspired. www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjMTgQ YZPgI The video is however only short and DELS still features the full length version recorded over [...]

POW! // Martyn

POW! // Martyn Its a slightly offbeat time to pick Martyn as our Producer of the Week. He hasn't got any new releases on the cards. But when perusing through the Brainfeeder artist roster the other day, I was reminded of his 2011 album 'Ghost People'. It's a bold album, and several tracks from it became synonymous with last years sound, particularly this brutally infectious track 'Masks'. The sticcato synth and tech hard bassline build up unbearably; working crowds into a frenetic mob. Martyn - Masks www.youtube.com/watch?v=velQjp qRDwM Martyn's current [...]

BOY // Mahogany Session

BOY // Mahogany Session BOY are our idea of perfect acoustic bliss and we've been in a stand of mellow trance since meeting them earlier in the week. The pair, better known to friends and family as Zalaska and Sonja, are becoming household names in their native Germany and Switzerland since their album 'Mutual Friends' was released domestically last September. Later this month the girls will embark on a mammoth European tour but before that their growing number of UK fans meant a stopover in the country was a must and we met up for a morning of music, Pret [...]

We Should Be Swimming

We Should Be Swimming Zulu Winter have released their new video for the upcoming single 'We Were Swimming' this year. The song's got a great energy to it and the video's not at all bad either. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCVGxH 5fEo0

In The Mix(tape) – Brainfeeder

In The Mix(tape) – Brainfeeder We've made our love of the LA label Brainfeeder's roster pretty evident over the last few months - covering Teebs and Lapalux - and to make a change from all those lovely house mixes we post for you, we're ringing in the changes with a more downbeat experimental promo mix for Teebs' North American tour with Sonnymoon and Time Wharp. This mix features Teeb's amazing cover of The Byrd's 'Pretty Polly', the late Arthur Russell and that unmissable track from Four Tet, Burial and Thom Yorke 'Ego'. Perfect when you need a mellow vibe. Sonnymoon - [...]

Morden Maxwell

Morden Maxwell Bucharest duo Morden Maxwell sent us their new track - they're a pretty unknown pair at the moment but nonetheless this 7 minute house track is an absolute beauty. Aspects of early Nicolas Jaar at points.

Introducing… Mux Mool

Introducing… Mux Mool I stumbled across Mux Mool last year on one of my rambles through Soundcloud. He is one of a raft of awesome experimental electronic artists signed to Matthew Dear's label Ghostly. Based in the USA, Mux Mool's music is hard to define, but if I were to attempt to I'd say his music is synth laden electronica - with a heavy dash of hip hop thrown in. Mux has just released a new LP called 'Planet High School', and its currently streaming via The Fader . Two of the stand out tracks are 'Brothers' and 'Baba' - [...]

Jonquil – It's My Part

Jonquil – It's My Part Bands to emerge from Oxford have become uniquely identifiable since coming together in a creative collective now known as Blessing Force - and through this artistic and musical army comes not just great music, but fantastic videos. Jonquil enlisted the skills of producer/director/editor Franklyn Banks to create a weird and wonderful video to sit alongside their song 'It's My Part' and the result is bang on beautiful. www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIiV6u w2QWo

Lapalux & Py

Lapalux & Py Lapalux is rapidly becoming one of Mahogany's favourite producers, and this week sees the release of his 'When Your Gone' EP. It features 7 big new tracks, including 'Gutter Glitter' which we posted a few weeks ago. However the stand out track for us is this one featuring one of our tips for 2012 - Py. Her vocals are stunning - she has such a lush unique voice - and the glitchy soul of the track is a perfect counterpoint. Check out a sampler of the full EP over on Lapalux's soundcloud . [...]

The Black Keys – Gold On The Ceiling

The Black Keys – Gold On The Ceiling The new Black Keys album has been a joy to the ears as well as the eyes with the first official video going mega-viral and now we've got a more conventional yet great visual aide for Gold on the Ceiling. I'm sure the festival schedule is lining up nicely and with some luck some of our choices will ensure we get to see them on stage! www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yCIDk FI7ew

David's Lyre // Mahogany Session

David's Lyre // Mahogany Session We've become good friends with David's Lyre since he featured on a session in the early stages of our channel and again at the Great Escape festival in Brighton as well as loads of editorial posts on the blog containing his unique blend of modern folky music that we've grown so fond of. His album, Picture of our Youth, is due out at the end of this month and so, on an extremely (!!!) cold day on Hampstead Heath in London, we decided to meet up for a pre-album session... 'This Time' is track 2 on [...]

Maricopa (Exclusive Remix)

Maricopa (Exclusive Remix) Previous Producer of the Week is back into the limelight with a new original track as he prepares to gear up for big things this year. The Belfast-based artist continues to hones his craft of soaring atmospheric instrumental productions and '10012 is another example of his great work. On top of that he's also created a remix exclusively for Mahogany which we're massively chuffed about - it's available to listen and download below!

Brand New Lancelot

Brand New Lancelot Lancelot had a great year in 2011 with some sharp commissioned remixes of the fellow Aussie's New Navy and Penguin Prison and in the past two weeks he's released some brand new sounds. Starting off with his remix of Australian folk artist Matt Corby whose already beautiful vocals (similar to that of Patrick Watson) are accentuated through Lancelot's clever productions. The second comes from his upcoming 'We Can Dance' EP due out on 20th February which is the first highly anticipated original works. Both pieces are really nice, can't wait for the [...]

The Maccabees – Feel To Follow

The Maccabees – Feel To Follow Still haven't gotten round to listen to the new Maccabees LP but I've thoroughly enjoyed what's been released to YouTube thus far, including this new one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HaW5a lLnC0
