Swiss duo Pharao Black Magic and their label Is It Balearic? came to some great conclusions as to who remixed their latest single, 'Amulet'. Out of the four remixes, we've highlighted two London based producers who have done some brilliant work on their edits. Reverso 68 provides the disco whilst Begin takes it down a notch for us. I stumbled across Philco Fiction this weekend and I really enjoyed listening to the singer Turid's sweet soprano voice. Hailing from Oslo, Norway, the group have been touring for several years, but their latest release - the 'Finally EP' - has been creating a stir in the UK in 2012. The trio create strong pop melodies, but this isn't saccharine electro-pop. Turid's songwriting seems to be laced with a deep folk melancholy that underpins all their tracks with a palpable sadness. NY duo The Hundred In The Hands have today released some new music from their upcoming album 'Red Night' and it's good to have them back. THITH were one of the first acts to ever feature on our sessions channel and they were lovely people. It's good to see we weren't the only ones left hungry for more when Kindness unveiled 'Gee Up' via his semi-spoof music video. "The album will have the full length version, they always do" I said with assurance but alas, the 1.40 song remained. Fink's dub project and musical alter-ego Sideshow hasn't stirred much since surfacing with some delectably deep and moody beats back in 2009 but this evening we've been treated to something rather special. Taking on a track from Fink's latest LP, Sideshow has wrapped it up in his instrumentally-inspired dub sounds with and the result is nothing short of stunning. A$AP Rocky - one of our Mahogany tips for 2012 - has just released the lead single 'Goldie' from his up and coming studio album. Produced by Hit Boy, its as explicit lyrically as you'ld expect - but its very catchy. A$AP Rocky has been unescapable lately, not least courting controversy with some bad behaviour at his A$AP show at SXSW. Adrian Dickenson and Gary Pescod or Touchsoul combined their passions for soul, dance and funk back in 2008 and have been putting out some gorgeous edits, originals and mixes ever since. I'm half-way through their new April mix as it's slowly progressing from some deep funk into house and I'm absolutely loving it. I'll never forget how nice of a person Julia Ann Baenziger aka Sea of Bees was when we recently met to shoot a Mahogany Session. This is her latest release '110%', which has another rising star - Bristol based producer Julio Bashmore - on the production.
