In continuation with Phoenix’s effort to bring Parisian Pop back to the top, Air drops their sixth studio album, Love 2, on October 6. Hop on over to their myspace to get a full listen to the whole album before you decide if it’s purchase-worthy. Something interesting to note: it’s the first album produced entirely by the duo themselves. It’s mild and mellow, but kind of boring — certainly better than their previous two albums though. Butttttt, I’m in love with the CD’s first (proper) single. Trop romantique. C’est magnifique, non ? [...]
Classixx - I’ll Get You ft. Jeppe A week late, but whatever. I’ve been busy and depressed over my god damn Golden Bears. The Bang Gang 12 label is doing a promotional deal where they’re releasing one mini-mix each week from their artists in anticipation for the label’s upcoming compilation CD releasing in October . Cassian’s was dropped last week, and boy is it funky. Perhaps the only thing that’s been helping me get over the travesty of Bay Area sports that was this past weekend. Australia [...]
It’s rare to find an electro song that’s both bangin’ AND mesmerizingly beautiful at the same time. Kudos Boys Noize . Boys Noize - Gax.mp3 - Albert
One of my most anticipated films this year, Where The Wild Things Are , spawns some of the happiest music I’ve ever heard. Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs devoted some time to creating an entire soundtrack for the film, under the name of Karen O and the Kids. It sounds very similar to Arcade Fire in regards to the instrumentals. The happiness primarily stems from the undeniably cute voices of the children that sing along, in conjunction with the free-spirited instrumentals. Drops September 29th . Take a sneak peak with these two songs. [...]

A dramatic change has found its way to my life, as I have made the move down to Los Angeles. That’s right, I’ve left the heart of Silicon Valley in Northern California for work in the City of Angels. After months and months of drudgery searching and applying for jobs in the film industry, I’ve landed myself at a fairly major production company. While it’s not paid at the moment, it’s a great start for my career, getting my feet wet in the fast-paced world of movies. Excited, I am. But I definitely feel overwhelmed by the intricacies of the [...]
Steve Aoki’s new banger, featuring Zuper Blahq (Will.i.am’s side project). The song itself is pretty whatever, but at least this video is triptastic. Steve Aoki - I’m in the House feat. Zuper Blahq.mp3 - Albert
Albert : OMG OMG OMG PAVEMENT ARE FINALLY REUNITING! THIS IS THE BEST NE… Kanye : Yo Albert, I’m really happy for you. I’m going to let you finish, but Blink 182 had one of the best reunions of all time! Albert : … Albert : Fuck you. Pavement - Cut Your Hair.mp3 - Albert
Damn you Daft Punk. Now I’m forced to buy yet another useless proprietary rhythm peripheral for my Xbox 360…
KiD CuDi ’s anticipated album officially drops this Wednesday and after a quick preview of his album, I’m excited to pick it up. I’m not quite positive who will win this next-gen rap battle between KiD CuDi and Wale, but KiD CuDi has a strong chance… especially with lively songs such as Enter Galactic. Strong production coupled with some great lyrical talent proves that he is going to be a promising contender for album of the year. Order his album from Amazon soon. As a reminder though, Wale’s album drops November 3rd, so prepare for a proper side-by-side [...]

Art provided by: Crispy-Gypsy Yes, it’s that day. 9/9/09. No, it’s not the release of the Dreamcast 2. Rather, it’s a storm of The Beatles merchandise ready to cause devastation within your bank account. 1. The Beatles Rock Band Premium Edition ($249.99!) Perhaps the most brilliant idea from the guys that brought you Rock Band since… well Rock Band. I was able to nab an early copy of this and have been playing it nonstop since. Harmonix has put in [...]
Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars And….we’re off! It’s kind of hard to believe that I’m in my third year of college already — that there are less than two more years to slack off and live life scheduled around the next alcoholic beverage and problem set. While I can’t wait to see where I’m going to end up next, I sometimes wish that I could find one of those life-remotes like the one in that film Click (that Adam Sandler movie from a few years [...]
Not exactly what I expect from a Mustard Pimp-Hives clash, but it’s still a great MP banger nevertheless. The Hives - Main Offender (Mustard Pimp Remix).mp3 - Albert

With 80% of the newly graduated class being unemployed, it’s hard to slap on a smile thinking everything will be alright. Been looking for awhile, and still nothing promising at the moment. And here I am, staring at my Berkeley diploma, barely shedding any sort of emotion. Apathy, I guess. But at the same time, it’s about staying chill, enjoying life as it is, and not get overly aggravated. And this song from the Bay Area band, Girls, makes me care-free, energetic, and rejuvenated with the lust for life. Their newly released album is inspiring and has kept [...]

Imogen Heap - First Train Home Imogen Heap’s third solo album, Ellipse , dropped earlier this week. A solid effort, but the musical progression you’d normally expect from a third album is severely lacking. The album just doesn’t offer anything innovative enough to merit more than a few listens. In fact, you could tell me that any number of songs are actually from Speak for Yourself and I’d believe you. Maybe that’s the problem with having such a unique sound; it’s hard to delve away [...]

I’m terribly sorry, but I’ve been busy for the greater part of the last week trying to milk what little summer I have left. School starts tomorrow and I can’t really remember a busier summer than the one that just passed. That being said, I can’t say that I’m not stoked for the new year — classes that actually pertain to my major, COLLEGE-freaking-FOOTBALL, fall, etc. Hopefully it’s going to be a good one….Rosebowl? Remixed and played to death is Lily Allen’s album It’s Not Me, It’s You , but Allen attempts to keep it fresh by [...]
mmmair : my-my-my : inflightradio : emilylikespolo : daisychainss : captainoo : Would do real updates, but currently spending some time with the family…and I forgot to bring my external harddrive. Ironically, after I do this post, my ipod touch will go through a drastic reformat and will exchange hands with my brother. (He’s never had an ipod before. I figured a 2nd gen ipod touch is a good place to start) Anyway, here goes nothing: Sharon [...]
mmmair : my-my-my : inflightradio : emilylikespolo : daisychainss : captainoo : This seems kind of fun. So here it goes (keep in mind this is using my very limited 8gig iPhone): 1. The Answering Machine - The Information 2. Mr Oizo - Two Takes It 3. The Beatles - Long, Long, Long 4. Super Mash Bros. - Adler Girl Pt. II (I Can Change!) 5. The Beatles - She’s Leaving Home 6. Empire of the Sun - Without You 7. Felix Da Housecat - Spank U Very Much 8. Vampire Weekend - The Kids Don’t [...]
Calvin Harris creates the world’s FIRST “Humanthesizer.” This is wicked cool. - Albert

Sometimes I look at some of the tracks submitted on Hypemachine, and I wonder how old the people are that are remixing the shit out of songs. A lot of the splice and dice remixes seem pretty amateur, and I can only imagine some 18-year-old kid used Garageband on his newly bought Macbook for college. Does skill and production value come with time? I only question this because Jordan Elliot of The Kids Are Radioactive can put out some pretty hot tracks. Only 18 years of age, Jordan has a really strong grasp on his synths [...]
